Damn, I have to learn to stop using the quick edit.
...Oh , that's right. Grave Peril would keep triggering off any new non-black creature coming into play until one of its abilities actually resolved. It would work exactly as you have described -- if the opponent is dumb enough to put a non-black creature into play.
to be honest rule of law+spell burst isnt that hard to lock

Those guys talking about trying to work around Grave Peril, can't be done. It will be sacrificed as soon as the wumpus hits play, so it doesn't matter how you stack the abilities because it won't be there after it triggers.

How about playing the control game until doubling cube and upwelling are on the table and then using fat fat dudes/demonfire/chimeric staff etc. Seems good to me. Might as well play lotsa (i.e. G/U/r) colors until Rav rotates. I suppose there's always joiner adept too.
Wumps and Peril do work, you just have to stack the abilities and hope they drop a non-Black creature. It's not a bombo, just so bad and conditional as to be close to one.
And don't call Rule of Law+Spell Burst a hard lock if you start adding more cards to the lock, duh. And don't call it a hard lock with the Grip around (unless, again, you start adding stuff like Morph).
People like to throw hard lock around like strictly better, without understanding what it really means.

Hey, you. Yes, you reading this sig. Get off your computer, go find a copy of Skies of Arcadia: Legends and play it. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
Sure it's probably purely casual but add in some burn/removal and it could maybe do something. Play it like an aggro/combo deck, swinging in, saccing Rest postcomabt main phase and playing out your hand (since everything is like 2 CMC or less) ready to swing again/sac during upkeep. I guess mass removal kinda hoses you but it mainly makes you have to sac Rest prematurely. You could splash a 3rd for other stuff I guess, too bad there's no good enchantment recursion in White or anything.
Dryad is a 5/5, vanish. becomes a 6/6, vanishes, draw 6, he comes back, discard 1. great play in response to spot removal. ugh, I think I just made something sick.
That is quite amazing. I'm surprised to see such a decent combo -- typically these threads don't churn out anything worthwhile.

Yeah, the Vanish Into Memory one is still rattling about my brain. I really hope to see someone - even if it isn't me - play that card in a useful way before it rotates out in a year or so.
Silversmith will make artifact creature tokens. Sac them for Arcum Dagsson to bring out any non-creature artifact you want. March will bring them to life with a P/T equal to their manacost. Akroma's Memorial would be a 7/7 with all of her abilities.
Righteousness + Vanish Into Memory = An in color way to attempt drawing lots of cards, either off your own blocker, or off of theirs before combat damage, maybe they’ll kill their own creature to prevent it, (heck, now that I think about it, Pongify and Vanish Into Memory would make a pretty nice 2 card combo as well, even though it doesn‘t include any 10th).
Steel Golem + Sculpting Steel = A negation of the Steel Golem’s drawback, albeit not that great when you already have the Phyrexian Ironfoot in the format, which is almost superior, and may just be since it has snow synergy.
Femeref Archers + Fallen Ideal = Greenblack removal on creatures with low toughness, (they can still sacrifice creatures to prevent it, but will hopefully run out before this becomes an issue, or maybe just not using this combo when they have more than 2 creatures is good.)

hitting it on yourself?!?!?!
woha...thats nuts...
now we jest need to find an "i win" combo for mono-black (you can even play the rats if you really want to!)
anyway...
putting a vampiric link on a sleeper agent rocks..."at the begining of each upkeep he losses 2 life and you gain 2 life..."
The bigger fact is that it negates him hitting you.

An old school combo.
Arcanum Wings on the opponent's creature then swap for Persuasion. Same cost as playing it, but you can get it out by turn 3 or flash it out faster.
Sliversmith + Arcum Dagsson + March of the Machines
Silversmith will make artifact creature tokens. Sac them for Arcum Dagsson to bring out any non-creature artifact you want. March will bring them to life with a P/T equal to their manacost. Akroma's Memorial would be a 7/7 with all of her abilities.
Squee, Goblin Nabob + Magus of the Bazaar = Negation of the Magus’s drawback.
Treasure Hunter + Voyager Staff = Creates a strange version of “Blinking Spirit” that requires 2 cards, but one less mana.
Ambassador Laquatus, Millstone, Traumatize, or Dreamborn Muse + Nihilith = A quicker way to your 4/4 fear beats.
Cephalid Constable + Whispersilk Cloak or Crafty Pathmage = Bounce one thing per turn, more if it’s fatter before Cloaked or after Pathmage activation.
Steel Golem + Sculpting Steel = A negation of the Steel Golem’s drawback, albeit not that great when you already have the Phyrexian Ironfoot in the format, which is almost superior, and may just be since it has snow synergy.
Horshoe Crab + Ocular Halo = Draw power.
Hurkyl’s Recall + Mishra, Artificer Prodigy with cheap artifacts = Play copies free from your library.
Arcanis the Omnipotent and Goryo’s Vengeance during your opponent’s endstep = Draw 6 cards, and maybe return Arcanis to hand to discard again.
Rootwater Matriarch + Detainment Spell = Gain control of target creature.
Sunken Hope or Vedalken Mastermind and Venser, Shaper Savant, Riftwing Cloudskate, or Mystic Snake = Comes-into-play trigger Abuse
No Rest for the Wicked + Damnation = Ability to overextend into your own Damnation.
Puppeteer + Royal Assasin = Destroy Target creature
Squee, Goblin Nabob + Null Profusion = Outside of Graveyard Removal, you will always have a minimum of 2 cards that you can play in a R/B deck.
Threaten + Pongify = Destroy their blocker, then attack them for an extra 3.
Abundance + Sindbad or Fa’adiyah Seer = Always draw a card from these
creatures.
Ancestor’s Chosen + Momentary Blink = Gain life = to 3 times the amount of cards in your graveyard.
Doomed Necromancer or Adarkar Valkyrie + Reya Dawnbringer = Recurring Creatures.
Femeref Archers + Fallen Ideal = Greenblack removal on creatures with low toughness, (they can still sacrifice creatures to prevent it, but will hopefully run out before this becomes an issue, or maybe just not using this combo when they have more than 2 creatures is good.)
Stampeding Wildebeests + Civic Wayfinder or Citanul Woodreaders = Card advantage post Ravnica. (Wood Elves, thou art missed.)
Citanul Flute + Ornithopter or Llanowar Sentinel = Free blockers from the library, or a create-an-army from the library.
Phyrexian Vault + Verdant Force; Verdant Embrace; Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder; Empty the Warrens, Benalish Commander or Sengir Autocrat = Card drawing power for Green, Black, Red, or White.
Hunted Wumpus + Pongify = As long as their creature can be targeted, it will end up smaller and more useless than your newly played guy.
