Looks like Elite Spellbinder's been working out to help fight against the Phyrexians. He can keep taxing cards while they're on the battlefield now.
Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)
STOP using "dude/bro" as a pejorative or insult. Grow up.
Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
Elite Spellbinder saw plenty of play and this guy is beefier (albeit minus flying) and can still put the brakes on a planeswalker that managed to slip by. I think we'll see him around in the new Standard.
Naming a fetchland could really complicate your opponent's game.
That's a nice trick, probably more for Commander than Modern since this guy costs 3 mana so the fetchland hosing may not be as good when you're on the draw, but Modern Humans may still have room for him because it can make planeswalkers real clunky with the taxing effect.

Difference is, Elite Spellbinder taxes the card quasi perpetually. This guy's tax ends if the opponent removes it.

Yep, I forgot about that part, Spellbinder is probably more powerful in the long run despite not being able to tax permanents, still, this guy dodges 1-mana removal such as Play with Fire or the new "Push" and can hold the fort against weenies, I still think it will see play in Standard, maybe in an Azorius shell since Boros really takes a hit by losing the counter girl and not getting its painland back.
