i'm sorry if people take this the wrong way, but its time to let this artist go. this is barely an improvement over their rendition of faithless looting.
which sucks, because i want to build dina where this is pretty much a must include.
Yeah, I am guessing this is a trans person (man?) and I sorta dig that but the art doesn't really do it for me. Also, this is too expensive, mana value wise, for a Soul Warden/Essence Warden effect. I won't be playing this unless Cabrenna Limited is veeeeeeeeery slow.

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).

Funny enough, the "art deco" style showcase cards (which have been mostly god awful for art)is more this artists style it seems, unlucky for us they are giving her base set arts now. But art is subjective

Is it just me, or do the green designs in the backdrop on the top right kind of look like fancy coalition symbols? Or am I looking into things too much.

I like the art. It's pretty unique, fits with the style of New Capenna, seems more dynamic and visually interesting than her Harmonize (which I do think looks fine but unexciting) and is miles better than the living meme that is her Faithless Looting. Not my favorite Magic art or anything but just like her Faithless Looting it is eye-catching and does evokes a strong response out of me, except in this case said "response" isn't a mixture of bewildered amusement and disgust.
As for the card itself... meh. It's no Soul Warden, that's for sure.

Today, Gavin talks about the Cabaretti mechanic Alliance, and even mentions how long it took to finally make it to print.
Sheesh.
3 mana for a 3/2? I guess that makes up for it.

I support varying art styles in Magic, and I definitely support having artists with Carly Mazur's talent illustrating cards.
3 mana might be too much for this effect, however.
