2 tap: copy target triggered ability you control. you may choose new targets for the copy.
this is the kind of card that i get my jollies from playing. so strange, so cool looking, begging for a deck because it craves the abuse. im calling on the johnnies of the world to discuss this card. not worth mentioning in standard i think but casually this could be really sweet.
its got that cloudstone curio vibe going on, i knew that card would do something cool with the right combinations but i couldn't figure out what that was for a long time.
Maybe decks with Thragtusk can use it at 7 manas gain a 5/3 and 10 life or when tusk dies get 2 3/3 tokens for 2.
there is a huge pool to abuse this card but i don't know if it will worth Acidic Slime in two lands for 7 Angel of Serenity six targets
8 manas for 3 5/5 trample worms ,Armada Wurm
Draw two instants and/or spell and drop a 1/3 for 4, Augur of Bolas
deal 9 damage /turn at last, Aurelia, the Warleader
turbo fog with Azor's Elocutors Huntmaster of the Fells will be insane ( put a 2/2 wolf token into play gain 2 life deal 2 damage to target creature and target player for 2? yes please)
GosT will be a 2 turns clock ggon turn 5
This is nuts. Pay 2 mana and copy any ETB effect. Here are the ways I have thought to break this card:
1.How about using this on Tendrils of Agony to copy the storm ability? That seems kind of broken doesn't it? In fact I'm going to go ahead and call that this starts seeing play in the sideboard of storm decks in order to fight Stifle and Flusterstorm. You can even play it before the combo turn.
2. Put it in a deck with SFM and some swords so that I can tutor for two equipments when SFM hits the battlefield and then gets two triggers whenever Sword of X and Y connects. And then use it with Snapcaster in order to flashback two spells.
Awesome card, definitely one of my favorites spoiled so far.
I think the fact that it has an activation cost, plus taps for its effect, will keep it out of competitive play. But in more casual games it has a ton of applications.
can anyone explain how it works? Do you trigger before or after the triggered ability takes effect? Do you cast O-ring, then pay the mana and get 2 effects, or do you pay after it resolves?

It's when the ability is on the stack, so after it triggers, but before it resolves.
You play your Oblivion Ring, it comes into play, it's ability goes on the stack, you activate the Strionic Resonator, you exile a creature thanks to the resonator, then exile one with the original Oblivion Ring activation.
I went through the RTR to M14 cards, seeing what works well with the resonator, and here's what I came up with.
White:
Angelic Accord
Archangel of Thune
Banisher Priest
Bant colours have a strong offering of triggered effects. Though a Junk Dreadbridge Chant deck running the resonator seems very sweet. And there's also a cute GW lifegain/Archangel of Thune/Angelic Accord deck to make out there.
All of the rules allow for your general to be moved to the command zone when he gets put into a place that would be tough to get him back from, GY, Exile, etc. I am sure one day the rules will change and include tuck effects.
good with rebound, good with suspend, i love this card! there are so many things it can be used with its overwhelming. its going to take me awhile to decide what the best cards to use with it are.
agreed about detain, i think thats the best use for standard, other than some of the sillier ETB creatures like swagtusk. so when you use the resonator with o ring or d sphere you get to choose two targets that both come back when your enchantment leaves play right?
EDIT: seems really good with pyromancer ascension and it copies storm? i will begin brewing
This card will see some use---the cost is low enough, and there's a lot of triggered abilities out there! Especially with the importance of CITP these days.

that's not what happened at all. kamahl stabbed phage, akroma, and some old lady and they became korona. then korona got stabbed by her "prophets" and kamahl got drunk with a mutant centaur
This will see play if Theros has the tools to make it work. Right now it looks best in WUR. Can copy Resto, Snappy, Reckoner(you think attacking into him now is bad).
Pretty much every highly played creature right now has a good triggered ability that this can work with, and it only costs 2 colorless to get out. Once it is out, it's very rare that you won't have a solid use for it almost every turn.

with standstill for example. 6 cards... whatttt
It's exactly what I've been hoping to see printed for at least a year.

Oblivion Ring i think will need a update

3. In Standard use it to copy Ruric Thar, the Unbowed's triggered ability.
What would happen if this targeted Oblivion Ring or Detention Sphere?
I'll probably buy a couple to put into my Venser deck. I'll use it to copy Stonehorn Dignitary's ability when it comes into play.
Not sure how? Prime Time Ramp? Valakut/Scapeshift abuse?
My Modern decks:
B/R/G Living End G/R/B
G/R Tron R/G
U/W/G/R Gargageddon R/G/W/U

Well this is a better ramp method than Goblin Electromancer. It makes Storm work again
