I mean, I hear it alot, and after seeing the Magemark cycle, I was wondering about the potential in building a Standard Aura/Enchantment Deck, after I picked up a playset of Dowsing Shaman and Moldervine Cloak at Prerelease.
I dunno, I'm looking at something like this, based on what I have in front of me.
If you're into the auras (and why not?) you should click the link in my sig to Princes of Pauper... it's the clan I'm in. Right now we're playing Ravnica Block Pauper, which is ONLY commons. Auras are kinda the big thing in that format... so you get to experiment with the cards in ways you don't normally. It's quite fun. You don't have to join to post or play with us on MWS... we're cool like that.
odd bit of off-topic advertising.
anyways someone had started a thread about a deck with genjus and the magemarks, because the genjus would gain the magemark benefits upon animateing because they are premade enchanted creatures.
The deck i submitted went something like this:
The whole point is to get out both magemarks, and then cause pain with the genjus. With both magemarks and a single earth surge, genju of the cedars becomes a 8/8 first-striker that gets +1/+1 whenever a creature blocks, and the genju of the spires becomes a 10/5 first-striker that gets +1/+1 whenever a creature blocks... The Warplow is there for trample, but i suppose the ability to become a 4/4 at will would be nice...
i suppose that deck would be interesting for casual, maybe one popular rouge deck if land destruction isn't too popular, but i don't think it is too worthy for competition... i would like someone to prove me wrong on that idea though... would be nice.
Actually, I thought the topic was things anyone has done with the enchantment subtheme. And, unless I'm mistaken, my post was describing something that I have done with the enchantment subtheme.
I hope I have not offended anyone by answering the question posted in the subject line of this thread.
I thought about something like, casting Three Dreams and fetching three magemarks, the cast to some weenies or something... It could be fun for casual atleast since they get pretty nice bonuses from the marks.
The only problem is Three Dreams is white and white has the worst magemark. You really wanna play only the black, blue and red.
There was a deck talked about a bit ago on Brainburst that used three dreams to fetch like Confiscate, Dream Leash, faith's fetters to play havoc with your opponent's stuff. It also ran Auratouched Mage + Followed Footsteps/Flickerform, which would then go find stuff like Flight of Fancy, Moldervine Cloak, Pollenbright Wings, Fists of Ironwood, Galvanic arc, etc to kill them with a self-flickering card advantage monster.

Yes, but that logic applies to almost every small creature ever printed that is game breaking. Also if they shock your enchantress, They aren't shocking your kill creature.

the major problem i see with your deck is that its trying to break dousing shamen with the only enchant-auras in the deck are one's that dredge and thus recur themselves...so they seem kinda pointless. i've built an ext deck online that runs off of enchant auras the deck looks something like this:
not the greatest deck in the world but a flipped kitsune sage works wonders with bramble elemental and flickerform with the bramble can be just plain dumb.
as for useing the aura theme in type 2...why don't you try the warp world deck? galvanic arc and fists of ironwood are both very good in it as the both give you a larger permanent count than your opponent...and they are extra good if you play bramble elemental in the deck as opposed to the janky hunted crits that i keep seeing people put in there decklists for warpworld.

Thats a really good idea, but I have some suggestions:
1) Whenever I make a deck, I try to keep all my cards under cmc 4. As long as I have mana fixing/mana accel, I can make the deck work with only 20 lands. I think this deck would be fine if you shaved off a couple of lands. Also, maybe switch out a couple basic lands for duals.
2) I know Vineslasher Kudsu has a lot of potential to grow big, but I think the deck would be better with Kird Ape just because it can start beating much earlier in the game.

GENERATION 3.78: The first time you see this, add it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation
I'll say something new and never heard before. Auras have the inherent problem of giving 2 for 1 advantage to your opponent. Suppose you have a creature with some sort of Magemark on it. Putrefy will handle both. Genjus can be powerful but Boomerang can be brutal on a genjued land.

Fortunately, some Enchantments try to make up for this problem by 2 for 1'ing your opponent first. Like with that cycle of enchantments from Ravnica with the CIP abilities. Also, I think theres some Auras from Urza's Block(?) that do things when they are sent to the graveyard.

This is perhaps the only way an aura will have the potential for tournament play, unless it somehow protects itself and/or the creature it enchants from removal (indestructible auras, anyone? Hah). If the aura makes up for this disadvantage in some way, like the comes into play abilities, then it overcomes its main weakness. I personally do not like either auras or global enchantments, and don't play then as a general principle. There is potential for decent auras if they get around the two for one, but equipment has in general made auras obsolete, no matter how hard they try to push them. I like equipment better, anyway.

The best I came up with was UW Control running Three Dreams to fetch Annex, Confiscate, Dream Leash, Faith's Fetters, or Genju of the Fields. I can come up with a list if anyone is interested...
Still curious to me why they would put in this [enchant creature / Aura] subtheme if they knowingly put in more creature removal/hate than that in a long time... Maybe not THAT long...but you catch my drift.
Anyway, unless you're an aggro/weenie deck, your creatures will not be out long enough to do much. I generally get about one ping in with Gelectrode before it dies some horrible anti-climatic death, which could just be me of course, but I do observe my meta and large friend circle. These decks are either packed chock full of Putrefy and Mortify plus 20 other spot removal or Faith's Fetters , Pillory of the Sleepless , and a million other stalls.
That is why a Cloak on a Silhana Ledgewalker is such tech. That, plus Promise of Bunrei. Throw in some Faith's Fetters, Pillories, and Tallowisp, Lantern Kami, and Kami of Ancient Law and you've got yourself a really cool metagamed deck that loses only to Combo!
I might make room for the Ledgewalker as an early drop in my deck. It is so slow sometimes that pushing through damage early on or forcing them on the defensive might help me out.

How? The fists don't come into play again (unless I don't know the rules as well as I think I do). I get that flickerform allows you to flick enchantments into and out of play, but how exactly does the mystic help you?

I mean, there isn't much strategy to it. I'm not even sure what're considered decent Auras in t2. Maybe I should ditch the idea and build the Zoo?
