The 3 new walkers are all appropriately powered. None are going to win a game outright, and all three are only useful in the right deck. Planeswalkers seem to be moving more toward being specialized cards for specific decks rather than cards that go in every on color deck (looking at you Elspeth and Jace). Gideon is a little bit overpowered, but each other planeswalker in Standard is narrow, but powerful in the right deck. That's exactly how every mythic rare should be.
The big thing about Garruk is his triple G, which limits him pretty much to Mono Green or "I don't care about color requirement" decks. Other than Vengevine decks, I do not think Mono Green has made it to the top 8/16.
All of the Planewalkers are usable. Gideon is the best one, then the three new ones, then Sorin. None of the Planeswalker are Elspeth level, much less Jace 2.0, which is what it seems some people are wanting.
My friend ran him in a really good Jund list, it's really easy with dual lands. He actually got his ultimate off and got 6 6/6s.
Back in the LOR/ALA metagame, new Chandra and possibly the new Garruk would have been played in 5cc. Right now though, I think all of them are fairly underwhelming.

Current planeswalkers are not as a strong as Elspeth. If they are not equal to Elspeth, how can they equal Jace 2.0?
The thing is, people are wanting Jace and Elspeth ones that are completely splashable in any deck of the right colors. Chandra only works well in combo decks, Garruk in Mono Green, and Jace in a Mill deck. Gideon is the closest thing to a generic PWs. Sorin is just Sorin.
walkers won't ever be that powerful again walker heavy formats scare away new players
walkers won't ever be that powerful again walker heavy formats scare away new players
I do not find this to be true. I actually find a bunch of people who are brand new to the game who love to play with planeswalkers. Anyways, Planeswalkers will always be a format defining.
Garruk is good in any deck that can cast him. He makes 3/3 creatures, and then ancestral recalls next turn on his own. No other resources needed. That is retardedly good.
"Retardedly" good cards win tournaments. They don't not show up in them.
jace speeds the opponents clock up for me with my extended turbo fog lol
other than that, I really cant say.
I've only seen Garruk and Jace being used. Garruk seemed lackluster, but it could have been that the game state was just unfavorable for when it was used.
3) - Chandra: Cheapest M12 walker, and the only walker to have ever been printed with only a single coloured mana in the cost. And for a dirt cheap planeswalker she actualy has relevant abilities.
+1 hits bloodthirst (if you're into that sort of thing), but more importantly kills quite a few commonly played creatures.
-2 is Limited only by the quality of the spells in the format. Now we obviously don't have any Primal commands or cruel ultimatums to copy, but I assure you there are spells that make her 2nd ability more than worthwhile.
Don't know if you ever build to the -6 ability intentionaly... probably not; I see her being used more for the -2 one.
I personally run Chandra in my homebrew decks. So far, for three decks I have found three really useful spells to combo with her -2. In my R/B Control, I often use Sorin's Vengeance as a finisher, just a weaker Cruel in a manner of speaking. If I cast one off of her -2 ability? If my opponent hasn't gained life that's GG.
Second, I have a Red Emrakul, where you drop Chandra turn four, turn five -2 Geosurge and use your fifth mana to hardcast Emrakul?
I'm okay with garruk/gideon/jace, garruk and jace were new directions and gideon is really different from ajani.
As for Chandra i am disappointed it is similar to nissa revane. They had this idea where she was going to be good but they were afraid she be op so they lowered her starting loyalty, ends up being unplayable.
Sorin is strictly worse than that liliana in constructed and slighty better in limited. Either way new versions are in the next block so we'll just write off them off until then.
My friend said it's worth getting a playset because they wil be printing more cards that make it better. The card in question was stoneforge mystic. Now I ask you, do you think they will print instants and/or sorceries in the next set? Probably more likely than an entire graveyard set. Secondly the reverberate comparison is reasonable, however if you wanted to double up on say beastial menace or caress of phyrexia, reverberate says turn 7, but Chandra says turn 5. Just my opinion

What format do walkers define today?
Standard: Gideon is the best, and he's a 2 of in one of the best decks. Jace is a 1 or 2 of. No other top decks play them, except for UB Control and less than half of RDW builds.
Modern: Elspeth is a fine card, but hardly format defining. Tezz could be useful.
Legacy: Jace is powerful, but far from defining.
Vintage: Tezeret and Jace are both very very powerful, but they too are far from format defining.
Unless walkers are doing something extremely powerful in Extended, which I wouldn't know about because I don't follow in the least, walkers aren't defining any format right now. Even before the bannings, SFM defined Standard and Modern way more than Jace could.
Abe Lincoln: Yes, they will print instants and sorceries in Innistrad.
I think Chandra is good by herself, you don't have to build a deck around her. She kills Hawks pretty well and copying pretty much any sorcery or instant that isn't countermagic is nice.
Exactly why I think Chandra will see her day.
Abe... why would you think there isn't going to insants and sorceies in ISD? Zen was a "land set" be we sure as heck saw more than a bunch of tricky lands.
It really was a rhetorical question, obviously they will be printing instants and sorceries in INN. I was merely remarking on how stoneforge(when it was first printed) had only a handful of decent equipment to go find, collar, gear, ect., but then more powerful equipment(swords) were printed. In turn stoneforge skyrocketed, and my guess is that we may still see a spike in Chandra value.

Imagine double cruel ultimatum!!OMG
In order, I would rank the walkers:
1. Gideon
2. Garruk
3. Jace
4. Chandra
5. Sorin

Third, -2 Volt Charge. You get two bolts, and if you are running Shrine of Burning Rage, Stormblood Berserker, or Koth of the Hammer you just majorly accelerated your game.
Just to support your statement in which I've bolded
