I believe that ______ is the worst set ever. On par with the suck of Homelands and or Prophecy. There are many reasons that I hate _____, but I better get the good points out of the way, the few gems in the rough.
*______ is a great mechanic, it's innovative and fun and I hope we see this built up more in _______
*______ I can't believe that they actually tried this, and they pulled it off perfectly!
ok, now to the bad
_______ has a terrible story. ______ story is an unoriginal story about A youth that is different from peers around him/her, and this causes him/her to go on a grand journey to save the realm. It's the exact same thing we saw in ______ and _______, it's unoriginal and boring.
_______ rares are terrible. Out of the X rares in this set, only Y are even worth the money you pay for the pack. There are no Chase rares worth pulling in this set at all (except there are, I'm just ignoring _______ and _______for my argument, because they actually suck)
_______ doesn't do (theme) good enough. _____ tries to pull of building around ______ in a way that ______ has, but fails to be different enough/isn't powerful enough/is too far away from ______. Building our decks for us around ______ is stupid.
_______ makes control/aggro/combo stupid good! this sets theme _____ makes control/aggro/combo ridiculously good! I can't believe Wizards would do something like that and hose _____ while making _____ so good.
_______ makes _____ color (usually green or blue in that blank) suck/too good. _____ has already been stupid/not had enough support since day one! why they would give/take away _____ power like this is stupid.
These reason are why I declare ________ the worst set ever/the reason magic is dying.
Funny thing is that I've been looking for that obligatory thread every 3 months that says that ___ set sucks, but so far, after 12 pages of forum topics, I still can't find it. Go ahead, I'd really like to see some of these threads that says that says that "Future Sight sucks", "Planar Chaos sucks", "Time Spiral sucks", "Ravnica sucks"...etc etc
This thread is ____ing stupid. I know he's just trying to play off of the "I hate Lorwyn" threads, which are bad enough on their own, but this is just ridiculous and holds no real informational content.
Ironically, I was thinking of posting something exactly like this in the humor section
You fool, how could you call _____ the worst set ever? It is clearly better than _____.
if I have cards from set _____ in my binder, can I pay 1 to change their name to something that doesn't suck?
I'm sorry Sakura, but I completely disagree with you about _____. It may not have been liked as much as ______ was back in the day, but it gave us so many powerful cards.
But if you're such a _____ as to not see that, I'll gladly give you all of my ____ for your _____.
(I should be careful, that last bit sounded dirty.)
(_____ edit) Apparently, different length dashes show up as different cards in Autocard. Interesting.
(2nd ___) Yeah, this probably should be moved to humor

How can I argue about a set that gave us ______, green was completely unplayable until that came out.
Explains why it is a $50 card.
Unfortunately every other card in the set is repeatative and jankey. I would so much rather have _____

try "Is it fair to call Future Sight 'Coldsnap with Dual Lands'"
How far back does the forum go anyways? I wouldn't think that it'd be far enough to get much useful info from Future Sight, let alone PC, TS or Rav.
EDIT: Holy battered carp on a stick... if you're willing to go spelunking deep enough, it goes all the way back to Betrayers of Kamigawa
This is true. We've definitely seen this for literally every set since MTGsalvation became the big rumor mill (around 5th dawn maybe? I can't quite remember). I mean (quoting threads we've seen), Time Spiral block was bad because the first two sets were just completely unoriginal rehashes of things we already have, and the last set was way too random, and had no consistancy. Ravnica block was a big rip of invasion, and way too many of the guild mechanics were bad or poorly executed. Kamigawa was awful, for too many reasons to list here. Etc.

For the most part, those guys were right. Planar chaos did suck balls because it was uncreative and Coldsnap was bull because it was full of unplayable crap. Good to see that no one complained about Time Spiral, Future Sight, and Ravnica though, you know why? Cuz they were good sets. Not junk like Lorwyn.
People did complain about Time Spiral, they thought that the reprints would screw up the format, and that some of the cards were just unfun. The sheer amount of complaints about FS were enough to fill the Grand Canyon. Ravnica received less complaints then normal, but a lot of people were still angry and did the obligatory rants.

