Clearly this thing is going to be a 1st pick every time, I mean, look at it, it's a 4 drop 3/3, with flying! Perfect for blue. It even has an all upside ability to go with it. It's cute. I love when they preview limited uncommons.

"I've always been a fan of reality by popular vote" - Stephen Colbert (in response to Don McLeroy)
What about this and Semblance anvil... the question is does the anvil keep making a discount on creatures after you play the Griff from exile?
It should work because semblance anvil says card types that share a type as the exiled card cost 2 less. It doesn't say anything about the card having to be imprinted still just that it share a type as the card you chose to exile.
I believe it would work. Fun little idea you have there.

It doesn't work. Think about it; where does the card go once you cast it from exile? To the battlefield. That link is no longer there between the "exiled card" and Semblance Anvil. And once you cast it and try to exile it again by some other means, the game doesn't remember that the Misthollow Griffin was exiled; it thinks it's a new card now and isn't imprinted to the Anvil anymore.
On a side note, this card is fun. Way fun. Sure it's infinite mana for creatures with Food Chain, which is awesome. I also want to make a deck that does nothing by exile things through Force of Will and Misdirection. If only there was a reliable way to get it back to your hand after you cast it...
I kinda mulled over Noble Hierarch vs. Chrome Mox. The Mox seems like a sweet way to protect half of your combo; exile the Griffin, then play it when you don't need the accel anymore. But Hierarch is a creature which accels you greatly when you get Food Chain down. I also thought about Draining Whelk for mid combo protection too, but not sure.
I don't like this card. It doesn't even feel mythic to me.
Isn't exile supposed to mean something? Or do we just have two separate graveyards now, for different things? That seems silly; one reason I don't like pull from eternity.

I don't understand this logic
You know why this card is mythic? Because it does something you're not supposed to be able to do in a normal game of magic
Thank you! This is exactly why it is mythic, y'all.
Also, it has potential to be a roll player in mono blue control decks...
Why yes I would like to pitch this Misthollow Griffin to Force of Will or Misdirection turn 1-3 to stop your threat, and don't mind if I do cast him later once I've stabilized...

I think this card is the new F u card of the block. So many cards are used to Exile instead of Kill.
Also I can see a revival of some of the Skaabs. This gives you plenty of graveyard that can be exiled and then brought back. Skaab ruinator might have a comeback.
However much I want to make Distant Memories good, this isn't the card to do it.
Look at the rules for Distant memories... Griffin would be exiled face up.
Any opponent who doesn't have Down Syndrome is going to let you put it in your hand, and then mock you for paying 8 total mana to search for and play a 3/3 flyer.
On the subject of the griffin itself, I am totally going to break it... in standard. Not quite sure how, but I will. Its one of my favorite cards in this set, just because of how neat it is (and my love affair with Griffins). I will agree that it doesn't feel very "Mythic". Maybe a little moreso if it had vigilance, or had a bigger p/t, but its still very neat.

1. Mine is just a rough decklist, welcome to suggestions.
2. If it was any bigger, it would probably be a Sphinx
3. Would love to see your decklist when completed.

No clue how good the mana base or the sideboard is.
From testing with a Modern version with even less card draw, 2 Moorland Haunt is enough to start recurring Griffins from the graveyard. Spirit tokens are nice bonuses.
Misthollow Griffin does sort of blow when alone, but Memoricide is a neat (but slow) way of searching them out. Surgical Extraction is a pretty neat way too, but it's rather unreliable, so it's sideboard only.
Yes, I know, Lingering Souls is more flying bodies more reliably, but Souls ups and dies to Black Sun's Zenith at X = 1 or Ratchet Bomb, while the Griffins never, ever, ever die. Permanently, at least. You can wall a Spirit Token with a Runechanter's Pike for days with Griffins, then wipe the board and eventually get your Griffins back.
The Griffins also happen to be a surprisingly short clock when you get enough of them out.
From what I'm seeing, the best way to maximize the Griffins is by being able to amass them on a consistent basis. If only exiling them from the yard is more efficient. Tapping three lands for Moorland Haunt and the Havengul guy who makes Zombies is nice, but you're looking at 7 mana per turn if you want to both exile and play it on the same turn.
Still, I like the concept. And I love the card in its entirety. I just wish it had more applications in Standard, or even Modern.

I like the idea behind Brain Freeze in that Food Chain deck but I was curious if you realized that Food Chain mana can only be used on creatures. It seems you'd need 6 mana the turn you'd want to go off with BF. I agree with Chrome Mox not being optimal, although it does allow for t2 SnT.
I once farted during the final match for prizes at an FNM. It was a tense moment, everything was quiet, control vs control, I was about to mana leak, thought about it.. and farted. Then mana leaked.

Plus it seems pretty good with Moorland Haunt, Skaab Ruinator, Molten-Tail Masticore and even Seance. Okay Seance might be a stretch.
Turn 1: Extract
Turn 2: Manipulate Fate/Foresight (if you didn't Extract on Turn one)
Turn 3: Foodchain
Turn 4: Infinite mana!
I like that magical christmas land. Only requires two cards in (the foodchain and the tutor) in a blue deck.
Custom Set: Pokemon: Generation 1
My mind numbing DC-10 stack!
Especially since you can run Force of Will as another way to ditch the bird. Use it to protect the Food Chain

Very good deck. Have you considered Serum Powder or Maga, Traitor to Mortals? In place of Manipulate Fate or Kozilek. Although Maga sucks with Show and Tell, it works better with Chrome Mox. or Elvish Spirit Guide?
I heard that Maga, Traitor to Mortals likes infinite mana.
..or you could just take the easy route and cast Emrakul, the Aeons Torn.
