I feel fairly mixed about the Lurrus ban in Modern. On the one hand, I didn't find it(/her) oppressive, as it(/she) dies to most removal and people don't tend to run more than 1-2 ways to recur it(/her), so I can often restrict it(/her) to recurring exactly one card and then dying - often not enough CA to win.
On the other hand, man did Lurrus feel restricting when building new decks. It likely was a bad sign that my evaluation of a new card in Modern often went significantly down if maindecking it meant that Lurrus could not be that deck's Companion (e.g. 3-mana planeswalkers).
See ya' Lurrus!!! Glad to see you leave Pioneer. Sick of seeing that card, sick of it.
Pioneer could use a couple more bans as well, but this is a good start.

Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)
STOP using "dude/bro" as a pejorative or insult. Grow up.
Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
Lurrus was a real problem when combined with Kolaghan's Command. The card advantage engines using Mishra's Bauble and Urza's Saga with Lurrus were simply too consistent and too easy.
kinda disappointed I need to decided on what I'm gonna play at a few modern events coming up now that lurrus is banned. But I guess modern should be more open now

I suspect Modern will be precisely as open as just before the bans, except with no Lurrus.
Jund has a fair chance of switching back to or at least towards Big Jund with Bloodbraid Elf. Death's Shadow decks will probably switch back to using Street Wraith. Colossus Hammer Time already had a few no-Lurrus dissidents in their ranks pre-ban - all the Hammer Time pilots will obviously follow suit. Hardened Scales decks will go back to their no-Lurrus builds, which look pretty much the same except for the colour splash leans.
The viability of all the previously Lurrus decks will likely take at least a minor hit, though, with no convenient Companion available to dodge mana flood with. I have to admit that Grixis Death's Shadow with Lurrus was performing way too well in MTGO tournament results two weekends ago. But I do fear that the promising newfangled Oni-Cult Anvil decks will die entirely without Lurrus.
The only thing I don't like about this is that the foil extended-art Lurrus that I bought a while ago is going to plummet in value :P
Honestly, I'm glad that they did this. Even though I ran Lurrus in my Esper control deck, it was more of an option that was there rather than something that gave my deck significant percentage points. This just frees up another sideboard slot for me.
I would be upset with the Pauper bans, but I just can't bring myself to care about Pauper anymore. It just feels so neutered and bland now.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
Boy, they love hitting cards I keep thinking about for a deck that I can never quite figure out how to make well enough. No surprise though, Lurrus was a bit too strong, but that was obvious from the moment they spoiled it.

Interesting no movement in Historic.
