Wow, the first one looks amazing. It looks like "actual" artwork and not something from a game. It's kinda sad it'll be shrunk and put on a small card because that looks great!
Okay, even I ( a glitch artist and fan of most of the NEO art revealed so far) think that The Modern Age is going to be painfully out of place in a game of M:TG.
Love the art, but it's going to cause some disconnect.

Yeah I agree, I think this particular one is in the extreme end though compared to the other modern stuff we've seen. Most of the other modern stuff isn't nearly as "TRON" as this hehe. But the Sagas have all been fairly unique compared to the normal cards and have been before in older sets, so I get they look a little different.
I think it's going with the theme of different styles of artwork. We got a tile-work piece, we had carved wood on a sword, we had a huge classical oil work, we had art woven into a kimono and on a paper fan and embroidered on a silk tapestry, now here's the CG modern art.
edit: I missed the kirin saga being both artistic floral work and a beautiful sculpted vase.

Oh, I firmly expect this will be unique, and at the far end of the spectrum. I really appreciate that Wizards are taking risks with this set and I think overall it's good.
You are right about sagas all being very stylized so far and cards like Phyrexian Scriptures and The Mirari Conjecture looked fine in context so this probably will too.
But that Modern Age one. Wowza. I like seeing different takes of art and this is one of those that I can get behind. I bet the final chapter is each player gets up and dances as if they're in a rave. Each player who doesn't can't cast spells, attack, or gain life until the end of their next turn.
