She's great and the design holds up as inferior to Thassa but still respectable. I think the major gods are just going to be the best ones but this gives options for more multicolor driven decks and other formats. Ephara will be my EDH commander in a deck that also runs Thassa.
She seems really good in my UWR control deck what with Detention Sphere (4), Heliod (1), Chained to the Rocks (4), Jace (4), Elspeth (2), and her, making it pretty simple to turn her on for an indestructible 6/5 beater that gives you card advantage with things like Assemble the Legion, Heliod, Elspeth, etc.
Will be putting one of her in the MB and one in the SB.
it's a paradox since it encourages overextending in a color combination least likely to play many creatuses.
How so? 2 Detention Sphere's + Jace turn her on. Elspeth gives you card draw with her. Assemble the Legion gives you card draw with her. Heliod, the Sun God gives you card draw with her. Aetherling gives you double card draw with her.
If you go UWR you're almost guaranteed to have her turned on for most of the game. I think people are looking too closely to try and 'maximize' her static ability while forgetting she is an indestructible 6/5, in a color combination that dominates the field allowing you to have clear paths. Supreme Verdict + Her look SAUCY as hell.
Ephara synergies with Pack Rat is also good for Esper control. Ephara gives you a card every upkeep of the following turn you created a rat token which can be used to discard for more Pack Rat activation next turn. You can't do that shenanigans with either Heliod, Erebos, or Thasa.
You do, however, realize that you can just play her the other way around, aka in a White Weenie deck that a) exists (and puts up quite decent results), b) has a lot of decent creatures and c) could really use effectively drawing 2 cards each turn ?
My post was in response to discussion of splashing her and sphere in mono-U, but much of what I said holds true for white. Mono W aggro is currently a teir 2 deck.
The mostly white Orzhov Humans deck has put up some numbers, but Xathrid Necromancer is critical there (Ephara could possibly fill that space, but wouldn't be a significant improvement, still higher cmc drop that protects against overextending)
The Wr decks are both mostly white aggro, splashing for Boros charm and some sideboard options, such as electrickery to kill RG mana dorks, mizzium mortars as removal, and Burning Earth. While these lists could easily adapt to UW, Boros Charm is fairly important as a counter to Verdict (black is supposedly getting a sweeper too, making it even more critical), and Burning Earth is good for Esper or other random greedy manabases (which will likely become more common after BNG rewards multicolor devotion and adds lands). This deck could use Ephara, but is far from the "(and puts up quite decent results)" that you claim.
-No top 8s at GP Shizouka, only one in the top 16
-No top 16s at GP Dallas Fort Worth
-GP Vienna there was one Wr aggro in top 8, nothing else in top 16
-GP Albuquerque one Wr aggro in top 16, none in top 8
A total of three decks in the top 16s of the past 4 standard GPs is not good results, it is a teir 2 deck (and due to low cost is actually played by a decent number of players).
There was also a Mono-U deck in the top 16 of GP DFW that splashed white (Ephara could fit), but it was much less aggressive, splashing for Sphere and Revelations and only running 21 creatures (other mono-U stayed between 26 and 29, usually running 28).
I'm not arguing that Ephara can't be played, just that she doesn't fit into a teir one deck and would be excellent in other colors or in last year's standard, where her deck was teir 1.
Thassa gives you a scry all of your turn. Ephara gives you a potential draw every turn. That seems like a big difference to me.
As others have mentioned D-sphere and Aetherling will add significant value to Ephara decks. Blue white has had some extremely good spells for a while, and adding another damage source and card advantage outlet will help.
Detain is a decent mechanic but ends up lackluster when you run out of juice. This could be the card that enables Detain tempo to have a shot at standard. Only trick will be percentages of land/creature/spells.
I don't see it, honestly. She's in colors that aren't known to drop tons of creatures, and her devotion 7 screams 'Why haven't you won already!!!!' by the time she's a creature. Truthfully, she's terrible in EDH and Standard, and no application elsewhere, so I don't see the point. Honestly, unless the enchantment effect is bomby, I don't think any of these gods will be relevant.

