One point that a lot of MTGS users seem to be forgetting is that RoN actually won our own poll as well. The final tally was absurdly close, with 544 for BitWC and 565 for RoN, but the card still won even here. Now, we could make some silly allegations about spamming and poll-rigging, whether on this site or Daily MTG, but if we don't want to don our tinfoil hats, we need to acknowledge that the card won even on our apparently spike-filled forum.
I voted for Watering Can, but was hesitant to do even that. Wizards seems to hate graveyard based mechanics, and loves to make them unplayably overcosted. Let's just look at some recent examples in the graveyard department to see what BitWC was getting into. Deathbridge Chant just got printed with a laughable mana cost and is totally worthless in constructed. Rot Farm Skeleton has the worst excuse for a Dredge mechanic that we could have hoped against. We have the god awful Grave Exchange, the equally terrible Haunted Fengraf, and poor Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord who can't even return directly to play.
Wizards does not like graveyard based cards. BitWC had a much higher chance of being overcosted than did RoN, simply because of Wizards fear of graveyard based mechanics. RoN might still become under/overcosted junk, but at least the chance that it will be aggressively costed is much higher.
If its what the casual fanbase wants, then its what they shall recieve. Its not a bad thing to get this as the only one that I can recall from memory that would have been much more strong at 2G was Forgotten Ancient, but that mana cost got changed at the last minute.
I would however wish they would this whole YMTC thing more than once every few years. I mean just look at the cards for the big contest here on MTGS, lots of interesting ones, some balanced and others a little too strong.

Actually, Deadbridge Chanthas seen a bit of play in block and standard. Turns out Phyrexian Arena with no life loss that randomly casts some cards for free is pretty good even with a steep mana cost. BitWC could have seen play even if it was a bit overcosted. RoN will probably not see play even if aggressively costed. And note that by aggressively costed I mean one or less mana, even two mana assures this will not see any competitive play.
Neither of the final cards were that good from a spike perspective. I'd rather see something casual players like than something that no one likes. Wizards will print constructed level cards, don't worry. In the meantime, here's hoping they print an Eldritch Rites variant or at least power up black.
If it's truly competitively costed (B or BB at the most), then it'll be so absurdly overpowered in any casual deck designed with discard in mind that no one will want to play against it and will rail against you for playing it.
If it's anywhere between 3-4 mana, then comboing it with cards that repeatedly force discard will make it quite powerful, and casual people will not like playing against it.
If it's anywhere from 5-6+ mana, then it's just pointless.
So, the card will either be absurdly overpowered if competitively costed, or pointless because 5-6+ mana cards are not great, simply because people probably have played most of their hands by then and so discard is irrelevant.
Open your eyes folks. This card is bad even in casual. Either people will hate your guts for playing it, or you won't find a reason to play it.
Eh, this is the same delicious tears that pour every major political decision. Also this is why I don't hang out with competitive magic players. They're the kind of classist jerks who'd literally dump on a guy because he works at walmart, just because they can afford to put together $700+ decks to lose with at tourneys.
**** card won whilst the best of the bunch was disqualified due to Wizard's own incompetence, and the only other deserving or interesting card lost out in the end. People have a right to be upset.
Revenge of Necromancy, my God that name is freaking awful and the flavor makes no sense with the mechanics of the card, is just plain freaking bad. Even as a 1-drop it is unplayable garbage. EDH doesn't want it, standard won't want it, power formats like vintage and legacy sure as **** don't want it. This is a bad card made by a bad player, who I am sure is feeling all kinds of giddy right now..., for bad players.
Thread title summons it all up. The comments in the RoN thread are disgusting! Accept the decision that was made; it's not like this is a Florida poll mishap.
At first I thought the rambling rants from others was entertaining, but page after page of elitist vomit just gave the community a clean look at the true nature and color of some of its members. So your submission was snubbed or your vote wasn't a winning vote. Why behave so self-absorbed?
And to answer your responses ahead of time, I'm not on a high horse; no relation to the creator of RoN; and "yes" I did vote for RoN. I have my own reasons to like it & my reason(s)/opinion makes no difference.
Keep playing the game you love, making fond memories, and most of all, keep your chin up. Complaining isn't going to change anything.
This is exactly the kind of response that is just as irrational and self-absorbed as what you are complaining about.
From this post, it looks like your problem is not that most players are being elitist/irrational/disrespectful/idiots when complaining abour RoN. The point you are getting across is "grow up, you lost, complaining makes no difference, this is not a big deal". For the upteenth time, changing the world is not the only, or even one of the, reasons people voice their opinion and complain. Most of Magic's rule changes/decisions/new things etc are not going to be changed because we disagree, but the whole point of a forum is so that we can discuss what's going on and voice our opinions.
TL; DR: RoN won, but we can still say that we are not happy about the result and try to show other players why it was one of the worst submissions in this YMTC flop. We just have to be rational, respectful, and present decent arguments. Just like your side of the discussion.
I think some people don't understand the concept of a playtest name...
Pretty sure these were the names given to the cards by their creators when submitted, and while not necessarily the name the card will end up with when printed it is still really bad and does not fit the card at all. And considering that the person that named it is the one that came up with the idea behind it...it's pretty stupid.
I'd love to start taking wagers on this.
Myself, the cheapest I can see it costing is BBB or 2BB. 4B is more likely when you look at Primeval Bounty from M14.
I'm betting it sees play in discard-centric EDH,
and pretty much nothing else.
And OP, don't expect everyone to love this card.
Anyone with memory of similar cards knows it will priced out of competitive play,
and it's boring as hell compared to several of the other designs.

Crucible isn't broken it's just an actually unique and powerful card.

Honestly? Magic discussions on /tg/ tend to be more civilized than the ones on this board.
This thread is bad.
and you should feel bad.
Big thanks to Rivenor for the sig!!

Having an opinion is one thing; voicing it with an narrow, elitist tone is another.

"At the beginning of your upkeep, each opponent discards a card"
That part alone would make it strong and all of the additional effects would make it very powerful overall.
Card is fine, community is jealous.

It's too bad it makes zombies
Zombies are so, so lame
The other options, aside from zombies (tribal wise) is slim to match the flavor. There could've been vampires, skeletons, spirits, or horrors.
Zombie's are the flagship creature type for black.
Cuz it hasn't been decided yet.
