went black, ended up 3-2 with a BRw deck featuring all the minotaur lords and whip of erebos to bring them back to smash face again. got a thoughtseize so my event paid for itself
3-1 with 5 color garbage.
Format's a bit strange. Bestow is interesting enough.
I wish they had made Bestow abilities that interacted with your opponents creatures.
- Can't block, attacks each turn if able, etc would all be pretty decent uses of the mechanic.
Also wish they had made Heroic affected by your opponents spells. Either in that you get the effect, or that the controller of the spell got a benefit.
- Heroic: lose 2 life. Heroic: token.
I dunno, the abilities seem really flat to me as they are. Fine for limited, but flat.
Second prerelease, I opened green for no good green cards, rares that are junk in limited (but with good value) and no bombs at all. I made a joke about using the Rageblood Shaman and build a tribal Minotaur deck.
4 Minotaur Skullcleaver later I won the prerelease with a tricolor WRB aggro deck fueled with 2 Read the bones.
Also topdecked my Blood-Toll Harpy two times right when I was missing that last point of damage to win.
Good times.
First prerelease didn't go as well because I didn't go minotaur and chose blue/black instead.
Opened Ashiok the planeswalker both times too.
I got Chained to the Rocks in my seeded pack. My other rares were Fabled Hero, Bident of Thassa, Boon Satyr, Triad of Fates, and Temple of Abandon. Ended up playing Azorius Heroic since i opened 10+ Heroic creatures. Went 2-2 for 2 packs. Would've got 3-1, but I ended up punting round 1 by overextending.
My red cards were kinda poopy, so I went blue/black flyers. Won my first two rounds. I lost the third round to a nut draw first game (Leafcrown Dryad into double Ordeal of Nylea into Whip of Erebos into Bow of Nylea into Prowler's Helm. I lost the second game to Mull to 5 and not being able to draw any answers for turn 1 Tormented Hero into turn 2 Ordeal of Nylea. I split my fourth round, but played it out for fun, and ended up winning. Ultimately, I wish I hadn't split though, since I found out (later) that 3-1 got six packs, and 2-1-1 only got two packs (ugh).

Focused on limited for now. Occasionally play some standard/modern as well.
played on 5 pods. in one of them, i played against a guy with Fleecemane Lion which became montrous turn 4 thanks to acceleration and was then slapped with multiple auras which gave it lifelink, reach and vigilance. dang! unfortunately it happened in game 2 as well. i was able to kill one thanks to the new Murder and then a 2nd one came down.
my other removal was a 6cc one so im not able to kill it before it becomes monstrous.
This is frankly just being ignorant. People dont complain that expensive things exist, they get annoyed when there are no alternatives to the expensive versions of cards.
Its a card game. People want to play the card game. They arent mad that certain pieces of cardboard are rare and collectable. They get upset when there arent alternative printings that allow them to play the game.
Ran a R/ deck that got me 2-2-1. In retrospect I should've just ignored the Auguries (which only ever got me a single useful card the at best 50% of the time it got me anything useful at all) and ran a G//x with fatties, fliers, and better removal than burn. Was still fun playing U enchantments and combat tricks, though. Won one pack - Triad of Fates.
Game of the weekend: My second match of the first night went to the final five turns of the third game. My opponent had 18 health and I had 2 when the first of the final five turns began. I top-decked a land, giving me exactly enough mana to turn my Shipbreaker Kraken monstrous, tapping all four of her creatures that would otherwise have swung and killed me the next turn, allowing me to swing for 10 and leave blockers open. She played a chump blocker the next turn, but I top-decked an Aqueous Form and won the game.
Saturday I went 4-1-0 for second place of about thirty people. I picked blue and ran a blue/green beats. MVPs were Arbor Colossus, Vaporkin and Curse of the Swine. Curse especially did great as it pretty much negated bombs and anything big that they had.
Sunday, I went 4-0-1 for first place in about thirty people. Picked red, got zero burn but tons of random red critters, the red god, his hammer and some good blue beats including Vaporkin and Master of Waves. I also got another Curse of the Swine, which saved me plenty of times as well as made Crusader tokens bigger. Neat interactions were Akroan Crusader and Wavecrash Triton with cards like Triton Tactics . I actually got to the point where I could have won via Curse of the Swine, Purphoros, God of the Forge and Akroan Crusader but ended up winning by attacking in first.
I had zero burn in my red pulls, but I found it useful to play games by holding a land or two in hand when I had enough to function out. I topped off at five so it wasn't really an issue. The illusion of possible burn kept people playing pretty conservatively when attacking or blocking. Likewise, I had no counters or bounce except for Annul but frequently kept open mana as if I had either. I'm pretty sure that's what won me games.
The red minotaurs, including the one that attacks each turn, are fantastic. Even the vanilla one performed admirably well.
Got tons of good cards from the prize packs, like Ashiok and foil Thoughtseize, but no Nylea :(.
I ended up going 4 color which if you click the link in my signature you can see the deck I built, it was nasty to say the least. Went 4-0 only losing 1 match the whole time playing which was due to him having all 1-2 drops and putting like them all down before I could stabilize which I needed one mana to do at given time. First time I won a pre release and I got awesome pulls and 23 packs in prize support. 40 players total. Click the link for more info.
I did just fine, went 2-2 with RB aggro. I got some very good common and uncommon creatures but unfortunately didn't pull a single burn spell, and it was my lack of removal that ultimately left me defeated.
On the plus side, though, I thought the Ordeal cards were absolutely awesome, especially combined with Akroan Crusader. The "free" spells-- like Dragon Mantle and Scourgemark, were also completely nuts.
I went black, and my rares were Agent of the Fates in the seeded pack (solid!), Hythonia the Cruel (AWESOME!), Firedrinker Satyr (not that great in limited but hopefully better in constructed), the UB scry land (I ran it even though I didn't use the blue part and I didn't regret it; scry 1 is solid in the format), the sole "money card," a foil Hammer of Purphoros (SO GOOD!) and some cards I ended up not running: Gift of Immortality and Curse of the Swine.
So although I didn't open that much in terms of raw value, I got a lot of playable cards and very little jank, and I ended up having a lot of fun. I'm not sure about whether aggro is even viable, however, in a set where a fourth-turn Polukranos, World Eater can just completely stall the deck out, then wipe the field on turn 5. I think aggro needs to have at least 4-5 removal/burn spells to be viable, and I just didn't have that many.

