Ok, Prerelease thread #5824 here. Now, I know Stab Wound will be an answer a lot of the time, but for everyone, what card was your MVP for your whole night. Whether you had a good or a bad record, what one card seemed to do the most work?
It was at that moment that I realized: I'm kinda just making these things up. We can just write the rules the way we want them to work. People will have fun, and people will get it.
Izzet Staticaster. This guy is a crazy blowout. Actual plays I had with him:
T2 Shred-Freak, t3 Shred-freak, my t3 Staticaster nuke them both
T3 Caller of Songbirds, t4-6 Eyes in the Skies (apparently he had xInfinite of this), t7 Trostani's Judgment on some random dork. I finally hit my red source and nuke his entire board.
There were also a couple of times when I used him to kill X/4's with Annihilating Fire, X/3's with Stab Wound (including himself once so I didn't get stabbed to death), and X/5's with Augur Spree.

Armada Wurm was an all star as expected. Any game in which I resolved him instantly turned the tables. It can be hard enough to deal with a single 5/5 trample, two is insane.
Jarad's Orders and Stab Wound. Orders could search me a Daggerdome Imp on a stalled board and a scavenge critter. Or a corpsejack menace and a scavenge critter for a complete blowout. Playing Stab Wound s on Unleashed Undead Revelers was hilarious.

Pack Rat. Every match I pulled it, I won. As far as I could tell, nobody had a sweeper (never saw one throughout the whole event) and removal was pretty scarce. But if we're talking non-rare, my pool was pretty weak. Grim Roustabout unleashed was generally my best threat. A Deviant Glee on that and it smashed for trucks and survived most everything. I had one guy get desperate enough to put three cards into killing it, haha.
Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius did it for me. I ended up not playing Golgari due to a weak pool of green and black, my Guildpack rare was Grave Betrayal. However the dragon won me quite a few games.
T2 pack rat. Won a couple of games with that being the only spell I cast.
this, not close.
This card is completely stupid (no tap condition ???) most of the removal (if you are lucky to have one) cost 3. if oponenent start and play it turn 2, you cannot win.
A friend and I played in Two Headed Giant after the sealed event proper. Skull Rend was, by far, the rockstar of 2HG. 4 damage and 4 total cards of random discard from opponents? I ran four and was able to drop it on turn 5 every game. Twice that was followed by another on T6. 2 for 8ing your opponents is just back-breaking, to say nothing of the damage.

Not gonna lie.....Doorkeeper (Mike Wizowski from Monster's Inc). x/4 was great at stopping threats all game and then he mills people. Toss out a defender friend or another copy and you can quickly end the game. "Cool, block your attackers with both my doorkeepers. mill 4 EOT" Dramatic Rescue was also a gem all event.

I mean, hell, we're all on a forum for something that most people would describe as a "children's card game"...do what makes you happy. You are never too old to enjoy yourself.
This card serves two purposes. First it is a massive wall/beater that forces a lot of bad blocks/trades and once it leaves the field it's still a threat to make any one of your creatures significantly harder to deal with.
I really thought that centaur healer pulled a ton of weight. He just gave you a lot of time against rakdos.
Also, the selesnya rare was crazy good. So was the 1 mana guy who makes a 3/3 centaur as it turns on all of your populate cards. The selesnya guildmages were great.

The lack of global damage is what killed me with packrat. I had plenty of removal but every time I tried to kill it, my opponent would just in response, make a new dude. Without mizzium mortars, rift, or wrath there was no way to stop the stupid things.

This aint your girlfriends meta! This is a man's meta! TURBO META.
Pack Rat was a house in sealed for me. I do have to give a sealed 2HG prop to Guttersnipe. We pulled a 3-1 with it as our only win-con and the loss we were at a 32-12 deficit when it hit... finished losing with opponents at 1.:cool2:
1. Mercurial Chemister and Pack Rat are basically unbeatable if you untap with them.
2. Stab Wound is a nice one in aggressive Rakdos-style decks.
3. I played 2 Armory Guard in my Azorius deck, and he was better than expected - just the type of card you need when your Promo costs 7 and you have other guys like Skyline Predator and Sphinx of the Chimes.
4. I lost to the new Player/Creature Lava Axe more than one time. Hate that card.
5. Azorius Charm's Lifelink ability is probably one of the best modes for any of the charms in Limited. The regen on Golgari Charm is up there as well.
6. The Unleash guys are very, very good. I had trouble dealing with Splatter Thug every time. I think I ran into Carnival Hellsteed in nearly every Rakdos matchup I had, and if I didn't have Arrest or or the 5W Exile/Populate Instant, I was just straight dead. Chaos Imps was the same.
My lack of bombs meant my traitorous instinct had to get me there. My favorite was having a guy scavenge onto his loltroll for exactly enough to kill him. And I was sweating it the whole time he debated between that or playing something else. I went to 1 after his swing....
Frostburn Weird. Does so much for 2 mana. Blocks most early swings. kills the X/1s. And hits in for at least 1 if not more when no one wants to block em.
Rakdos Shred-Freak or Essence Backlash for me.

Played this once and it stuck and was almost able to come back. Drawing two eot and using it to kill off Niv-Mizzet was awesome.
This. Played against this and 'burned' my Izzet Charm to dig and he played it on his next turn. Crap! I scooped T4.
