1: what did you pull worthy of noting?
2: how did you end up doing?
3: what did you find that worked / did not work?
i personally pulled the hydra and the vampire "lord" (not really a lord per say). i ended up running a RGB bloodthirst deck and took third at my pre release event. things i can note; the goblin fire slinger guy is very good to pop blood thirst continuously without seeming like the big threat which is great while the one black unblock able sprite pulls off roughly the same thing however i liked the goblin a bit more as i had the boots and i could send my newly played bloodthirst activated creature at the player that turn rather then having to wait till after the attack, if you see the hydra TAKE IT well worth a first pick it gets big way to fast, i ended the game more than once with it at 16.
In what universe? If you build a deck like that, and ever draw that hand, I will personally come to wherever you live, perform complicated acts of awestruck ********, then disembowel myself to escape the world that allowed something like this to occur and validate you.
Core set seals are incredibly lucky in my opinion. At my store, we had the better players all out lose to worse players because of stupid card pools. (how are you goin to deal wit Sorin Markov, Frost Titan, 2 Consume Spirits and Djinn of Wishes) I finished 1-2, with nothing in my pool then dropped and drafted. Anyways, draft seems alot more straightforward and basic. All the mages are really good, especially the blue and green ones. White one seems underrated but can change the flow in a game fast.

pulled nothing of value in my pools, in my prize packs i got some nice stuff though
4-0-1 first day
4-0-0 second day
blue/white skies and white/red burn with fliers, neither really requires rares to operate well, only notable uncommons, rares, or mytics in the decks were oring and lawkeeper in both pools

"I'm fairly sure if they took porn off the Internet, there'd only be one website left, and it'd be called 'Bring Back the Porn!'"
—Dr. Cox, Scrubs
4-1 day 1, played black rares with good white instead of just a generally better bombless deck and lost to mad mana flood final round
day 2 went 4-1 again, this time had just the greatest deck ever but got flooded pretty hard in round 3 and game2 round 3 kept a hand on the draw and even said 'as long as i dont only draw lands for the rest of the game this hands amazing'... god i hate irony.
I then got paired up and bet the 3-0 opponent then got paired up again and bet the 4-0 opponent so nobody went 5-0 and i was top of the place (day 2 deck was nuts though, hydra, jace, mind control, birds/rampartgrowth/manalith allowed me to splash black for 2 sengirs and it was just madness)
Chandra, Chandra's phoenix, and Primeval Titan 3-2. Saw Chandra 2 out of 12 games, saw primeval 1 out of 12 games, and saw Chandra's phoenix 2 out of 12 games. 1 With Chandra out (was just a rofl win game). Overall had a good pool of cards, and didn't get the draws I needed. 3 Incinerates, 1 shock with 2 Archus webs for handlin them there creatures. With 2 slaughter cries for combat tricks. Wasn't a bad deck, but just didn't see my bombs as frequently as my opponents. Lost to the dam 10 life dealt 10 life gained Sorin's Vengence 3 different games, talk about a great bomb that just kept coming back to wreck me. Hexproof + pro creature is pretty much win, and lost a game as well. Lost 4 games and won 8 out of 5 rounds so not the worst, but not that great either.
As always pool was devoid of bombs or color synergy pulled 2 rare lands in wrong colors, i really don't know why i go to pre-releases:facepalm:. Also got shafted in a trade.:-/
Only good thing was i got to test my modifications to my EDH deck oh and i pulled a Chandra phoenix on the consolation pack.
ended up with a R/G Beatdown deck...
Had the 1/1 goblin player-spitter and a bunch of Red Bloodthirst creatures with some burn with some green beef and some green pump spells...
Anyways, here's some of my memorable plays last weekend:
>Both of us were at 14, he summoned a Primival Titan.
On my turn I cast Act of Aggression on the Titan and attacked with my Goblin Arsonist then Flinged the Titan after combat... he drew during his draw step and scooped...
>I'm at 20, he's at 17... he attacked and I didn't block (18), then he landed a bloodthirsted Carnage Wurm.
On my turn I cast Act of Aggression on the Wurm and attacked with a Goblin Arsonist and Sacred Wolf bring him down to 4...
he then Attacked with the Wurm and casted creature to defend... I top-decked a Fling and it was game...
