I took some time to download a complete Gatherer cardlist in Oracle mode, and I did text comparation to the old cardlist.
More cleanings:
Seems like lots of "may" got replaced by "can", For example "may block only creatures with flying" "may block an additional creature" and so on.
There is no longer any "as though it was in your hand" attached to effects that allow you to play a card from nonstandard zone. It just says "you may play that card."
Auras with nonstandard types:
Aggression, Consuming Ferocity - Enchant non-Wall creature
Armor of Thorns - Enchant nonblack creature
Betrayal - Enchant creature an opponent controls
Bloodfire Infusion, Coalition Flag, Cocoon, Dizzying Gaze, Fire Whip, Nature's Chosen, Veteran's Voice - Enchant creature you control
Coral Net - Enchant green or white creature

Earthlore, Forbidden Lore, Hot Springs, Mystic Might, Tourach's Gate - Enchant land you control
Krovikan Plague: Enchant non-wall creature you control
Mind Harness: Enchant red or green creature
Relic Bind: Enchant artifact an opponent controls
Roots: Enchant creature without flying
Teferi's Curse - Enchant artifact or creature
Threads of Disloyalty - Enchant creature with converted mana cost 2 or less
Uncontrolled Infestation - Enchant nonbasic land
(and Spreading Algae now has Enchant Swamp, just like Genju of the Fens)

New Licid wordings!
Calming Licid
2W
Creature — Licid
2/2
W, T: Calming Licid loses this ability and becomes an Aura enchantment with enchant creature. Attach it to target creature. You may pay W to end this effect.
Enchanted creature can’t attack.
Note that there are functional changes (for example, if I give Licid a protection, and then change it into enchantment, the protection will be retained. Previously, Licids lost all abilities when they transformed.)
Here are cards with functional changes (all Aura-related):
Academy Researchere, Bartel Runeaxe, Devout Harpist, "Hakim, Loreweaver", Nomad Myhtmaker, Tetsuo Umezawa: "enchant creature" is replaced by "Aura"
Piety Charm destroys "Aura attached to a creature" instead of "enchant creature". Likewise for Seedling Charm. Similarly, Pyramids and Savaen Elves destroy "Aura attached to a land"
Rabid Wombat gets +2/+2 for each Aura attached to it, which actually makes it better
Enchant creature is only mentioned directly (as "Aura card with enchant creature) on Rootwater Shaman and Tallowisp. Note that they no longer work with cards like Aggression or Fire Whip (or do they? Does "enchant creature you control" count as "enchant creature"?).
So, what, are they basically replacing the creature type "Soldier" with "Warrior" now?
I think "Soldier" goes to the more civilized races, like humans. Goblins and stuff get "warrior"

Soldiers are part of an army, doing the whole marching thing. Goblins and seperpents don't really dig that so they prefer to be called Warriors.
An odd change for me is Venerable Monk. I just thought human cleric but they even made him a Monk (just cause its in his name doesn't mean anything, he could be gregorian)

I don't think civilization has anything to do with it. For all intents and purposes, the Elves are one of the most advanced races there is but there are no elven "soldiers."
i think soldier is more of a white creature type, non-white creatures get warrior...
Mostly white, yes.
But theres Sandstone Warrior (?)...a red soldier. That's odd though, its called Sandstone Warrior but its not a warrior!

Thanks for the info. Does anybody know if the other lords(the ones not in 9th like lord of atlantis) have had their creature types fixed? or is it only elvish champion/goblin king?
They had a Card of the Day (or Ask Wizards, I don't recall which) where they said they would only change creature types for reprinted cards. So, no Lord of Atlantis is not updated. Oh well.
Lemme rephrase what i said/meant (using my DnD knowledge)
A soldier is a humaniod(or thing) trained in combat. They can be apllied in masses or indivdually. As soldiers get stronger they can apply more advanced tactics and learn many new things.
A Warrior is a creature that simply picks up the weapons and begins to weild them. They can be applied the same way. A warrior doesn't gain much as much through expierence and normally stays the same strength because it is naturually that strong.

