wizards are you telling me liesa death was faked/avacyn lied on killing her?
now the card abilities Oh GREEEEEAT now we got another Shadowborn apostle commander to deal with and the flavor is alot better since she makes deals with demons
Damn, you can't see at the art but Rienne, Angel of Rebirth is crying herself to sleep at the corner... not that she needed much help for that tbh.
Also, if you open this in Limited, you're WB no questions asked and high-fiving the entire table.
Well I am interested to read how she is still alive. Even if she just pull out a trick she was absent for YEARS. I would like so see Sigardas reaction. Non of the sisters supported Avacyn on her crusade against her but Liesa didn't got any help either. Did she die but somehow got resurrected? I think demons in Innistrad get resurrected as different demons (but the same mana). Maybe it works similar for angels but over a longer time? Maybe we will see Bruna and Gisela in a return to return to return to... Innistrad again?
Current bet #1 for how the storyline is going to explain this is that the disrupted Dawnheart ritual at the Celestus will somehow resurrect Liesa instead of fuel the Celestus.
If it turns out that Avacyn lied about killing Liesa, I'm going to need an explanation for how Liesa didn't show up when the Helvault blew up, though.
...Maybe Liesa got imprisoned in the Moonsilver Key somehow? (Here I was, starting to theorize that Sorin used the Moonsilver Key when creating Avacyn instead...)
I dont like the undermining of established story at all
I dont like what she does at all
Im very, very, tired of b/w commanders that have zero pay off. Its just another do nothing incremental value engine in a color pair where just about every legendary creature is an incremental value engine. Like, how about some actual synergy with that recursion, or with sacrifices, or something. Shes boring as hell because we keep seeing this type of effect in these colors but none of them DO anything with it
I don't think Avacyn lied about destroying Liesa. Rather, Avacyn's death allowed Liesa to remanifest.
Note that I have no idea how long it usually takes for a natural, elemental-like angel (as opposed to an intentionally-crafted one like Avacyn) to remanifest. Otherwise, we'd expect to see Bruna and Gisela in short order (unless they need even longer to fix themselves up after Emrakul's influence warped them). But my hypothesis is that unlike the Ashmouth's demons, destroyed angels remanifest with at least most of their old psyche and memories, meaning that Avacyn had to constantly suppress Liesa's essence (not necessarily difficult, especially if Sorin was helping in some way; of the four "true" archangels, Liesa would probably have been in the best position to notice what Avacyn's "programming" was really doing for humanity, through noticing how the vampires were stabilizing rather than waning). No Avacyn, no suppression, Liesa begins to reassemble. (Maybe she's stuck in the Celestus, or something?)
Here is a card that could have been mythic and would have been years ago. "Meat(power) is back on the menu boys."

Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
How is this possible? She's dead.... and unaffected by Emrakul?
Or perhaps similar to Sigarda, Liesa's conviction of protecting the plane (even if she had to pact with demons) kept her from going insane, though there's still questions on how she survived Avacyn. Maybe she returned using the same method demons returned to life on Innistrad.
isn't it funny how liesa ability here is worded like a phyrexian praetor
*you get benefits*
*they get downfalls*
for this case you creatures comeback from the graveyard to your hand
the opponents lose them forever.
just got to super mega tin foil hat liesa is what the phyrexians are after in innistrad if we are to see a praetor here or crimson vow
Well I think her new card is more in line with Giselas original card Gisela, Blade of Goldnight. I find this fitting because both are the enemy colored sisters and one of the effect is white while the other one is from the other color. While Bruna, Light of Alabaster and Sigarda, Host of Herons had just one effect that fits both allied colors. I wouldn't make any conclusion to the phyrexians

This is my theory too. With the recent mass die-off of Avacyn and three entire flights of angels, it's not impossible that enough white (and black?) mana coalesced to reform an archangel that barely anyone on Innistrad remembers.

that’s pretty good and probably it
i have it’s something to do with the celestus/ the key for it. Also explains why sorin and sigarda are fighting.
or the tin foil crackpot theory …… the praetor that snuck into the plane resurrected her or release her from wherever the prison she was held at and need her for their plan's (liesa is worded identically to the praetors and liesa has inner evil since she has a obsession of making deals with demons)
Emrakul is still trapped in Innistrad's moon. She might have interfered with the day-night cycle, so she might have been able to bring Liesa back somehow.
When mana coalesces on Innistrad back into demons, it doesn't generate the exact same demon. This is literally Liesa herself. The only explanation I have is that she made a pact with demons to be revived, and once Avancyn was unmade, it became possible. But this is a major mystery.
I suppose she could have been in the Helvault but idk... Could the Celestus resurrect Innistrad's natural angels, and we see Bruna and Gisella in the next set?
Current hypothesis would be that due to her being partially made of black mana she would function similarly to an Innistrad Demon and be able to reform at some point. If true then it is possible that she did get hell vaulted or something similar.
Why she didn't reveal herself if she was in the helvault after its destruction would be easy to explain. Liesa had lost her flight, her sisters had chosen to side with Avacyn, and Avacyn had defeated her. Laying low and recuperating would have been the smart thing to do, more so when everyone starts getting a case of the tentacles.
With her being in the black part of the color chart Liesa would be a schemer and would not reveal that she was back until she knew it would be safe to do so. Or she could have played a part in the destruction of the Church of Avacyn via the Skirsdag cult.
