I can see it easily pairing with the Archangel to be useful.
He may not fit into any decks right now, but that doesn't mean he won't. He has the potential to be quite good. Lifelink is too easily overlooked right now... and it looks like we're going to see several "gaining life matters" cards with m14.
I believe that this might be what wizards is going to do instead of hexproof. They seem to want to make creatures that coordinate with auras, but since everyone cries about hexproof...
I will only say that it's not an entirely terrible card. If it were available to me in the current standard I would probably use it in my sideboard. First strike and lifelink are great abilities to use in Bant Auras and these would go a long way toward solving some of our tough matchups against aggro.
On the other hand if this is the best target for auras after Stalker and GoST rotate then the aura deck is dead.

Thats what I was thinking too. They could have creatures have this "Enemy Colors Protection/Hexproof" blend as the new hexproof. It would make people complain a little less hopefully.

1-Trying to Simic Charm Daes Geist of Saint Traft...while playing Bant Hexproof [6/13/13]
It could be decent in Bant Auras, actually. Most instant speed removal is Black or Red (I'm looking at you, Azorios Charm), so it dodges a fair amount of immediate hate. The inbuilt Lifelink makes a Spectral Flight into a usually superior Unflinching Courage, and like almost every other creature ever printed, it is awesome wearing a Rancor.
I'd daresay that's probably the best deck for it that currently sees play in Standard. If your meta is aggro oriented, I could see this making the main 60, with perhaps more copies in the sideboard.
It's definitely borderline playable in auras but the double white is a little bit off-putting and it's another 3 cmc creature so it's kind of hard to justify when what we usually want is a turn 2 play.
For those times when we don't have the nuts draw I mean.
Of course we don't know what else is happening. It seems likely that Rancor will rotate and we know that Avacyn's Pilgrim is going away too. If Spectral Flight rotates along with the hexproof twins then it might be difficult to justify a Bant aura deck. The next aura deck could conceivably be in Dega colors. There are some very tempting cards in red and if you run black then it makes Gift of Orzhova a very easy card to cast. Plus Dutiful Thrull could add an interesting dimension.
It's too early to say.
If your opponent wants to waste a killspell on a 2/2 non-threat, you should probably let them...
True
for modern, EDH , etc.. this will not play
for modern there can be room for it in knights.dec in EDH whitewinie
This guy will see more play in Standard. just it.
Maybe Bant Hexproof can use it in side on maindeck for the lifelink without losing tempo for Gift of Orzhova
there can be also a WDWs in this meta. i don't know.
Pretty sweet card. Lifelink right now is a very powerful ability. This thing will hose aggro decks about as much as boros reckoner (although not quite, but still strong regardless). Have a feeling aristocrats may like it more.
Hard to say, Paladin en-Vec doesn't see any play (that I'm aware of) to begin with so... Do we have a reason to think this will see play?
It did in standard.
I don't see this guy as a white weenie. I see him as a defensive creature. In G/W, you can get him out on turn 2 right now. It works great with the new mythic angel from the set. In that thread, I said we needed more life-linking dudes to activate her, and he qualifies.
Originally I thought they didn't outright give it protection because dual protections are too strong coming off a multicolor block, but then I remembered baron of vizkopa.. I guess they didn't want to completely obsolete paladin en vec?
It's comparable to nighthawk I guess. Playable, although there are a lot of edict effects.
If this card was ridiculously broken people would complain, as they are because it's NOT ridiculously broken. :T I think it's awesome, and being a bad player, I would totally just play it for the artwork. I feel like it super-duper boosts a white-weenie strategy as well, playing well with Sublime Archangel pre-rotation and in a Boros deck, this Jedi can have a red lightsaber in the form of a Madcap Skills and it'd be fun to play.
Also Doom Blade is coming back in standard, and this guy dodges it.
Solid card, definitely not overcosted or too weak by any means. He has built in first strike and lifelink and protection from two of the three big removal colors. Just give him an aura or equipment and he's a big threat
The knight of medowgrain comment is well said. I am never a naysayer usually, and i think this guy is great- fav art! But without actual "protection", it isnt quite there-can still be blocked, etc. i like it thought, lifelink/first strike is a good combo, and dodging r/b hate is good too. Good flavor, this guy spends all his time fighting fiends. He has a knack of avoiding them a lil
And it (Paladin en-Vec) was arguably a stronger card, plus creature have gotten better since then. Paladin en-Vec wasn't fighting for a spot vs Reckoner or Smiter, Fiendslayer is.

Sure but for the same cost you could be running Smiter for example. Why play this instead? This is good vs Red/Black but so is smiter plus smiter is good vs other decks too...

You play it because it's human and has life-link, which are both relevant over smiter or reckoner in the right deck.
The protection ability is very weak compared to the traditional "protection from [color]". The old knights were typically played as silver bullets that could not be killed or blocked. Even with lifelink this seems much worse, imo.
I'm generally playing Basilisk Collar and/or Umezawa's Jitte in my Knight decks to take advantage of all the First and Double Strikers, so I would take Paladin en-Vec over a little Lifelink anytime -- though, Paladin en-Vec is already barely playable in the deck as it is. The deck really needs a solid 1- or 2-drop Knight, not another 3-drop. I'm not on the up-and-up with Standard, but with all the multicolored removal flying around, I suppose it may find a home once [INN] rotates along with all the popular creatures that currently take care of it (Huntmaster of the Fells, Olivia Voldaren, etc).

This guy doesn't play well in combat without an aura. That is not where I want my 3 drops that are WW.
