Rem Karolus, Stalwart Slayer 1RW
Fyling, haste
If a spell would deal damage to you or another permanent you control, prevent that damage.
If a spell would deal damage to an opponent or a permanent an opponent controls, it deals that much damage plus 1 instead.

Like a smaller mini original Gisela working for spells only.
So... How exactly does this work? Let's use let's say the burn spell does 3 damage to all creatures and players. Will it prevent damage to me and my creatures, while still damaging my opponents & their creatures? Or because damagee to me & my creatures was prevented, all damage is then prevented?

I think that Anger of the Gods fails to dent your other guys, offs poor Rem, and dents the opposing creatures for 4 damage each.
Ah they finally got Innistrad legendary version of Van Helsing (notice the number of letters in his names). Not quiet what I'd imagine but a mini-Gisela call pack (as she was the angel who defended humanity by hunting killing monster) still fits in theme. Nifty that return sets kind build of the mechanical flavors of he past sets.

“There are no weak Jews. I am descended from those who wrestle angels and kill giants. We were chosen by God. You were chosen by a pathetic little man who can't seem to grow a full mustache"
"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
Might as well add "When this enters the battlefield, all Skyknight Legionnaires transform into green creatures named Envious Legionnaires until end of turn"

I think so too. Preventing the damage that a spell would deal to some victims doesn't necessarily impact the damage it deals to others. (Like if your opponent just cast healing salve to save their 3/3 from your earthquake, the earthquake would still hit everything else)
Too bad about the word "another" on Rem, so he's not immune to damage himself. Still, a powerful pushed card in (or against) a deck with damage spells. Is this worth a splash in monored burn decks? What about decks that already were splashing white for boros charm?
YES! Rem receives a card at last! He was among the characters I was hoping would have a card in the set, and here he is with an impressive effect, especially for Boros
Just missing Cosper Lowe now. I really hope Cosper Lowe has a card in Crimson Vow. Most likely he will, since a vampire is infatuated with him
It's a clear upgrade over Tajic, it can fit in Zoo decks, maybe Humans beyond Standard. Grim Lavamancer makes me lie a little bit, but overall Rem looks much more viable.

3 mana is a LOT LESS than 7,
so this is looking pretty good.
Hey, it's Rem Karolus, Slayer of [whatever Innistrad is infested with at the moment]. I could see him helping out in Jeskai control mirrors (if any), or just anything involving Boros and spellslinging. He could act as a little boost to Firesong and Sunspeaker decks in the 99.

I used to be a demigod, but now I'm an omnimage
How is this not a mythic??

There needs to be space in the mythics for amazing cards like Enduring Angel // Angelic Enforcer
This alt art looks like Sirius Black riding a Thestral with a crane’s head.