I noticed that there really weren't any bashing Rav, I remember one or two bashing the guild model and saying WotC was building our decks for us. But it did follow Kamigawa, and compared to that, yeah. Also I just passed over the Future sight material. people have quoted the threads bashing that set already.
Hey, I actually agree with those guys. Planar chaos did suck balls and Coldsnap was full of unplayable crap. Good to see that no one complained about Time Spiral, Future Sight, and Ravnica though, you know why? Cuz they were good sets. Not junk like Lorwyn.
There was a Future Sight topic, and I for one think that Ravnica is absolute garbage in retrospect. The only truly good design was from Dredge - the rest of the set was unoriginal (all the good cards were lands, a new Arena, a new Memory Lapse, and a new good burn spell). Other than that, the only good rares were Hierarch and Firemane (even LftL is becoming less popular since Dredge is more explosive and less about card advantage with the advent of Bridge), and overall I just thought it was stupid. As a set out of the block it had probably the worst guild of all (Dimir), and the eventual Boros deck didn't even use the multicolor cards from Boros, and so on for the other guilds (not that Dredge decks cared about color or Selesnya decks were ever good for very long, or Dimir played at all).
Now Time Spiral - I liked it but I know for a fact a lot of people hated it for bringing back a level of nostalgia that way too few players could connect to. In fact, MaRo admits Time Spiral was one of the mistakes of the last year. Also, Future Sight was HEAVILY bashed for being horrible, when I said it was one of the few sets where you could just look at the cards and say "this will get played for sure," unlike a lot of previous sets.
Also, there might not have been a topic for it, but Saviors was BAD. Everyone bashed Betrayers for being bad but Saviors was several times worse than Betrayers. Champions I actually thought wasn't as bad as people say it is.
If you ask me, here's what I think was good and bad, going back in time as far as Onslaught:
Good:
-Lorwyn (possibly the best limited environment ever, there are plenty of constructed-worthy cards that aren't broken like Mirrodin)
-Future Sight (poor organization in design, but the cards were very nice, and aesthetically I'd rather open Future Sight than Planar Chaos or Time Spiral because it just feels more "fun")
-Time Spiral (I liked a lot of ideas this set focused on, like green not sucking a lot and blue getting back some of it's old strengths, as well as the focus on a good limited environment)
-Champions of Kamigawa (it added quite a few good rares honestly, and though limited kind of sucked, the rares created a standard filled with strong control decks that weren't based on counters, which is something I miss)
-Fifth Dawn (it looked weak compared to the rest of the block, but it had a lot of cool stuff, and Sunburst can be powerful, thought not broken like Affinity)
-Darksteel (ok, omit the broken cards, and you'll see the Modular was an extremely well designed mechanic, and the indestructible cards were interesting to me, as well as stuff like element swords, Panoptic Mirror, and Pulses)
-Onslaught (I hated blue in the set, but again, any control deck that doesn't need counters is great to me, and I liked tribes. Plus Cycling is a great mechanic)
Bad:
-Planar Chaos (it's surprising to me how this set was bad in every way but how it contributed to constructed: the cards were very boring and not really innovative at all, but only good since they were string cards)
-Ravnica Block (I hated what it did to inflate standard/extended, I hated how weak many of the multicolor cards were, I hate seeing gold now that it's been shoved in my face, and the limited was way too stretched for me, forcing 3-4 colors meaning you have to draft mana fixers, and it's just slow and a lot of times not based on card quality like how there were so many splashable great limited cards in TS block)
-Saviors (wisdom mechanic was bad, the cards were bad, the limited was bad, it was BAD)
-Betrayers (it had a few good cards and even Jitte, but overall it was too weak and not memorable at all)
-Mirrodin (equipment was great, the white equipment/weenie deck was fun, and the rest of the set was horrible and filled with abysmal golems/myr and overpowered affinity)
-Scourge (it was too slow, sadly, since the whole idea of the set was "bigger is better" when it just meant this set had tons of cards that were unplayable)
-Legions (right now, a creatures-only set could be doable, thanks to Channel, Evoke, and Flash making it feel less clunky, but Legions was just awful since it didn't have "creature spells" that weren't morphs, and morphs are good but too slow and too weak a foundation to balance a weakness in a set as big as having no noncreatures on)
Good to see that no one complained about Time Spiral, Future Sight, and Ravnica though, you know why? Cuz they were good sets. Not junk like Lorwyn.
FS=Pile of random junk with a shiny Tarmogoyf and a considerably-blingy Korlash in the middle of it.
TSP=What this tells me is that you're only complaining so much about Lorwyn because you like control over aggro.
RAV=Look at what I just wrote above.
No aggro deck has ever won Worlds. I think it's about time aggro gets a chance to do something. Now, could all the control players stop whining over their recently-useless Remands and start acting rational?
