Is no one else excited about this AWSOME reprint? This provides a ton of options for any colored mana ramp in standard, and with the spoiled cards, black may be a thing...

Allows cold casting Griselbrand in a BG deck many turns earlier, if it does nothing else. I'm sure it'll find a place readily... if only on my (and many other folks') list of "cards to beg, borrow, or get a job for."
It could be useful in a 3-5 color Control build,
where you can cast Negate or Murder with this the turn you cast it while ramping up your manabase for your main wincon (Griselbrand, Avacyn, Gisela, etc.)

I'm excited for my Commander decks, if nothing else. I currently have one copy of this, but more than one Commander deck. A couple more will help when I'm pitching the format to new players...

I got a foil 'Walker! A FOIL 'WALKER! Oh, it's just Tibalt... *Rrrip*
I wonder if it'll give architect some juice as well, ramp into this, drop a winner the next turn. Either way pretty good card for decks looking to play those big cost winners, is it all one color of mana or can you add 3 different colors?
to be honest i'd rather ramp and wait a turn to play and activate Gem of Becoming, which tutors 3 lands into your hand, thinning your deck and allowing you to easily play 5cc control (in RTR) without being an artifact that has to stick around to be useful.
that said, gilded lotus is still technically ramp and gets any color, i wouldnt be opposed to getting this into a creatureless MBC ramping to Diabolic Revelation and 2 Sorin's Vengeance, plus some removal or discard to prevent any answering.
Your deck needs to have something to cast for 8 or 9 mana, and you also needs to make sure that it can make do without the Lotus. I'm not seeing anything right now (except maybe Griselbrand), but one big Tooth and Nail-type spell could be good.
I suppose that we could try something like Primal Surge. Ramp into Rune-Scarred Demon to find the singleton Primal Surge, then the double Craterhoof Behemoth could finish the job. Might be fun.
I think this will be a core card for any control deck mainly because on turn 5 you play this and you still have mana open to disrupt w/e your opponent is going to do.
The moment when I saw this one on the spoiler list I almost choked on my drink out of shock. "Gilded Lotus getting reprinted?! Oh hell yeah!" were my first thoughts. My inner EDH-player just began dancing on the table for getting one of the best mana-stones reprinted! A colourless artifact that produces 3 mana of any colour, doesn't ETB tapped and has no drawback AND best of all, can be used in EVERY COLOUR (yes, this counts as blue mana ramp in my book)!
For other format: I don't know and don't care since I don't play standard/extended. (Well, I have one Legacy-deck, but I play with it quite randomly, not on daily basis)

Also modgaming Bur setups is kind of treading down a dark path
There is one thing that I find disappointing about reprinting this now: Shatter is getting replaced with Smelt. That means that your +3 mana could soon turn into "****. I should have kept that Negate in."
I thought that too, but as you mentioned tapping out to cast this, doesn't actually tap you out, which give it a heads up over most of the mana rocks you'll be casting in the early game. Also smelt/shatter/naturalize are typically sideboard cards and usually not worth running until you know they'll have good targets. Gilded Lotus is an extremely good target though.
How about "You may discard your hand, pay 5 life, rip this card, remove 3 digits from any number of target fingers you control, and concede at the end of the next end step rather than pay It Will Go Through!!'s mana cost.
Please don't make crap up. This is such an obvious word vomit it's ridiculous. Something about the internet and people thinking they need to say something to fit in..
While I don't play edh often. This cards was a big help in my edh deck I did have. I just think of this card simply as amazing. Sure its a great target n most likey will be the target of some sort to get rid of it but who cares. Its awsome. Pics awesom. Glad I got my 3 original ones. I'm notta fan of reprint versions. Yea I know its the same cards just diff symbols but I still preffer original
Nah no thanks. You can keep your nerd thug tactics. It is ridiculous that I cant trade MY cards using MY databased list which is easy to update and manage. The mod community here is the terrible, virtual MTG brownshirt club.

Heh, I have a casual Johnny deck that does this except it uses Druid's Repository, Somberwald Sage, and Elves (Llanowar, Verderan Emissary, and the Archdruid) as the engine with 3x Craterhoof as the alternate win-con (since it's a sinch to hard-cast). In all honesty, it's more of a Craterhoof deck with the Rune-scarred Demon/single-ton Primal Surge backup plan.
While it's obviously a just-for-fun deck, it has enlightened me to the absurd raw power of Craterhoof Behemoth. I don't know if anyone will ever break it, but I wouldn't be surprised with Wizards pushing ramp spells so hard if something in RtR makes it playable. My favorite match with this deck was a 2-man standard queue where I attacked for 600ish damage (thanks to flipping my deck and its multiple craterhoofs onto the battlefield, my creatures were all 50/50s or better) for the win against Delver.
I only played the 2 tix queue because I wanted to play against real decks but not have people leave the game when they saw me cast Druid's Repository or Elvish Archdruid. Was a nice surprise to actually win especially in that fashion.
A ramp spell that costs anything more than 2 mana is irreverent in standard, if you're looking at Tier 1. I mean people might try to make it work but other than that, EDH players can buy it cheap.

Irreverent eh? I think this card could be a player. Being able to ramp into Griselbrand t4 with the right set of cards means that it could be good. Also, control decks will like this as a replacement for Talisman. Sure it doesnt gain you life and costs 2 more, but it produces colored mana and 3 of it at that.

Perfect for any multicolor decks (including colorless) that can hold off early assaults.

If you play this card on turn five, you have nine mana on turn six if you play a land. That's ramp.