White doesn't drop a ton of creatures?
Never heard of white weenie?
Mono blue right now is pretty much an aggro deck it's so creature heavy with 1-2 drops.
Drawing cards wins games. Why do you think Sphinx's Revelation is the most expensive card in RTR? It's not because it's a Stream of Life

She is quite good in EDH, especially if you have flash creatures(or Teferi, Leyline of Anticipation...) drawing cards on opponent's turn is good. Indestructible let's her block even massive EDH creatures and attack fearlessly into them.
In standard she could find a deck, but unfortunately mono-U aggro doesn't play well with a splash and mono-W aggro(though an ever-present archetype, isn't very good right now). Certainly has potential. 7 devotion (two of which she gives herself) is far from "Win more", a Detention sphere and any two creatures should do it
This is really an UW(possible splash) tempo card.
Seriously, this turns every creature you play into a silvergill adept, replacing itself. That is INSANE. If there's some more blue/white creatures with ETB effects we could have deputy of acquittals see play as a very sweet draw engine. This is thusfar also the only minor god that helps its own devotion. Drawing more cards means more devotion!
I really just want one to test in my enchantment control. While creatures with flash are nice, especially deputy, i dont see them being good enough. However, I do like attacking with a 6/5 on turn 13.
Sidenote, yes my uw enchantment deck always hits turn 13
Creatures get flash, plus you get to double up your mana for maximum effect. Play creatures on opponents turn and your turn, draw three cards to the opponents one. I'm thinking Sylvan Caryatid, Kiora's Follower, Detention Sphere, Ephara, & Prophet of Kruphix as a shell filling the rest up with creatures of any Bant colors.
T1 Scry Land
T2 Kiora's Follower
T3 Ephara
T4 Prophet of Kruphix
T4.5, Untap, draw and play a creature on opponents turn
T5 Continue drawing and playing creatures for the rest of the game.
Think of it this way, with Ephara and Prophet on the battlefield, you basically get a whole TURN on the opponents turn (minus being able to play sorceries and getting a combat phase). That's card draw, untapping, and playing creatures.

Ephara is just a win more ::
Oh i play aetherling now i draw a extra card/turn but you know you can't kill aetherling so you re already on a clock
Oh i play a soldier swarm card , oh i draw a extra card/turn , oh you are on a clock with my other card;
Oh i play Ephara and i have a detention sphere in play , oh i play another detention sphere and a jace oh oh i have a indestructible 6/5 in play, you play devour flash >:( (yeah this is a die to removal argument but if you play against mono b you just give useless cards in his hand more play)
UW control and esper control are decks that don't play more than 3 creatures, ephara will not fit nicely in those decks:cool2::nod:
I've added Akroan Horse to my Esper control in anticipation of Ephara. So far it works out ok in casual match-ups. Getting extra card draw with it should be good.

Well I don't know if it's been said yet, but brimaz that got spoiled seems to fit the bill a little better than the horse. It add to your devotion, is actually on curve, and will probably draw you at least a card on your opponents turn. If you basically splash blue into WW for this god, it sort of like how domri rade gets played in GR, except now it's a draw reguardless of wether top card is a creature or not, bident of thassa possibly for both of its abilities( make your opp attack into your brimaz, draw a card, untap, attack, draw lots of cards?). What do you all think?
Completely agree about Brimaz. Him with Heliod's spear and Ephara are going to be ridiculous. Your turn attack for 6, draw a card on opponent's upkeep. His turn, block for 6, draw an extra card your turn.

7 total.
7 devotion total.
So imagine this board state:
Soldier of the Pantheon (W) = 1 devotion
Deputy of Aquittals (WU) = 2 devotion
Daxos of Meletis (WU1) = 2 Devotion
Ephara (2WU) = 2 devotion
Ephara would then be a creature
|| UW Jace, Vyn's Prodigy UW || UG Kenessos, Priest of Thassa (feat. Arixmethes) UG ||
Cards I still want to see created:
|| Olantin, Lost City || Pavios and Thanasis || Choryu ||
Will be putting one of her in the MB and one in the SB.
Standard
W.I.P.
EDH
WNorn Tokens
Pretty narrow overall though.