I went 2-0 and took first place, only had 4 people at my lgs. We decided to hold an event anyways. I got a Sun Titan from the packs, and decided on G/W aggro. My first round opponent raged at the fact that I managed to pull out the titan every game. My other opponent wasn't annoyed at all, but rather I played a few games with him and a few buddies after the draft was over. Some people just can't accept people that are a bit lucky at times. I couldn't remember any other time, where a simple aura like spirit mantel saved my ass. All of us decided to split up a box for the prizes, 9 a piece. Not bad for $25 if you ask me.
Other noteables include: the FoF sphinx, Garruck's Horde, Skinshifter, Jace's Archivist, Swiftfoot boots ( I only saw 2 amongst the four players), and Archon of Justice
I went 3-1. I pulled a Jace, a tutor, 3 doomblades and the demon that tutors. Everything else was ****. Went U/B and won every game but 1 by tutoring for Jace and milling people out. Insane that Jace. Insane.
I got 3 acidic slimes and 3 ice cages
did good against everyone except the guy who got 3 hexproof elves and 2 of the angelic enchantments
he also ran 2 and 2 elixirs
he lost 1 hand all day which was to me
Honor of the Pure + Timely Reinforcements gets a reaction all the time. It got me a win even though I was mana screwed and I was stuck with a handful of uncastable burn spells.
3-1-1 Both Days, Both losses coming round 1 to mana issues. both draws coming round 5 to lock up a top-8 split
Pool 1 Had a Suture Ghoul, Grave Titan, Doom Blade, and some nut Green creatures, Also pulled some zombie infestations, but didn't play them for the lack of card draw, the suture ghoul was likely a mistake as well because I had a very small creature count and a really expensive curve. Druidic Satchel was a allstar. Round 3 my opponent had Jace, Memory Adept. 2 Jace Erasures, 3 Divinations, 2 ponder. Game one I lost due to his Skinshifter I had no answer for, game 2 I won with 0 cards left in library, game 3 I won with 1 card left. Mill is a BRUTAL m12 limited stradegy if you open a jace.
Pool 2 saw me playing bant with Garruk, Ageis Angel, 2 Canyon Drakes, 1 Solemn Simulacrum, 1 rampant growth, 2 Webs, 2 Ice cage, 1 pacifism. outside of the obligitory round 1 mana issues none of my games could be considered close.
I spent all weekend drafting Gu to very great success
Counter Burn, 8 counters, Furyborn Hellkite as a finisher in the midnight draft. 0-3 drop. Highlight of the night: Activating Furyborn Hellkite's Bloodthirst only to realize that Mind Control was reprinted. Woops.
I opened useless rares (except a Druidic Satchel, which was awesome), but I made an extremely consistent deck. 3 Doom Blades, 2 Sengir Vampire, 2 Skywinder Drake, 2 Aven Fleetwing, 2 Frost Breath, Mind Control, Small pox, Devoiring Swarm, Sorin's Thirst. Went 4-0, and opened an Inferno Titan and a bunch of random rares in the prizes.
1. Only a Grave Titan. Other than that all of my rares were unplayable and I don't think any of my commons or uncommons will be sought after cards.
2: 3-1-1 in the Swiss, lost in Top 8. I playedBUG with a bit of control but mostly just a wave of dumb creatures.
3: Hunter's Insight never seemed to do much for me. The one time I casted it, it was just a "win-more" card. Other than that it ended up dead in my hand the other times I drew it. Crumbling Colossus + 2 Gravediggers was pretty tech for me.
Had some fantastic matches today; was at a stalemate with my 2nd-round opponent for the longest time, trying to keep my G-Laws on the field to tap down his Trollhide-d Arachnus Spinner so my flyers could go through, but he kept removing them until I top-decked Disentomb.
1xllanowar elf 1xarachnus web 1xacidic slime 2x brindle boar
the obvious stars were the inferno titan, the dragon, lavamancer, and cudgel trolls. overall i felt like every single card in my deck was solid though (stingerfling, acidic slime, etc).
i won several games on the back of fling alone though, doming for 4++ several times. my two favorite plays of the day being: swing with inferno titan, killing your blockers with his trigger, pump him once, hit for 7, fling for 7 for exactly lethal. and swing with a cudgel troll and a rhino... you block one? ok titanic growth the other, take 8, fling for 8 more... gg?
