I do agree with you that It is unplayable outside of decks that can essentially just play it for free since it is not as good as terra stomper once it resolves.

It's about equal to Terra Stomper when it resolves. It plays nicely with chroma in addition to being the same 8/8, trample, while Stomper plays nicely with beast tribal cards. It's not like uncounterability matters once something resolves.
Won't your turn 5 consistency be hurt by adding more threats (and subtracting, presumably, something that helped said consistency)?
Basically, it's a bunch of low cost elves and mana dorks. The more you get on the field, the more you can, until you run out of hand. There is one spell, 4x Vines of Vastwood, and that's it. The rest is critters, mostly small ones and dorks, and then some bigger ones like hydras.
My elf deck has a high density of threats, with a total of 14-16 cards that need to be answered somehow. With this, it's upped to 16-18. All of them I can play turn 5 consistently, and I mean everything that was in my hand (except maybe a vines of vastwood) is on the field or GY. I will usualy have to make you decide between letting me keep: Protean Hydra, Khalni Hydra, Kicked a lot Joraga Warcaller, Elvish Archdruid, or Omnath. Your choice.
You act as though board sweepers/2 for 1 removal spells don't exist. Don't get me wrong, I think this card is awesome, but it probably won't be the best thing ever.
I think we ought to wait until we see the rest of ROE before we deem this card "playable" or not.
For all we know, we'll see a :1mana::symg::symg: sorcery that puts six 0/1 green plants into play!
We already have something thats better then that....The new Ooze token producer.
Turn 1.Forest, Llanowar Elves, or Birds of Paradise
Turn 2.Forest, Lotus Cobra, or Elvish Archdruid
Turn 3. One of the sac lands, add GGGGGG to your mana pool. Play 5 5/5 Ooze tokens.
Turn 4. Forest Eldrazi Monument, play the Hydra forG . GG :D:D:D this guy is gonna be annoying
Mono green aggro disagrees. Hell, with Khalni Garden, you essentially pay two of the mana with one land, and get an emergency blocker. Lawnmower Elves further accelerates it.
I think Mono-green aggro (not Eldrazi) may be the new Mono white aggro.

The ooze token maker produces 2 2/2 tokens for GGGGG. It costs XXG.
So, basically:
T1. Forest, Elf
T2. Khalni Garden. Elf. Optional: One more elf.
T3. Forest. You get Hydra and may or may not have mana remaining.
This doesn't sound like a good idea, but again, it's a T3 drop at fastest in Standard on the first drop. Later drops, though, are made much faster, thankfully. (Hell, if you drop two 1-mana elves turn 2, you can ALMOST play two on turn three!)
Admittedly, I kind of like the idea of getting out this many beefy creatures this fast for this cheap (especially the "this cheap" part), but it's not the best by any stretch.
Mono green aggro disagrees. Hell, with Khalni Garden, you essentially pay two of the mana with one land
But what does it do that other available cards, which aren't even being played, don't? So you can find a way to get an 8/8 trampler out on turn 3. Couldn't we before? Did you read the first post?
I intend to piggy-back it onto avenger of zendikar in my GW eldrazi deck. Im gonna play a 5/5, 5-7 plants tokens, and an 8/8 with trample in one turn (usually around T4 or T5).
Recent discussions here and elsewhere have made it clear that there seems to be a group of players who consider blue and control synonymous, as if they somehow started playing a game with four identical and "bad" colors that do nothing interesting because they just "turn men sideways" and then true, glorious blue, the only thinking person's color.

I'm not saying it isn't a threat. I'm saying better cards already exist, in the same block even, and aren't being played except in casual.
But what does it do that other available cards, which aren't even being played, don't? So you can find a way to get an 8/8 trampler out on turn 3. Couldn't we before? Did you read the first post?
Nah, I took out canopy cover. Originally in for the shroud, but since it ain't instant it's not that great.
Without the balance of the set, I'd say...decent. If green does nothing else, it pumps out creatures. So even 4 or 5 creatures is enough to get it's cost down. Admittedly, this says "win more" more than it says "win" but I'd say it's half decent.

