I know it sounds alot like "the dog ate my homework", but I worked on it for about 4 hours last night and when that storm front blew through, I lost power and all my work. Going to start back on it today. I can guarantee you though, all you need to do is line up the mythics with the track sequence, and it follows the RtR layout to the T. As usual, there are a couple boxes listed that make absolutely no sense whatsoever. I found one box that was just listed backwards. Sometimes 1 row is displaced, and sometimes it's 2 displaced. Found 2 boxes that were just missing a pack. I think in those instances, either a card is getting misprinted, or a pack is dicked up in some fashion, and the pack just gets kicked out by whatever quality measures are built into the production line. If I have any time to work on this today, I'll put up what I have so far.
This is what I have so far...... Forgive me if it looks like hell, I'm not a forum posting guru....

Gaps in what I listed is where I have gaps in the tracks...... Dislocated rows, and what I assume to be some shifted packs and missing packs makes it tough. I've made what I believe to be educated guesses in some places due to that. Any input, obvious screw ups, or help is greatly appreciated.....
It is looking great! Good to know that a map is soon to come. I won't bother making one myself since you already seem to have it under control, not to mention I am a little burned out after the AVR one. Great job so far! I will take a look at the finished product and look for mistakes. Maybe even buy a box and try it out. Planning on looking into how the flips are packed as well? Not sure if it would be possible though since the flips might go into packs on a different basis than the rest of the rares. I would guess they also have their own print sheet. It is probably worth taking a look at it after completing the rest of the map. I am guessing the best way would be to look at the flips on each track within a box and start putting the pieces together if possible. It would be similar to just putting the other tracks together. Great Job so far!
I haven't worked on it any over the holidays...... it's almost done..... Honestly, don't know for sure when I'll finish it up....... But when I do, I'll post it.....
Hey guys, I went ahead and expanded the tracks for boxes produced in the U.S.A. Credit goes to Jmalex for cracking RTR and finding the basic order of tracks, n144man for compiling Avacyn Restored, and RLWJR for providing most of the Innistrad Map.
There are 4 tracks total:
Track A: 15 Mythics appearing twice + 6 rares appearing 4 times + 1 Kessig Wolf Run = 55 Cards
Track B: 13 Rares appearing 4 times + other 3 Kessig Wolf Run = 55 Cards
Track C: 16 Rares appearing 4 times + 2 Evil Twin = 66 Cards
Track D: 16 Rares appearing 4 times + 2 Evil Twin = 66 Cards
The track sequence is 22 packs long with tracks A and B appearing 5 times and tracks C and D appearing 6 times. The track sequence is read from right to left, top to bottom and is:
A B D A B D D A A B C A C D C C B D C B D C
There is almost always 2 rows displaced and those are usually the first row and the seventh row. They tend to be displaced my 1-4 rows, sometimes 5 or 6, but that is rare. 2-3 rows is most common.

All the tracks have been double checked by Vinzito and should represent 95% of boxes. As way of saying thanks, check out his box mapping apps for apple and android products in his signature.
Awesome, thanks for checking them, Vinzito. Since I did it largely by eye, I'll wait for your correction of Track C. I'll have to look into your box mapping app. It looks like it'll take some of the guess work out of mapping.
Thanks guys for finishing that up...... Just been slammed at work and couldn't find time to finish the map..... And I greatly appreciate the props for working out most of the map!!
Awesome apps Vinzito!!! Had a programmer friend of my own who had done something similar as a Windows app. What would REALLY put your apps over the top though, would be for it to pull prices from TCGPlayer or something similar, and then give expected values for the unknown slots. It could also, maybe, have an input where you enter how much you paid for the box, and then keep a running total of what you have opened versus what you paid for the box, so you know how you are doing financially. I think what you paid for the box could actually be worked into the EV calculations on the slots. I'd pay like $15 bucks per version of app if it did all this too!
Another question about your apps Vinzito..... I was curious why in the video you opened packs going down a column..... Wouldn't it be better to open a full 3 pack row as a starting point? Maybe somewhere in the middle of the box? You don't have a lot of places in the sequence of tracks where a track repeats one after the other.... It seems to me like you'd have a better chance of opening 3 different tracks, allowing yourself to nail down where you are in the track sequence much faster.