Skinshifter, Automaton, Rootbound Crag, Chandra's Phoenix, Mind Unbound, Elvish Archdruid as the rares.
No card with bloodthirst in the pool.
Got a relatively solid RW, but without any real bombs sans Serra and Volcanic Dragon. I had also Lawkeeper, Incinerate, Fling, and Chandra's Outrage.
I lost first round against a brutal RB bloodthirst deck - first turn Tormented Soul or Goblin Fireslinger, second turn Stormblood Berserker, third turn Bloodrage Vampire, fourth turn Gorehorn Minotaurs. In BOTH GAMES. The guy had also Deathmark, two Doom Blades, and two Incinerates. Yeah, and Grave and Inferno Titan, that he even needn't to cast :o:o:o
Second round, I went against a weak RGU deck...but the guy just had a gun loaded with silver bullets. First game went like: Me: Assault Griffin. Him: Chandra's Outrage. Me: Adaptive Automaton. Him: Manic Vandal. Me: Rusted Sentinel. Him: Naturalize. Me: Serra Angel. Him: Plummet, Me: Volcanic Dragon. Him: Stingerfling Spider. Then he proceeded to beat me to death with the Spider. Seriously...W...T...F :mad::mad::mad:. Second I got screwed with all seven plains in my deck on the battlefield and a hand of five red spells at the end of the game.
Third round, I won a game, then I lost one to a fast bloodthirst start. In the decisive game, I got him to 14-2...then he cast Sorin's Vengeance and killed me two turns after.
I won the fourth round, and knowing that I cannot be better than 3-3, I dropped and went for a dinner with my wife.

In my sealed pooled I pulled Scrambleverse, foil Rootbound Crag, Glacial Fortress, Sundial of the Infinite, Sutured Ghoul and the one card I wanted the most out of any card in M12, Garruk, Primal Hunter. So pretty awful rares for limited, but I was super happy to get Garruk. I had a terrible choice of removal, and was completely outclassed by some of the other decks there that got insane things like Inferno Titan and Chandra, the Firebrand in the same card pool, another had 3 Doom Blades, 3 Shocks, and 2 Incinerates, and there were actually several other pulls like this. I played with Green/red, but it was just too slow with not enough removal. I ended up getting 8th in the main sealed event, but went on to win the draft we did afterwards, and got a Bloodlord of Vasagoth. Blue/White, what I played in the draft, seems very good in M12 limited, with lots of cheap flyers and removal like Ice Cage, Pacifism and Oblivion
Also
Did anyone else notice people using a lot of Enchant Creatures?

I thought this was really strange. There were a lot of times where I got ahead by using pacifism or mind control on trollhide/goblin war paint/spirit mantle
Maybe it's just my store that doesn't fully understand 2 for 1's
All colors were pretty shallow, but I ended up with an aggro UR deck that relied on early beats with Phantasmal Bears and finishing it up with fliers Canyon Drake and that 3/1 flier) and some removal in Aether Adept and Ice Cage. They just opened up the small window that was often needed to finish off my opponents. Otherwise it would be big beats with the FoF Sphinx (Awesome thing btw, really good for those lategame topdecks).
Went 4-2 and took 6th out of 24. Lost one game to a BGR deck that had Dungrove Elder and Vengefull Pharaoh and numerous Raise Dead effects. Other game I got colorscrewed and pounded by beefy fliers while waiting for my second red source to do a Act of TreasonFling combo for the win.
Never noticed what all the other people are complaining about bombs.... it's like some other posters said: be quick and extremely aggressive or save your removal for the big guys and take some hits.
I pulled a substantial amount off griffins a sun titan and a granda abolisher but didnt pull any counter spells or removal and only one pacifism so i only went 1-5 bad draws plus mind control on my titan in 7 of those matches
but my friend went 7-0 when he pulled 2 $%#^$&% chandra, the firebrands and a sorin markov.....Do you everfind that everyone around you gets amazing pulls but you never do? one day ill be the guy who went undefeated.......I swear, im amazing at draft cause it takes actual skill but no one hosts them around here and i cant play magic online....doomed to prereleases ffor the rest of my life