I find it interesting that they reserve "Classes" for the more "Social" Races. The "Solitary" Races (such as Giants, Pegasi, Apes, Elephants, and Wurms) don't have any class attached to them as most are mythical creatures that can survive on their own. The "Avatar" Races (such as Angels, Vampires, Elementals, Dragons, and Demons) are scions of certain ideologies and don't really need classes either.
So, the "Social" Races in Ninth are...
White - Humans, Birds (Aven), and Cats (Leonin)
Blue - Humans, and Birds (Aven)
Black - Humans, Snakes?, and Zombies? (Even though this is more of a state of undeath)
Red - Humans, Minotaurs, Goblins
Green - Humans, and Elves
And the Classes in Ninth are...
White - Soldier, Rebel, Cleric, Knight, Monk, Nomad
Blue - Wizard, Soldier
Black - Mercenary, Assassin, Warrior, Lord
Red - Shaman, Wizard, Barbarian, Warrior, Lord, Scout, Beserker, Soldier
Green - Shaman, Beserker, Warrior, Lord, Druid, Scout, Monk
The old Licid wording someone was asking about is:
Calming Licid
2W
Creature — Licid
2/2
W, T: Calming Licid loses all abilities, becomes an enchant creature enchanting target creature, and gains “Enchanted creature can’t attack” and “W: End the effect that created this ability.”
Someone complained that the new nonstandard Auras take away choices, but that isn't actually true: Those cards were always limited in what they can enchant. If you mean that they won't work with some cards after the change, that's true, but it's only two cards in whole Magic (Rootwater Shaman and Tallowisp)

is it just me or does the exodus art for anarchist not fit the flavour text for it's odyssey counterpart? the 9th art (exodus) certainly doesn't look like someone who is "doomed to lead". Just a nitpick though...:(
Oh and on the "enchant creature with defender" issue, a creature with defender need not be a wall, but a wall certainly would look strange spreading a "plague", no?
Note that they no longer work with cards like Aggression or Fire Whip (or do they? Does "enchant creature you control" count as "enchant creature"?).
I'm not sure this will be true. Pure speculation, but I bet Wizards will have some rule such that "Enchant creature blah blah blah" will also count as "Enchant creature."

Yeah. As part of Wizards' consolidation of creature types, they're making them more color-aligned. For the most part, only white gets soldiers, while warriors are the matching class for other colors. Similarly, only blue gets "Wizard" now, while red and green get "Shaman" and black and white get "Cleric."
Quote from Shadowlord »
It takes away choices especially in multiplayer games and that isn't good...
How so? Functionally, it's pretty much identical to what it used to be, except for the stuff detailed by Marek14, which on the whole makes cards more powerful.

I remember it being said on magicthegathering.com that black could have either wizards or shamans, as well as clerics, depending on the flavor of the setting.
Animate Dead, Dance of the Dead, and Necromancy have been global enchantments with that weird "When ~this~ comes into play, if it's in play..." clause long before 9th. All that changed in 9th was the standard "enchant creature" to "Aura with enchant creature".
Aura for a card in a graveyard wouldn't work because the card would be brought into play and at that point it would be enchanting an illegal permanent for its description.
Soo... I don't get it. Is "Enchant Creature" an ability now? If so, does a card still have said ability when it's not in play? I'm completely lost, maybe I'll wait for the official rules.

Yes, "enchant creature" is now a keyword ability. As is "enchant land," "enchant creature you control," and as would be "enchant card named Rabid Wombat." Oh, and the comprehensive rules with the 9th edition stuff have been released (download them here); the stuff about Auras is in sections 212.4d through 212.4i.
Flight: I'm just happy to make it to being an aura. Make sure to check in “Latest Developments” this week where a special guest author will tell you everything you wanted to know about auras but were afraid to ask.
Originally everyone stated that 9th Edition would only go back and add creature types to reprinted artifact creatures, but I was looking at mirage stuff, and those have creature types too.

A Warrior is a fighter used to small-scale battles and one-on-one fights, not so big on tactics but very fierce.
A Warrior should always defeat a Soldier.
A hundred Soldiers should always defeat a hundred Warriors.
I'm not sure how well WotC followed that, but that's the difference.
