EDIT: Same outfit, same hair, same staff. It's not the clearest, because Nissa's hair isn't usually that dark or in a braid, but for Kaladesh specifically, that's the art.
- Stone Wall 1969
- Two otters circling each other
- Some quite earthly books including "Sappho" and "Paris is Burning"
- Obvious Pride Flag
I'm not into the iconography at all, LGBTQ people will likely discover way way more (Lambda? the infinity symbol made out of the male and female symbols? four Aces? The battle axe pendant?)
Yeah, that's Chandra and Nissa in the Kaladeshi equivalent of a Pride parade.
Ah so she is there, but way in the backdrop. That's awesome. I'm glad they're "retconning" their relationship after that storyline kerfuffle. Those things beside Chandra are probably Aetherborn as someone else had alluded to earlier.

The very first gay cheese cake card, Veteran Bodyguard.
I had not noticed those before. The card just became +2 bear for me.
Also, shut up anyone who claims the dudes in the background are just like Chandra & Lili...
Speaking of our fiery PW, that's her on Collective Voyage, right?
Seeing the high res, I now realize that the guy lying down in the back is wearing long pants and not a thong. And now I'm wondering if it's the guys on the left people are complaining about? In which case, seriously?
WotC: "We believe LGBTQ young people deserve a welcoming, loving world. And we wake up every day dedicated to making that a reality."
Also WotC: Blocks pages related to this product even in countries where gay marriage is legal and/or LGBTQ topics are not subject to heavy regulation like China/Russia
"But in this case rainbow capitalism is fine because 50% of the profits go to charity!"
Just donate 100% of what you would've spent on this to the charity then. You like the art? You can look at it online for free. You don't need it printed on a small piece of cardboard.
this would have been a more entertaining wedding to watch than Crimson Vow, even if just looking for Kaya, Teyo, Teysa, Mizzix, and pretending one of those doves is Lazav

Embrace the dark you call a home,
Gaze upon an empty, white throne
A legacy of lies,
A familiar disguise
Sing with me a song of conquest and fate
The black pillar cracks beneath its weight
Night breaks through the day, hard as a stone
Lost in thoughts all alone

This take is only the correct one within a broadly anticapitalist worldview. Nobody here applauding representation is defending WotC's profits from the use of lgbtq+ iconography and imagery.
If your stance is that the art is great but the game should not be driven by profit motives, I agree with you completely. Money is imaginary, and proxies are good actually. But if your stance comes from a place of discomfort (I'm not saying it is, but so many responses to this thread have been) then it strikes me as a progressive excuse for deeply conservative ideology. As long as capitalism is the norm, "rainbow capitalism" is absolutely permissible, and in some cases the best possible action from a harm reduction perspective.

I'd have to see the full-sized art, but the Lambda (Greek letter L) is an old gay symbol for liberation. Four aces is a symbol for asexuality, and the battle axe pendant is a labrys, an ancient Greek symbol that goes back at least to the Minoan period. It was adopted as a lesbian liberation symbol in the seventies. It's most famously seen on the Labrys Pride flag, a dark purple flag with a black equilateral triangle pointing down and a white axe. I really like that they featured gay iconography of the past alongside more current symbols and images, as the Lambda and Labrys seem to have fallen somewhat out of style in the past twenty years.
You've been spamming personal attacks against people for not liking a product done in poor taste, even if for a good cause.
What makes this in poor taste?
Considering your first reply to my initial post on this was "Small deck energy" you'll not take criticism in any variety, using a great charity to milk money from people for cards that aside from 2, are available for 2 dollars or less. You'd do better to just get a copy of whichever art done as a large poster print for display.
protect you from -checks notes- other people existing.
but seriously, the way you do it is the worst way possible to get a point in ANY conversation, even if we were talking about the most basic human rights. Please stop
oh oh oh oh hold on back up there a second did you say Point ? i·m sensing objectives , a game to all this .
There's more than one purpose for the product. It's a charity drive that also demonstrates in some capacity the company's attempts at representation and acceptance of the LGBTQIA+ community. Other people in this thread have already explained better than I could the pitfalls of it from an anti-capitalist viewpoint, but it's not just about money.
Likewise, purchasing the product would not be just about the money, unless you're a reseller. The ability to resell your cards with greater value later is a weird bonus to this card game, but the whole point is to play with and express yourself through them. And, ya know, seems like a good chunk of the Secret Lair cards are valued more than the base card anyways so them being "two bucks" in the normal market doesn't seem especially relevant as a point.
It's also just one of their like, 45 Secret Lair drops for the year. They'll have plenty of opportunities to milk money from people at full price, with absolutely no donations to any causes. I'd rather give them a begrudging appreciation for doing literally anything more than their usual amount of nothing. And unfortunately, the best way to demand more from a company is to show there's a market for it.
if it wasn·t Just About Money then Wizards would put the gay representation stories in the actual cards where players could actually see them instead of making it literally their most expensive product

And if it were just about money, they wouldn't be donating anything at all. I didn't say they couldn't be doing a hell of a lot more. We started here. Frustratingly slow as it is, this is progress.
There are multiple queer characters on cards. The thing is you need to be invested and read the story. Not every queer person can be identified by just a picture (or looks). Unfortunately the rule text on cards is getting bigger, too. Making it difficult to add long stories to cards. I think that the direction where wotc is heading is a good start.
The Planeswalker:
We have Chandra as pan. Niko as nonbinary. Ral as gay. Karn is most likely asexual being a sentient robot, Will could be bi (he seems to have feelings for Titus) but it was never confirmed, Ashiok is nonbinary for sure and maybe asexual, too? Nissa could be bi or gay.
other Characters:
Hallar, Alesha, Tomik, Kynaios and Tiro, Haktos, Halana and Alena, most of the Aetherborns including Yahenni and Gonti, Xantcha
- Stone Wall 1969
- Two otters circling each other
- Some quite earthly books including "Sappho" and "Paris is Burning"

Four Aces probably are for Asexuals (shortened to "Ace").
Also there is a Trangenders-flag on the opposite side to the Pride-flag and the eyes each comes in the color scheme of one of the many variants inspired e. g. Intersex, Bisexual, Non-Binary...

LOL yeah that's true.
Also don't forget the infamous Elvish Ranger (female depiction), Gift of the Woods (male depiction), or the wonderfully infamous Gwendlyn Di Corci. You want smut, there's your smut.