I mainly play Standard and Modern.
MTGO Nick: neonordnance
LGS: Dream Wizards in Rockville, MD
He went WU control (he had my Menomai and my Thassa, three divine verdicts, two griptides, two sea god's revenge, two last breaths)and while I went GR aggro (not too happy about the pool but one player control and the other aggro is our go-to tactics for TH-G)
Tied the first match: our opponents top decked Act of Treason (or whatnot it is Theros) and got our Menomai; they didn't get through but the judge ruled that we were not allowed to take our extra turn (due to time having being called already) once we got him back and got through with him.
Won our second match: our opponents both mulliganed and we rolled over them
Lost our third match: my buddy was starting to get tired (the event was supposed to go from 6 to 10 but instead went from 9 to 2) and make some misplays by playing spells without having the right amount of mana and gave away our advantage at a critical juncture and we lost
Lost our fourth match: this time I screwed up by not having mana'd my deck properly after the prior match so I had to mulligan down to five. It was an epic match but we got Fog'd TWICE and our opponents had all the answers; my buddy again played a spell without having enough mana and gave away our Divine Verdict (grrrr)
Won our final match: played against younger players, we just obliterated them since we were able to get Menomai out early and get two extra turns out of him
We didn't get any packs (2-2-1 record) but we conceded the final match in the paperwork to allow the younger guys to get some packs if they gave us one pack, we got Erebos and I let my buddy have it cause I got three mythics in my sealed pool and he got next to nothing.
Theros limited was really, really fun though. I'm easy to please but still, I have to say I enjoyed it more than anything we had in RtR (Gatecrash was wicked but had it's issues)
Went blue love the promo but went 1-4. Guess I tried to force u/r too hard but pulling two flamespeaker shamans was so tempting.
Other rares were jank. Until the ~pity~ pack, temple of mystery. Awesome! Wait, no, it was the foil elspeth in it that made me damn near leap thru the roof.
26th/29 totally worth it.

Saturday my pulls were pretty weak (at least compared to the guy who pulled two gods, a foil Elspeth, and another mythic), getting two pairs of rares:
2x Steam Augury
2x Labyrinth Champion
1x Soldier of the Pantheon
1x Sylvan Caryatid
Ran a R/ deck that got me 2-2-1. In retrospect I should've just ignored the Auguries (which only ever got me a single useful card the at best 50% of the time it got me anything useful at all) and ran a G//x with fatties, fliers, and better removal than burn. Winner went R/.
Tonight I pulled:
1x Prognostic Sphinx
1x Abhorrent Overlord
1x Boon Satyr
1x Temple of Abandon
1x Meletis Charlatan
1x Ember Swallower
Much better. Ran U/ (was tempted by U/) and went 3-1. Won 3 packs - Soldier of the Pantheon, Agent of the Fates, and Akroan Horse. Not a single mythic (*sigh*). Traded the Agent for a second Prognostic Sphinx.
Winner went G/.
