The blue and black members of the monocolor acorn partner cycle care about rules text and that box in the lower right of the card. Wonder what the green one would look at.
The merfolks' design of this set are amazing. But it still don't get the need to make these absurd mechanics constructed legal

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
I get the cycle thing, having one out of four be eternal feels weird. But why would they promise that the partners would all be acorn? Does that mean they're retiring partner in black border?

Every time they print a new playable partner, all the others get better, so they need to be cautious about how many they print. Currently, there are 1449 non-partner legendary creatures, 13 "partner with" pairs, 21 possible "friends forever" pairings and 18 other cards that can be your commander. There are 1431 possible combinations of the existing 54 partners. 2 more partners and there will be 1540 possible partner combinations, which would make more than half of the possible commanders partner pairings.
I don't think it's a good idea to make it an acorn card for cycle or powerlevel reasons. The whole idea of black-bordered un-cards was that people were playing with the playable un-cards in highly casual settings anyway, so this is going to be the same problem with Fluros again. There will be some playgroups that specifically allow Fluros while others will stick to the acorn ruling. Two steps forward, one step back.
Honestly this could've been fixed so easily if instead of looking at power/toughness and loyalty, Fluros would have looked at the whole card, including mana cost, text box, card number and artwork. Then there would have been a justification for it being an acorn card.

These being acorn cards they are not constructed legal, but I agree somewhat when it comes to stickers.
Apparently they promised not to make any eternal partner cards.
also for cycle reasons
But yea I was confused myself at first I definitely know a effect like that is eternal possible and R&D would let that through
