New set just came out. Time to move on and split the players' focus. Can't let the playerbase as a whole just have some time to sit and enjoy the new stuff without distracting them with future shiny stuff.
That's cool and unsurprising that goad will be evergreen - it's been seeing more and more use over the past five years. Disrupt Decorum led the way in 2017, and now there are 22 cards plus Kardur, who is technically better than goad as he affects even creatures who enter after your turn. It's a decent multi-player mechanic that doesn't make you OP - in fact, it gets quite bad when you're down to the last two players. And that comes from someone who loves the mechanic and has both a Marisi deck and a Kardur deck.
They recently talked on this, a lot of store have asked wizards for info on set earlier to help them plane events. This why a lot of what they show first is promo cards and/or flashy mythics that stores can use when promoting events.
For Kamigawa this why they showed off Kaito (the main character planeswalker and to show off the Japanese promo arts), the different promos for Hidetsugu, the basic lands and Atsushi, the Blazing Sky who was a game day promo and later for "Xmas" Satoru Umezawa who was the buy-a-box promo.

"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
its taken like 2 years, but with the release of kamigawa having happened like what... a week ago? i just have no interest in the never ending hype train any more.
as for goad, neat? its an uninteresting mechanic that brings a lot of politics to edh pods but not much else. i'm more concerned that they're going to print more cards with goad with commander exclusively in mind. a lot of what they specifically aim at commander ends up feeling really oppressive lately. its felt so overwhelming, the pressure to get these hot new commander oriented cards all the time, that its become a lot easier to step back and just... not buy anything.
Well they did appoint a new President with some spiffy stats in tech and gaming, so I think this is their way of saying, "OPEN UP YER WALLETS EVERYONE. SUPPER'S ABOUT TO BE SERVED NON STOP!"
But yeah I'm kinda cool to see this. I just want to see some aesthetics, a look into potential story direction, and maybe a look at the symbol. But other than that we can wait until mid-April to get more.

I would like for Monarch to appear more often as well. It really gives Red and White a flavorful way to get some card draw, while overall making games more interesting.
Actually, I was kinda hoping for the return of Prowess as an evergreen or perhaps Phasing but they were talking about evergreen for Commander. Goad...ehh...Ok sure why not.

I'm more or less excited about all of those. As I started in the early stages of MTG, the Dominaria United and The Brothers' War will strike a nostalgic note for me LF. Dominaria is, has been, and always will be MTG's "home" plane. I don't care what people say.

oh I have no doubt both dominaria sets will be amazing
heck it was that dominaria revisit that help the kamigawa revisit be most positively reviewed set to date.
I would like for Monarch to appear more often as well. It really gives Red and White a flavorful way to get some card draw, while overall making games more interesting.
100 Monarchs over Goad. Also, more votes. Goad is so boring (and extremely confusing mechanic also). Who even play goad cards at all?
I mean, I actually love Goad for the fact that it keeps games moving along while still giving all players at least SOME agency.

Goad's major upside over Monarch is it won't go and accidentally warp Pauper and/or Legacy or something.

I play a couple of the bigger splashier Goad cards in my fun decks, but that's about it.
It's a decent multi-player mechanic that doesn't make you OP - in fact, it gets quite bad when you're down to the last two players. And that comes from someone who loves the mechanic and has both a Marisi deck and a Kardur deck.
I deal with that issue by using the time my opponents are killing each other to amass and multiply an army of token creatures with my Marisi deck.

Every time I'm reminded of the Warhammer stuff I die a little inside for this game. At least I don't have to worry about buying Double Masters.
I'm sure I'm the only who is bothered by this, and I'm sure no one else here cares... but throwing caution to the wind, I'll ask anyways:
Once the "tomorrow" (mentioned in the title of this thread) passes, can the OP alter the title to no longer say "tomorrow," as each time I see it, I briefly get hyped thinking there's something new coming, then it hits me: this is old news.
Tomorrow came & went, the title can be changed to "Streets of New Capenna; new mechanic revealed." Trust me, it's not going to change the content or alter the conversation like my request is.
Abd yes, I know this is off topic, a moot point, and is banal. But what's the worst that can happen?
(hope those aren't my last words...)

Bloodthirsty Blade and the Impetus cycle show that "goaded" can be a condition granted by a static ability, so nohing stops them from making a Kardur-variant with goad now that it's evergreen.

I'm all for more monarch. Maintaining an Eternal format means being responsible to identify and ban/restrict problematic cards. You get complaints if there are not enough new playable cards for Legacy, you get complaints if they are having too much of an impact on Legacy. And that's not just Legacy. Modern, Pioneer etc.
There are too many formats that want to hold Magic's future hostage.

[thread=239793][Game] Level Up - Creature[/thread]
Its so limited in what it does and even then it doesnt really take something away from the opponent, they still get to attack someone else.
To make even more of them, well, thats pretty lame.
They don’t get to attack someone else, they have to attack someone else. If you Goad all of their creatures they have to attack with every creature, which frequently leads to two of your opponents wrecking their board states.
Goad is such a bad mechanic ...

You've clearly never played against a dedicated Goad deck. When 3 of the players are all attacking each other, the Goad player can basically sit back and let everyone kill each other, then clean up the last remaining opponent (who is depleted on life and creatures, due to all the attacking) with their built-up board state. It can be quite powerful.

Gavin is making offical that “Goad” is gonna become a evergreen mechanic for mostly commander related stuffs
(The non keyworded example is simply Kardur, Doomscourge)