Thank you, that's a great idea, I think I'll add card value lookups next. I did add an ability to flag certain cards in the latest versions, but it would be nice to weigh your cost vs value.
As far as opening multiple packs in a column rather than a row, it's a gamble. I'm trying to find both the track sequence and the row shifting at the same time in fewer packs opened.
Another good method would be to open all of row 2, then open one pack on row 1, row 7 and row 8 to find your row shifting and track sequence. Since most of the time there are two shifts up to row 1 and to row 7. I suppose there is still a lot of technique to discover, but I'm basically trying to get everything in as few packs as possible.
Surely now that we have the map we can figure out an algorithm to determine the least number of packs required to find out which cards are of value. When I went through the boxes to put them in order, I usually started with the second and third rows. When I map, I usually start on the 6th row and occasionally add the 5th when I need to because it rarely seems to be misplaced.
I already plan on purchasing the app for Gatecrash when it comes out, but as RLWJR mentioned, adding prices for the cards from tcgplayer would really put the app over the top.
Its because of some of the people in this thread that I buy only SEALED booster boxes.
"Hey...I'll sell you 32 M13 boosters for 70 bucks"......but I won't tell you that I took Thundermaw Hellkite, Thragtusk, Ajani, and Sublime out of the box.
I think it's ridicilous Vinzito is asking money for his app. He's using the work of others who have shared theirs for free!
I shelled out for the Gatecrash version. I wasn't thrilled to, to be honest...but let's be serious here. We've got all the information we need to map by hand (although, as far as I've seen, Vinz is the one who introduced the sleeve portion of the equation to simplify row swapping fixes. I could be wrong there.) This app just makes things WAY simpler and accurate. There's a value add there that while I hate paying for, I find it reasonable.
You aren't paying for the map, you're paying for the ability to have the mapping be done for you. With the amount of people who come asking to know how it works, I don't think it is an unreasonable thing to pay for.
Considering the app decreases the time to map a box by 50% and I dont want to take the time to make an app to do that I will gladly pay the fee for the app. It also cuts down on human error and recording and transposition errors. Vinzito keep up the good work along with all of the other mappers out there.
On a different note making the mapping process impossible is pretty much impossible to do through current manufacturing processes. Yes, tumbling each box may do it however, the increases in cost of equipment and losses due to damaged cards would make this unattractive. Manually doing it is not an option as it would make the cost of the packs skyrocket and make MTG much less profitable, also not a solution. So, what should Hasbro do? Nothing but change the pattern every so often and even then all they are doing is giving us mappers something to do. I enjoy trying to solve this, its a fun pattern to try and figure out. And what should hasbro care if their pattern gets figured out, their product leaves the printers unadulterated and in the condition it should be in. Fear of mapping decreases the demand on the secondary market thus driving the sales of product from brick and mortar vendors up even though they are the ones who would have the most to gain from mapping due to being able to sell mapped packs at a higher price point than online retailers can. In the end I think mapping is here to stay, please feel free to comment on anything I have said.
I think it's ridicilous Vinzito is asking money for his app. He's using the work of others who have shared theirs for free!
I think Vinzito is really just doing it because of his passion for Magic and puzzle solving. $3.99 is very reasonable considering how much he has added to the community and raising awareness that box mapping is possible (amongst others, cheers). It will only push WoTC and Hasbro to up their game to try to deter this kind of activity from happening. In the end, it will bode well for the community because the integrity of the products won't be (as) compromised.
Believe you me, with what we have seen with GTC's booster boxes and different methods of shifting packs it won't be long before the packs/printing are so randomized that good data will be difficult to come by thus prolong the process of solving the map.
Yes, can't find them either.
it was stated in the thread that the EU/Belgium Map was almost solved, but nobody posted it. Then all eyes were on the mapping-app and it was only for the us boxes.
So my question is: do EU Boxes use the same mechanics like the US, where thee packs are ordered according to the 5 different covers?
Btw: I read the Avacyn Thread and that works for the EU.
Yes, the Belgium boxes are much easier to map. You can just look at the information from AVR and the method is pretty much the same. In addition to this, you can use the information I've gathered from the sleeve patterns, but just apply it to the different packing order of Belgium boxes.
Having some trouble with a box. Attached is my sleave map.
A couple of key notes:
1. When I opened the box, the left row was exactly as I've posted it here. The middle row had 13 packs and the right row had 11 packs. I moved the top pack from the middle row to the right row (it's the garruk#2 on top).
I tried the app in an old version that didn't complain about the sleeve map, then I updated when it wasn't working out, so I've opened the following packs:

There is a problem with your C track. I'll post the list when I'm finished with work.
Awesome apps Vinzito!!!
I already plan on purchasing the app for Gatecrash when it comes out, but as RLWJR mentioned, adding prices for the cards from tcgplayer would really put the app over the top.
"Hey...I'll sell you 32 M13 boosters for 70 bucks"......but I won't tell you that I took Thundermaw Hellkite, Thragtusk, Ajani, and Sublime out of the box.
If I was a betting man, I'd say they're updating their sorter come M14.
You can program up a free one then for everyone to use if you want. Capitalism and competition is great.
High Number Death Game
20 Questions (with Magic Cards)
Yes, the Belgium boxes are much easier to map. You can just look at the information from AVR and the method is pretty much the same. In addition to this, you can use the information I've gathered from the sleeve patterns, but just apply it to the different packing order of Belgium boxes.
Middle row, 2nd pack - Unbreathing Horde
Right row, 2nd pack - Dearly Departed
Right row, 10th pack - Undead Alchemist
Any help moving this around to work?
EDIT: Vinzinto sent me an email with the solution! Thanks Vinzinto!
