It's not going to be that high. It's not nearly as good as White Akroma. It's better in Limited, but in Limited you couldn't pay $50 and be guaranteed one.
Seeing that the new Akroma it practically lost its "oumph!" beats with haste being replaced by either "cannot be countered, Morph and firebreathing" but seeing her like this makes you wonder how broken she can be.
(M:tG) It's a hobby which costs money. You can't play golf without the right clubs and a membership for the golf court, you can't play paintball with a cardboard armor and a sling, you can't go to the movies without paying for a ticket and you can't play Magic without owning the cards. Simple as that.
Too bad right now white removal is all over the place. Making her pro white actually matter sure they can wrath her away and burn can throw burn spells at her but black really has only 2 cards that deal with her easily that will for sure see some play putrefy/damnation.
The real Akroma is just as easy to deal with condemn/faith's fetters etc..
So its really a toss up the fact that she tottaly decimates blue mages is something though. Any pure blue deck will cry when she is casted.
this card is barely "akroma"...this is a display of how weak she could have been...haste was the biggest draw, morph allows her to be countered, pro white means she cant be blinked(how was that so awesome anyway?), pro white and blue dont really help her when most of the solid removal is red and black, (now this isnt to say they wont planeshift 60 removal spells into white and blue and green[ha!]) firebreathing is not usually something that makes a groundbreaking card...at LEAST she flies, might as well be a dragon...
the card will end up being handy as a 1 or 2 of in dragonstorm decks but only in sideboard against control(as stated), but thats only if they dont get ahold of the board before you can get 8 straight mana, not mana spells,to pump her out...eck
at the beginning the card is 6 bucks, and i bet there will be people flocking to nab them, but she will end up being the boring 3 dollar rare, and only 3 bucks because she's barely "akroma"...
Konfuzion is dead on here, though I wonder if the other poster is right about being able to Blink her into play flipped face-up. I think he is.
I think it will start off with an initial price of $16 to feed off of the n00bs who freak out over "AKROMA!!!111" but then it will drop to $8 to feed off of the people who think she can be competitive. That won't pan out though, and then she'll drop to $5 for the people who think she's cool and a decent rare, but will finally settle at about $3, just like dragons do.. because they're dragons.

Getting the last word does not mean that you win the argument.
pro white means she cant be blinked(how was that so awesome anyway?)
Blinking her on turn 4 (presumably playing her morphed turn 3) gives you a nasty akroma on turn 4...that can't attack. No haste is the biggest detractor against the new akroma, but 'cant be countered' is the biggest draw.
I predict a solid $15 on pre-release and for a month, then down to $10. She's still an excellent finisher for mono-red (the best mono-red has? by far?) and they are pushing all the mono-colors so there will be a MRC (though it may not be good). She'll always be at least $10 because she's still Akroma, and an angel, and unique (mono-red angel), and she will win games.
Also, there have been huge discussions about removal on these forums. While White and Blue seem to be weaker than Red and Black from a protection standpoint, it isn't necessarily so.
Pro White means no Condemn, Pacifism, Temporal Isolation, or Fetters. Also, don't bother trying to block with any white fliers or fliers with white.
Pro Blue means no Snapback, Wipe Away, or Confiscate. Also don't try blocking with any blue fliers or fliers with blue.
Flier-wise, none of the new Dragons can block her and she can't fight her alternate-reality cousin either so she rules the skies.
Red can burn her out yes, but with what? Most standard-played burn is too small (only demonfire or a combination of 2 spells can do it).
The biggest trump against her is Black, with its many removal spells (as well as the every-creature trumps *** and Damnation).
Well original Akroma really has only held her value for one reason casual players. Before she entered the realm of T2 she still had a nice price point even though Extended hasn't used her in a long time.
If the meta dictates that W/U will become popular/powerful, Akroma, AoF will become deck worthy enough to rise to $10-12 but as of now I voted on the $8-10 thing because of her namesake.

