Why would a legendary, gold 4 mana creature be 'busted' if you didn't have to tap to put on a fate counter? Gold and legendary are both drawbacks, 4 mana is not cheap, 3/3 is mediocre stats, so why can't I at least get something unique and powerful for my 4 mana?
I would just change the first line of text to be 'creatures enter the battlefield with a fate counter on them'. Clean, simple and flavourful since all creatures have a 'fate' associated with them that can be cut off at any time.
If all creatures entered the battlefield with a fate counter on it then this card, which is clearly geared towards (but not only) EDH, would be absolutely terrible alongside Oblivion Stone which is a very popular card in the format; that would be an epic fail.
As it is now it's a clunky but flavourful card that could be pretty powerful in a casual setting in a dedicated deck
Nothing wrong with that; narrow cards can still be fun
The effects are strong, but I just can't see a competitive deck building around a 4 drop that needs at least two turns (and mana up) to do anything, unless that 'anything' is semi-broken, which neither of these effects are. If it was a turn faster, or if the black ability didn't have a drawback when used as removal, maybe.
Sadly an awful card. Takes 3 turns and has to tap to do anything. Has mediocre stats.
Agreed that the speed could have been increased. Giving it a 1WB: Untap ~ would've fixed loads for it's playability.
I can imagine that casuals will try to use this with the new Archon. Sadly only will gain 1 trigger on ETB every second turn. Yea, the speed kinda kills it again.
With a well made Orzhov control this card would flourish. I think that everyone is missing the plain(no pun intended)-as-day fact that comboing Triad of Fates with Ashen Rider causes you to have the ability to blink Ashen Rider every other turn and exile a permanent your opponent controls.

Triad costs 4 to summon while Ashen Rider is something like 8 or 9
Once Ashen Rider is summoned it takes two turns until you can use the white fate ability
The only format where this is *maybe* viable is EDH
Triad has some serious potential in a UBW control deck. Hidden Strings ring a bell to anyone? Add a token and EXILE the target each turn. Who cares if they gain some life, you are able to exile a ton of annoying creatures, including activated Gods! A definite limited bomb.
On to the flavor argument:
In ancient Greek myth the fates were not all old ladies. They were maiden, matron, and crone; young, middle age, old respectively. The Norns from Norse myth were maidens even. It is modern misconception that fate goddess are always old.

You give the controller two extra cards when you permanently exile a creature with a counter on it
Yea like honestly you guys are still arguing about it as though there is any other answer than its bad. This comboing with Ashen Rider is twice as bad asVenser, the Sojourner and Spine of Ish Sah, And that never saw play either. Bad card is bad. It's inefficient and it's abilities lend to it sitting there doing a bunch of nothing.
i just want to remind everyone that this is one of the worst cards ever made and looking at it makes me upset
if a WotC person is reading this thread please fix this when the game inevitably returns to Theros
there is no excuse for this card ever seeing print
who the hell looked at this and said "yeah, seems legit"
Takes 3 turns to and 6 mana to say "your opponent draws two cards" while also wasting the appearance of one of the most iconic pieces of Greek mythology
Was there really a reason to make a post in a three year old thread for that, though?

That's a SIGNIFICANT draw back
