The upcoming Universes Beyond Secret Lair that was mentioned earlier in the week is a collaboration with Netflix.
Gavin Verhey also talks about the changes being done to UB Secret Lairs (in-universe reprints, etc). No mention of when it or the super drop goes on sale (Gavin makes mention of D&D in his video being a big part of Stranger Things, so probably soon to coincide with AFR).
I agree. That is a silly observation to make. People may roll their eyes at Secret Lair: Slivers while I turn cartwheels. They have been doing a decent job trying to create something for everyone, but you can’t please everyone. I embrace the Secret Lair series with open arms.
These cards will be part of future The list sets as well so you can get them from set packs, why would you buy the secret lair then? Also they said that they're directly for commander only.

You would buy this secret lair if you're a fan of the show and want Stranger Things art/characters on cards.

I mean, why buy any secret lairs?
And all the UB stuff is probably gonna be "for commander" or a standalone product - aiming them at vintage and legacy would be... a questionable decision.
Never watched Stranger Things, don't intend to any time soon, so I couldn't care about this outside of the eye rolling nature of UB, Secret Lairs, and both put together. I will say this, that art of that boy/girl/thing looks like it should be on a Goosebumps cover and not on a Magic card.

We'll see how "commander only" they'll be as time goes on. Eventually they'll screw up and put a Vintage/Legacy card that will break things.

Flusterstorm, shardless agent, and true name nemisis were also "for commander or a stand alone product" lol. And those are just the first 3 that come to mind.
Pretty much this. I really hate these "previews of the previews" in typical wotc style lately, where they're trying to hyping you with almost literally nothing to hype for. If you gonna make an announcement, just give us the goddamn cards already, or don't announce anything at all.

If you wanted the actual crossover versions of the cards
The list gives a mtg universe alternative of them which is clearly what most people will choose over obviously

To be fair, many loves to create custom-sets of any brand they love with MSE and wouldn't mind at all to play with a different ID, as long as it is something among things they love. Not everybody are "vorthosian flavor purists".

Not saying that there will never ever be any that are playable, just that they're not going to set "Let's make this good in Legacy" as the baseline for a product.

Her name is Eleven, she's played by Millie Bobbie Brown, the art is ripped straight from the show, and I'm fairly confident she prefers traditionally female pronouns (she/her).

The "boy/girl/thing" is not knowing the character nor the actor that plays them, which should have been clear when I said I have never watched it. Pulled from the show or not that art looks low quality. TWD art wasn't all that great either.
Been meaning to check out Stranger Things but never really got around to it. Think of it as The Goonies and E.T. The Extraterrestrial meets R.L. Stine's Goosebumps? It's definitely got that 80's pop culture aesthetic to it similar to the Family TV Sitcom The Goldbergs. I just find it very odd how much Ghostbusters: Afterlife seems to be ripping off of Stranger Things.
The only thing saving them from a lawsuit is the nostalgic references to the original Ghostbusters franchise that today's kids and teens don't really care as much as their parents who grew up with the franchise back in the 80's. It's hard for them to relate to something that they never grew up knowing because they weren't properly exposed to it through marketing and advertisements which aren't as mainstream anymore due to the internet.

still hate this concept, but now with a show no one cares about any more.
Um... What?