For the mana involved you could be playing a Bogardan Hellkite, or better even, a dragonstorm.
This Akroma might start high but soon plummet. Whereas the original Akroma is still played in reanimator decks, this Akroma is too vulnerable to be used there and not fast enough to do damage.
The new Akroma is worth maybe 3 or 4, but it might take a while before she settles in that spot since a lot of people overestimate her.
Any deck playing red will have her in the sideboard at the very least. She`s a touch weaker than the original but only because of a lack of haste. She can deal more damage thanks to firebreathing and with Condemn [cardMortify[/card] and Faith`s Fetters being 3 of the most used and best targetted removal spells in standard at the moment she has alot of immunity, and against any MUC deck she just flat out wins.
i say lower then 6-8. Not that good at all in my opinion. She dosnt have the things that make the old akroma really good, protection from alo of removal spells. granted she dodges alot of them, this will prolly become a crap rare. red dosnt havea place for her...right now...

Im going to say stupid things in these forums so that maybe someday i will be mentioned on "The Magic Show" or in a UG Madness comic.... Please
stop saying she is such loser...
the fact she isn't as good as original akroma don't say she is bad!
she is rather scary in morph heavy decks...
I'd rate Morph heavy decks on the 1-2$ Scale...

Her Firebreathing ability is an ability that you won't fully utilize. No Mono-Red deck will play it. Even a Sneak Attack will choose Dragon Tyrant over it. If you try to go Seething Song to Akroma, people will simply counter your Song instead of the Akroma.
So you will have to play a R/x deck. And unless you have the $50 mana base, her firebreathing ability will be useless.
Reanimators won't use her, because of the lack of haste, vigilance and redundancy of can't be countered, firebreathing ability and morph. No haste means one extra turn for Wrath of God. No vigilance means attacking with this Akroma leaves you defenseless.
Will be a pricey card because its the 2nd incarnation of Akroma. Its ability isn't as spectacular as what Nei says it is.

When Guildpact was handed over from design, it also had seven gold rares per guild,... and that the seventh gold rare in each guild was less important to the set than the Nephilim. So each guild is down a rare in this set.
Gruul, Izzet and Orzhov. Officially screwed by WOTC.
While morph is definitivly a cool twist for flavor, she would be tons better if they had dropped the morph in favor of haste. That would have really made her seen perhaps even more play then the original.

Haste, and doublestrike. Bam! A one-shotting Dragon Tyrant all over the place. Too bad they nerded her up with morph. She kinda sucks... but hey for a casual deck she's fun.
Pro red doesn't mean crap frankly in current T2 in terms of removal for a 6/6 bod. What are you going to do... double Char her? Hellkite+Shock? However being susceptible to black sucks bad. Putrefy ruins her, and Sudden Death isn't too far behind.
I can guess (guess only) that Rakdos Aggro will make a comeback with her. Since U/B Dralnu is going to own the format (as it appears). Aside from that, she's a SB card.
I sincerely hope that people continue to underestimate the new and improved Akroma, since I think she will make a rather larger splash as anti-control tech for the RUW Control deck (whatever incarnation that may change to).
I personally play Blink Riders, so for me, this card is a definite chase rare. It fits perfectly into that build, and should allow Akroma to rule the skies and dominate the rest of the game....
I voted $8-10, but I could easily see it going higher at the pre-release, and much lower online.
whoa here. white akroma is most definitely $14-18...i have never seen it for less that 14 dollars anywhere. And this red one, honestly, is better. the only removal it hands down dies to in the format is dark withering, cradle to grave, premature burial, and putrefy. 1 of which showed up at champs and nationals. dragonstorm decks will have a field day with this, it will solve all of its bad matchups. see, this akroma can't be killed by the usual solutions to the other one, nor can it be killed by the red ones (other than shivan meteor) or the black ones despite dark banishing. It will be $25-30 at the prerelase.
I voted $8-$10 for the initial price mostly due to hype. I think that over time she will go down to below $5, probably $3. I hope I get one at the prerelease to trade off super quick!

I seriously dont see any deck that would play this at the moment.
I hope I am wrong but the lack of haste and that it dies to black and red removal really hamper this card.
I think after all the hype dies down it will just be another 8 drop timmy card.

You have the 4-5$ option missing. That is my choice.
