Don't get me wrong, 10th is shaping up as an awesome core set. In terms of card quality, it probably is one of the top core sets ever.
Its just that, as a milestone core set, I was expecting something REALLY out of the ordinary, something BIG. Maybe Time Spiral Block spoiled me...with so much craziness and innovation flying around, your standards for going WOW are pretty much raised I guess. WOTC has made me a thrill-junky. Shame on you Wizards
So, still having mixed feelings about tenth...but I'm sure I'll end up loving it eventually.
im pretty sure that fetchlands will come in Lorwyn block if not the block aftewards
they better or else their extended format will be totally boring and pointless
otherwise me and lots of other people whove avidly played the format for a long time are gunna get pissed
Why do they need to reprint cards to keep them legal in a particular format? They have rotations so that the format changes. If the keep reprinting the same cards all of the time rotations become meaningless. After the 2008 extended portion 75% of the cards are going to be eternal formats only. That isn't a bad thing though and will probably give more popularity to legacy as people will want a format where they can play all of their favorite cards.

People are products of their own ingenuity; they are who they choose to be.
I am personaly excited for Squee comming back, in this enviroment there are infinite ways to abuse him. Also look for Reya Dawnbringer as a re-animator target.
The $$$ is still in the classics. birds, wrath, painlands, but troll might come back in a big way.
and um.....what the hell were they thinking putting Warp world in a set designed for beginers????[/S]

Yeah WW seems to be a REALLY bad call to me, but Squee on the other hand has a nice little combo within 10th. Can anyone say MASTICORE!
As for the fetches I would love to see a set of 10. Classic online would go nuts! As for what lands to print in core I personally believe that the duals (Rav not Alpha) are about the most appropriate lands that could be around. Though it will be nice to get a full BB set of 10th pains, though I just might have to stick with Apoc on half =D
I personally have found tenth to be the most excited I've been about a core set since I started playing the game competitively. I started playing awhile before 7th came out and since then have paid little attention to any of the core sets before release. Yes 8th had hippie and the Ape, but 10th has me coming back daily to see the new additions and changes.
For me the change to black borders was huge as I've always hated white borders. Alternate foils are cool and the idea for tokens in boosters is awesome. Even though the average competitive player like us wont like the tip/trick cards I have some friends who play casually that will love them.
As far as individual cards that have me going WOW, I would say that Mobilization was a big one, Incinerate, Mogg Fanatic, Hidden horror might be cool, Troll and Spiketail of course will see play, and Abundance will be fun to mess around with. Also if siege-gang and braids end up getting the print those will be bombs IMHO.
Finally we are of course all sad to see certain cards go (persecute, rewind, etc), but I think its too early to judge if a certain color is getting depowered. There are still plenty of cards, especially rares to go, and many aren't 100% confirmed yet. I fully agree that wizards has a few tricks up its sleeves yet, and I for one am excited to see what they've got.

I think that 10th, in retrospect, will be judged by the fact that it brought concepts like Legends and Trample to the Core Set, not any individual cards. Which is fine and fair, because there really aren't any exciting individual cards(painlands, ***, BoP can hardly count, they're in virtually ever Core Set).
They must have a Secret that like noooooo Buddyyy Knows and will be a big <Gasp> when it comes out. THat is what I think.
Like maybe Stasis... Seriously that would be awesome. I never liked Rare fetchlands why should I have to search for a land with a land? Why don't you search for a land with Ghost Quarter? Yeah you didnt see that one did you? Secrets are nice and all but there no fun if no one knows them.

Knowing a secret is never as fun as not knowing it. If you know why care? If you don't know though, that is what makes suspence and that is what we all crave. And why you hating on the fetchlands? They are dare I say: Better then duals....

read my sentence again. it says why should i search for a land with a land card.
Squee seems to be a quite popular card returning - I know it made me giggle a bit when I saw it. I'm glad that Birds of Paradise is returning, but not really excited. The Beacons will keep casual players happy, and other returning cards will make a few players glad, but all in all I doubt there will be a single 'Wow!' card of the set.
1. Quirion Dryad - It's amazing, will spawn it's own archetypes in standard, and i used to love it when it was around back in the days.
2. Twincast - WoW. That card is cool, simple, elegant and powerful. Simply good design.
3. Pithing Needle - Do i have to state why? It's cheap powerful disruption that can be played in about every deck.
4. Squee, Goblin Nabob - I really didn't think they'd bring THIS into coreset.. Im happy that they did though.
5. Goblin Lore - I absolutely love this card, and in standard it might actually be playable.

10 painlands, Wrath of God, Birds of Paradise, Pithing Needle, Twincast, Squee, Goblin Nabob, Troll Ascetic, Siege-Gang Commander(if confirmed) and Platinum Angel. That's 17/18 WOW value rares.
And there are also a large amount of decent rares like Quirion Dryad, Rule of Law, Razormane Masticore, Hurricane, Abundance, the Legends, Root Maze, Hurkyl's Recall, Time Stop, Time Stretch, the Beacons, the Muses, Mobilization, Shivan Hellkite, Gravepact, Coat of Arms, Howling Mine, Traumatize, Persuasion, Evacuation, Story Circle, Paladin en-Vec, Glorious Anthem and a few others.
And that's only the rares and we still have more than 50 cards unspoiled.
When I saw the thread title I was like "World of Warcraft card in X? Huh?"
The wow card? Black bordered Wrath of God obv! I don't know why more salivating hasn't been made over this.
Well, black-bordered Wraths have been released with the Portal sets and they've been well received. This topic goes along the lines of "What reprint will we go WOW because we never thought it would be reprinted ever again because it rocked so much?" like Hypnotic Specter from 9th. Notice the past tense on the 'rocked', people who'd point out that hyppie doesn't rock so hard now.

According to Lotus Noir we can add Goblin Piledriver to that list again
Siege-gang and PILEDRIVER are definet wows to me. Piledriver siege-gang and mogg fanatic spells the return of goblins to standard. That alone is good enough and im saying WOW now. And I agree the set is solid, just not seeing alot of wows till more rescently.

Wasn't the Piledriver only devastating because of Goblin Warcheif and Skirk Prospector?

It also didn't make the format stagnant or anything like that even without the fetches theres a ton of mana fixing in Extended it will be fine.
I think thats why they didn't feel obligated to reprint fetch lands in 10th and why they might not feel obligated to reprint them in Lorwyn.
Feel free to bid on my cards here!
