In all seriousness, I think this guy is exactly what RDW and red in general needed to get in order to fill the place of everyone's favorite 1 drop, Goblin Guide. He certainly is interesting, and I look forward to running him!
As opposed to Goblin guide there is no inherent drawback to playing this except that he cannot attack until turn 2 on the play. I'd definitely play vamps with him in it.
Since this is the second (?) red vamp that we have seen with the +1/+1 on dmg, I wonder if it will become a staple. If so, Volt Charge may see a lot more play, possibly even with chandra.
Imagine a couple vamps with maybe one counter on them, and a shrine. Turn 4 chandra, turn 5 double volt, putting 4 counters on shrine, and two on each creature. Could be pretty serious.
This portrait was drawn moments before a man dressed in a white robe lept from the rooftoops 'fatally' stabbing him.
The man ran off and was lost amongst the crowd. A short time had passed and the nobleman had risen to his feet, laughing about the whole ordeal.
I do very much love the flavor behind this card and it's art. I really want it just for that, or to just make a noblemen vampire theme deck or something using INN and ZEN cards.

Brian Tinsman, Set Designer :?mana::snow::snow:
Legendary Creature – Human Designer (MR)
Brian Tinsman, Set Designer can only be cast during the third set of a block.
When Brian Tinsman, Set Designer enters the battlefield, ignore all flavor and mechanics of the first two sets in the block. "Ok so what do we have here... gothic horror? Scrap it. Expand the Devine Vs. Demonic duel deck to 244 cards and print it!"
2/2
Have to agree for now, this is the G. Guide replacement. I can see this guy as a solid bloodthirst enabler. Not sure what else red is going to get, can't wait to see what type of burn/removal this set has in store for us.
Yeah, auto 4x for anyone playing R or G/R, hell maybe anything/R.
You people saying this can fill the roll of Goblin Guide are crazy. This guy isn't horrible and may even see play, but he better work on filling the roll of Grim Lavamancer, Furnace Scamp, or Spikeshot Elder first. Personally I'd take the first two over him any day.
Since when is the King of pop considered a Horror Genre Staple
Doesn't this guy kind of remind you of the Michael Jackson?
All in all though, playable in RDW and the new R/B vampire deck which I am for sure now going to build. Should be a fun deck to play.
So far Werewolves and Vampires are two tribes I am looking forward to building. I just need to see how the other three tribes shape up.

Yea, those are MTG Bars. What can I say, I am a dork
I don't think he is the "replacement" for goblin guide but definitely a sign that red as a whole is changing to more of a sligh build. As opposed to where you can simply have a burn build now. Depending on the support this may be awesome.
Reminds me of Slith Firewalker. Haste made quite a difference though (guaranteed a first hit essentially if played right). On the other hand, the vamp does have a form of evasion and a lower mana cost.
Goblin Guide is the second-best red 1-drop of all time and should hopefully stay that way forever. Don't compare things to Goblin Guide, unless you want to start comparing card draw to Ancestral Recall.

Oh, dear lord. I see it. I can't unsee it.
Anyhoo, he's decent. Sure, not nearly as amazing as Goblin Guide is, but, he's a decent replacement. At least, we don't know of any better replacement.
So... I'm wondering. What's the flavor with his evasion? Humans are too afraid to block? Don't know he's a vamp? Revere him? Also, why's he strolling to the market in full day?
Huh. It occurs to me: between this and Stormblood Berserker, we've already got two highly efficient red creatures that utilize +1/+1 counters. Does this A. mean Volt Charge increases in viability, and B. leave room for some kind of funky U/R Aggro Proliferation deck?
I love him... but on the other hand... a vampire in red. I could see some kind of crazed, vampi, but I think he's closer to blue than red to be honest with you. Thoughts?

His vampire status is probably only unconfirmed hearsay at best, and treasonous. The bottom line is that he is a noble, and common folk MUST get out of his way if he demands it.
The nobility gives him the evasion, not the vampire status.

Hmm... he does look a lot like Michal Jackson. It kinda makes me want to enchant him with Empyrial Armor for the full MJ flavor experience though.
But in all seriousness, he could be pretty good in Standard if the format powers down significantly as many are expecting. He's certainly not an ideal 1 drop for a Sligh / RDW style deck, those decks really want something with 2 power to play first turn like Goblin Guide, Jackal Pup, or even Tattermunge Maniac. The only exceptions to this (and this is if we're talking about building an ideal Legacy Sligh deck) would be Grim Lavamancer if you're running fetchlands to support him or Figure of Destiny if you reaaaally feel the need to have some late game creature options.
So is he Legacy playable? Unfortunately no, unless Vampires somehow becomes a real deck at some point so the fact that he's a pretty good 1 drop Vampire makes him relevant. Could he be playable in a Standard deck? Sure, as long as the format powers down a bit.
This card is bad, grim lavamancer and spikeshot elder are perpetually better than this guy ever can and will be.
You, uh, realize that fetchlands are rotating out of Standard, right? And that Spikeshot Elder doesn't click into place until you've got three mana up, right?
And that by the time Elder's up and running at full capacity, the Noble's easily up to +2/+2, brought friends along, fed Stormblood Berserker, and is swinging that turn for a total of six damage done (assuming no blockers the entire way) over the span of his presence on the board?
Lavamancer and Elder are turns 2 and 3 cards, respectively. Noble is a turn 1 card - the point of comparison you want to make is with Goblin Guide, not the other two. And even then, he's got better long-term impact than Guide, at the cost of some short-term power - something that the cards you're using as a basis of comparison lack entirely.
It'd be like saying Slith Firewalker was bad because it's "only" a 1/1 with Haste. You'd have to miss the point with a margin of error wider than a Fox News Census! And be just as wrong!

They done gone and made a BETTER version of Slith Firewalker.
A BETTER version of a red creature that was all but a staple when it came out in Mirrodin 1.
It swings on the same turn as the Slith AND it has some form of evasion! And it's easier to play multiples?!
Yeah, I'll need four.

I totally missed the question, and this is the Correct answer. By the power of his pelvic thrusts, he is now a Horror Genre Staple.
