I use the Duels Of The Planeswalkers layout, though I'm right-handed and keep my deck and GY to the left. I dare you to ask me how tempting it is to hold flying creatures in a floating pattern over the table.
Without a million 4 ofs of redudent effects and decent tutors its pretty much unplayable. Which is the opposite of this standard but actually a thing in its original print run. So basically it could be with a bunch of effort a goofy legacy deck that might sorta be ok/bad? I think I remember seeing a well built list do ok at a scg open way back.
But its not like the card was hard to obtain, I just really dont see the point. At mythic it would be fine but opening this in the rare slot for a draft is just ugh

Magic players have made it abundantly clear that their time is worth $0/hour in their opinion, so no sympathy there. -DR jeebus or something
Gentlemen,it can be done.we can rebuild it,make it stronger, faster, with more 6million dollar man quotes.
Even if someone goes 2-2 at a fnm with it, its actually like a 15-2 when playing battle of wits.
You're looking at it the wrong way. You play a 200 card deck, with 4 BoW and when you drop the enchantment see if an opponent scoops. I doubt anyone at FNM would want a deckcheck on a large pile like that.

We'll see if any other tutor effects come around to help fetch the BoW. In the mean time it has to have enough threats to last and keep the opponent busy, or straight out win if you can't get to your BoW. Again, we'll have to see what else we get with M13. It may even have to wait for RtR.
Here is the official thread for when BoW was a thing back in '06: http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=21763
It is completely useless to 99% of players, in that it actually does nothing at all.
Meanwhile, it is useful to the 1% of players who want to try playing Battle of Wits decks, but whenever a player in this 1% actually uses it, it annoys the heck out of everyone else by having a deck that is impossible to shuffle thoroughly in a timely manner.
reprinting this card is a waste of a rare slot, this core set is looking pretty ridiculous. with all these high costing cards coming out, this is probably one of the WORST sets i've seen come out in a long time.
You guys are crazy! Do you know what this means? We get to play Battle of Wits decks in standard! I've only heard distant legends of back when these were played in standard. The best thing is that people would bring them to tournaments and they'd eventually get in the same bracket, so that one round would definitely go to time.
Does anybody have some particular resources in order to get a good starting spot with this deck?
Hmm. 200 card deck is to inconsistnt. You'd have to draw into a tutor or the card itself. and then you'd have to get to turn 5 for the mana to play it hoping they don't have enchantment destruction.
BUT I SHALL BUILD THE DECK ANYWAY!

I posted the official thread for when it was in T2 on the first page. That should give you an idea of where to start. The first thing I noticed is that the mana base available for it now is far better than the tap lands used then. It seemed to run an obscene amount of answers for early threats, a decent amount of board wipes, and then a couple extra win cons in case you can't seem to draw/tutor for a BoW. I think with Terminus and (for now) Life's Finale, the board wipes are ample. We'll have to see what other early game answers and alternate win cons (seems strange to say it like that, since BoW is really an 'alt wincon') will be available.

Here's a short, but great write-up on different (somewhat) successful BoW decks during it's previous times in standard. It's old, but it links to a bunch of decklists that might act as a starting point for things this time around.
Terminus seems good board wipe for this as it will put whatever critters we play back into onto our deck. Grave purge might be good as well, so we can put whatever critters back.
They reprinted this card with only Standard in mind. It was already in Modern (9th Edition) and obviously Legacy, etc could already play it. It's literally useless in sealed formats. So, Wizards must want us to play it in Standard. Hope they give us some good tutoring stuff. Is Diabolic Tutor out of the set for sure?
If Transmute makes a comeback in the fall, it could work. 5-drops aren't exactly hard to come by, and as someone said Elixir of Immortality will help. You still need a 250+ card deck, which is a pain in the ass to shuffle. Trust me, I tried making it work just for gigs back in 9th...

but I can't wait for someone to build it good. I can't even fathom how to make it consistant enough to play.
