Today's story continues, showing us catching up with Elspeth... and Elspeth catching up with a home she had long thought gone. Oh, and Ob Nixilis is here.
Oooh, this one is spicy. I would want to pay 3 mana for any of these effects.
They're all 2 mana effects, but overall still worth it I think. Instants, sorceries and creatures with mana value 3 or less covers most cards in most decks.
Well we will be waiting to see where the phyrexians that tortured Elspeth 30 ish years ago are... Probably they are working with Urabrask? Gonna be hard to explain to Elspeth that they are good guys.
Nobody knows the past, so either Elspeth's background is much older than we thought, or everyone's mind was wiped. Anyone remember an anime series called Big O?
And another thing -- where did these Phyrexians come from? Too late to be the originals, too early to be the New ones, so are we talking about another corruption from glistening oil someone introduced to Capenna?
So much better than maestros. Don't know why they hosed Maestros so much. Hopefully the guild leader is better.
the new grixis charm is never a dead card in hand, this one could be. Also is much more flexible obscura charm is very resctricted (instant or sorceries, 3 mana)
Well it might not even be one of the planes tainted by karn, old phyrexians had planar portal tech and had experiments + compleation going in other planes. Things presumably stopped working at the end of the invasion with Yawgmoth being destroyed, but if the oil kept working we can assume some other tech in other planes could be still operational.
Or maybe Ajani's information about new Capenna being Elspeth's home plane was wrong somehow, maybe disinformation, maybe Ob wanted her there and did some mind trick to Ajani, we may have to wait to see

I still think this is just Serra's Realm and we're gonna see some creative writing to get around how it got back out of that powerstone.
How is having impulse, lava coil, and syphon life stapled together on a card bad? It's literally never a dead card if you have the means to cast it.
Those stapled together are bad if the card costs too much. The extreme example is 6 mana for all 3 stapled together, but even 3 mana seems underwhelming to me.

Both of those were badly hurt by being sorcery speed. I actually run Commence the Endgame over Enter The God Eternals simply because of timing.
Exactly.
Instant-Speed is so crucial for cards that want to be played in a "control" deck, as tapping out is just punished too hard with todays snow-ball cards (especially planeswalkers).

Another is simply "some Planeswalker went to old Phyrexia and accidentally brought something back with them."
In Esper decks like that, this is just NASTY.

When are Magicfest events returning?
I want these signed
I used to be a demigod, but now I'm an omnimage

(Part of me is still rueing Enter the God-Eternals and Multiple Choice seeing basically no play in Constructed.)

Because paying three mana to draw one is always awful. And doming 3 damage for 3 mana is usually unplayable, except maybe in multiplayer.
I speculated on that a few months back.
