I don't know about you guys, but this champion looks lovely for me.
If I am reading it right, anything that you cast from your library will be copied. With only Standard in mind, this means all spells from your Epic Experiment will be doubled. And more, if you cast the Epic right off the library, you get another one to go off! There's also cascade and stuff to go around with.
All and all, this reminds me of Undead Alchemist, which can be fun to work with in the right deck. While the 2/4 body, it's all good for me that it can survive a spear unlike Mercurial Chemister. I will surely include it in that Izzet in Flames to go off in a huge bang.
Understandably expensive but likely too expensive to be playable too.
Kind of too build-around-me (not that deck with instants and sorceries or decks with library manipulation are that build-around me) for me. Seeing as it'd be unreasonable to chuck a few more abilities, hopefully combat-related ones, on it, I wish it were a little bigger.
Melek should prove to be a pretty fun card for non-constructed play. Would be wonderful with something like Sensei's Divining Top but that's simply because the Top is powerful like no other.
Decent. Would play in just about any EDH deck that has R/U. Too OP as a commander though. Would attract too much hate. Would not play in standard. 2/4s for 6 who's main job is to create card advantage are too expensive.

that under the gatherer rulings for Melek, Izzet Paragon there is one ruling from 4/15 that states that Melek also plays lands from the top of your library?
4/15/2013 If the top card of your library is a land, you can play it if you could play a land.
Any idea why they would quasi-errata the card this way?

Well the card reads "you may cast..." so I guess it's about the opposition between "play" and "cast".
It sort of makes sense but it does make him a whole lot more interesting

I was under the assumption that the cards you cast with Epic Experiment are cast from exile, not from your library. I could be wrong though, I'm not always super comprehensive with my rules.

They copy pasted the entire rule block from another card that DOES let you play lands from the top. Melek def does NOT let you play lands.

Melek is on the field, as is Mirror of Fate.
1. Activate Mirror of Fate.
2. Replace deck with 2 Pyretic Rituals, 4 Seething Songs, 1 Fireball.
3. Play each Ritual and Song, building into a 37pt Fireball.
Since these Rituals, Songs and Fireball are outside of the game and not actually a part of the deck, would this be legal?
Nope, "exiled" is different from "outside the game".
You need something like Selective Memory to exile the necessary cards first.