Well, I actually won a local standard tournament with Terra Stomper in the deck and dropped 1 game all day. It was a definite meta call, but I caught a bunch of people with their pants down and flattened them with a horde of big, green creatures and a splash of black for Maelstrom Pulse. It beat vampires, bant, and RDW. If the poster catches people off guard, it could work occasionally. An 8/8 trample can seriously squash people if no one's running removal that can kill it.
this is an afinity green creature and this guy looks fine when you play for 0 like afinity or you're trying to hardcast a Thoughtcast nop, im sure .
terra stomper can't be contered first ability rocks, but if you can get a 8/8 trampler for 0 is a good chance for give a slot to this guy to shine and a spell countered by cancel or Essence Scatter (in standard of course) isn't a bad deal when your spell is free.

its obviously a Timmy card for casual kitchen table magic. how long has it been since any of us took this kind of thing seriously in constructed? I mean, I used to LOVE LOVE LOVE my Force of Nature. I played one in my first ever magic deck. It was awesome. It was huge. My opponents couldn't deal with it. One guy had a terror in his deck (just 1) and another could occasionally fireball it for 8, but that was it.
Its been 13 years since I've played that type of magic. But i still remember how awesome my Force was. This card is for that type of magic. not for us.
The difference is, you ramp to Terra stomper to get it out turn 3. You really don't have to with this. Some Mono-G decks could ramp it out t3, but most will get it out with little to no ramping t4. It's like leatherback baloth's older bro. Between the 2, there could be a competitive Mono-G deck.

This, this, this.
I actually miss the days when I would look at something like this and a) fall out of my chair at its sheer hugeness and b) have at least 5 different decks in mind to play this in.
But that was a while ago.
I haven't built a big stompy monogreen deck in about 5 years b/c by and large, they just kinda suck in multiplayer and are fairly boring to play in duels. Accelerate, drop fatty, smash, basically ignore anything opponent does, smash, drop more fatties, *yawn*, smash some more, win.
As long as 1-2 mana removal spells exist, big dumb green creatures will hold little allure for me anymore.
@R_e: BEST. POST. EVER. Just..wow. (And incidentally, you're quite right about the price.)
Yeah, I was here for Zendikar rumor season. (I've been here since Saviors) I know Terra Stomper isn't worth the paper it's printed on. It's still a cool, dark horse card that can kick some serious ass out of nowhere, though.
Oh, and I know, my sideboard looks weird. Kalonian is good against removal.dec with its 7 creatues, one guy runs here, though, and Naturalize is the best answer I have to the Runeflare Trap deck.

Yeah, I remember that kind of time. Of course, Thorn Elemental was my champ, weilding a Loxodon Warhammer. Of course, a year later, I discovered Darksteel Colossus and thought it was the most broken card ever printed. It wasn't until 9th that I got Force of Nature, though, who was cooler than Kodama of the North Tree, since I could play pump spells on him. Yeah, winning that tournament was a trip down memory lane, smashing with insanely big, green fat. It just looked like the local meta was ripe for it, though, since no one was running removal that could kill something bigger than X/3. I even got to eat the 1 of, Stone Idol Trap in RDW alive with a 15/15, Omanath. That was not a good day to be a tiny, little 6/12.
Oh, and that wasn't the only time I tried some crazy ☺☺☺☺ like that. I won an Alara block constructed tournament with a Naya, fat deck. We're talking Mycoid Shephard, Spellbreaker Behemoth, Wooly Thoctar, + black splash (with Rupture Spire since the deck often did nothing turn 2 anyway) for Putrid Leech and Maelstrom Pulse. I even had Thornling in as a 1 of. Anything not horribly overcosted can win a tournament if the meta is right.

Okay, so what does this theoretical deck do, to get this out without ramping lands on turn 4? Sounds like you're talking about something like this:
1) Forest, Lawnmower
2) Forest, Leatherback Baloth
3) Forest, Leatherback Baloth
4) Forest, Khalni Hydra
More of a pure stompy strategy as opposed to relying on Rampant Growth and other 'ramp', yeah?
Not bad. You're going to attack for the win turn 5.
But while we're at it, how about this, instead?
1) Forest, Lawnmower
2) Forest, Leatherback Baloth
3) Forest, Leatherback Baloth
4) Forest, Overrun
That's a much more decisive play.
Haha, I was hoping somebody would enjoy it.
For sure! I love that deck. Nice work getting Kalonian in on the fun
Yes, thank you for saying it better than I did.
