Does Soul's fire target players? The problem I see with Ob is that he doesn't have trample so making him big doesn't do much good if they can chump him. Maybe a jund build with a few souls fire would allow you to pump ob and then souls fire them for a large amount of damage. I'm guessing 4 color could still work with all the mana fixing we have today.

With Ob, its the target oppoenent loses 3 life that's the kicker
CREATURES:
4x Lotus Cobra
3x Tidehollow Sculler
4x Putrid Leech
4x Birds of Paradise
4x Knight of the Reliquary
3x Ob Nixilis, The Fallen
SPELLS:
4x Path To Exile
4x Duress
4x Maelstorm Pulse
3x Sign In Blood
LAND:
2x Terramorphic Expanse
4x G/B Fetch
4x W/B Fetch
4x Swamp
6x Forest
3x Plains
And I actually think Bloodghast might deserve a spot in this deck.
Maybe cut the scullers to board and main Bloodghasts, not neccessarily becuase you want it as a two drop, but because this deck plays so much land he could easily steal some games.
Vines are really good. At worst it keeps one of your guys alive. At best it nets you card advantage, and it can push through the last bit of damage for a win.
Not sure I like birds in this. There's only 8 sources of first turn green (or any green), there's only one card that is over 3 mana and there's no x spells.

I don't like vines, I rather play creatures, removal, or sledge over it. And your talking about your list which is more Bwg, mine is more Gbw, and I think the deck needs more stability with the off colors, and it allows some sick turn 2 and turn 3 plays. I've had
turn 1 land, bop
turn 2 lotus cobra, fetch, KotR
Turn 3 land, Ob, KotR tap for Fetch and land.

This deck in al its incarnations is one of the more widely used decks. In my opinion its a net deck... but I am sure everyone but me disagrees there.
Ob is a very powerful card especially when he can come into play with a not yet used fetch land and enough mana for harrow.
I am not sure how it fits but I like Elvish Piper for this reason. You can potentially get him into play and have enough mana to lay out 9 dmg and have a 12/12. If not then Mr. Elf was targeted for removal, and not Mr. Ob.
I made an anti deck today just because of the sheer numbers of this deck hanging out in MWS. I used the same but with Elvish Piper + Clone and Rite of Replication. My idea was that when they cast Ob I can play my own instantly. Oddly enough it actually worked. Only one instance of a player playing a land in response which did deal 3 damage but after that Ob was out.
i like the idea of pathing my own realm razer... or even just my BOP in the event that it could give the extra push i need to get to a win.
with mana not being a problem, i also like the idea of wargate. increases the odds of getting key cards into play as well as giving me a small utility belt function in the form of Rampaging Baloths and Realm Razor.
lastly, i like utilizing every last drop of potential out of the KOTR. Thus, 1 Gargoyle castle to tutor up if the situation calls for it.

I like how this idea has been, and it'd be a shame to see this thread die out and possibly not be resurrected until someone else brings it up. Honestly I like control elements in this deck. I opted for no Baneslayers, honestly if your going to include Baneslayer you might as well have the count to 3 or 4 because the minute it hits the board and they don't answer...well Ob Nixilis just seems more like an Icing on the cake kind of card. Sculler is really good, however I'm not against switching it out for Putrid Leech simply because Leech is a blocker... I added in two copies of Sorin, sure he competes with Ob Nixilis in the 6 cost range but his setting to 10 life and his Vicious Hunger ability are great to put the opponent on a faster clock. I can't really decide between Harrow or Heart Expedition. Harrow ramps faster and also puts the lands into play untapped which is important for when you want to keep mana open for a doom blade or if you have a lotus cobra you can cast an Infest. Expedition however you can save up so that on the turn Nixilis comes into play you'll have enough counters on it anyways so you can crack it (and if you have multiple ones out it'll really be a blowout). I wanted to post something that didn't just say "bump" because this is a really interesting thread.
4 Lotus Cobra
3 Ob Nixilis
3 Knight of the Reliquary
3 Tidehallow Sculler/Putrid Leech
Eh, there just isn't a whole lot new coming for the deck. I really think it will be one of the Tier 1 decks come rotation and will have a ton of people talking about it (whether with Ob Nix or Baneslayer), but there aren't any tournaments for it and so there isn't really anything to talk about. Some of us are doing serious testing on MWS though, and it holds up against a lot of decks. I really haven't had a problem 2/3ing any archetype I've seen so far. I think the worst one for me was actually a mono white lifegain deck that will get hated out by vampires and this deck is strong against vamps or at least a decent matchup. Aggressive suicide black does not like seeing Ob Nixilis.
i don't even like the expedition all that much. it's two mana for nothing. then play lands to get its effects. harrow does it's job with ramping AND pumping the knight.
also. i don't think i like the idea about using sorin. if i were to run any planeswalker, it'd be elspeth. she's able to give the evasion our big creatures need and is just something an opponent doesn't want to be looking at from the opposite side of the table.

But control never dies; it simply adapts and becomes a different machine. The icy grip will never let go.
To be fair harrow costs 3 and the expedition only 2. In a landfall deck I think expedition is superior since you can easily drop it 2nd turn without the need of birds or elves.
2 vs 3 mana cost is huge and I would only prefer harrow if i ran 4 copies of a 1 mana accelerant since most turn 2s are 3 mana available.
Yeah, this deck is all about out efficienting (not an actual word) the opponent. You are playing cards like Putrid Leech, a 4/4 for 2 with pain, Sculler which is just awesome, a demon that gets big and sends bolts to the face, a knight that gets bigger whenever you play a fetchland and a snake that can beat face for two and turns a fetchland into a black lotus. Other decks will be going for a tribal theme or a controlling theme, but you are going with the fact that any creature you resolve makes them wish they had removal in hand.

No joke, now getting 5 mana on turn 3 is just that much more likely.

Turn 1 land, bop

and that's just what I've encountered so far.
