Felisa, because Edgar Markov needed to be even stronger.
Felisa cares about nontoken creatures with counters on them dying, which then generate tokens, and Edgar makes tokens that get counters. Yeah, they're both vamps, but their intersectionality seems very limited to me.
Edgar makes tokens when you play non-tokens, and he typically runs a lot of them. A whole deck, in fact. I'd say that's about as much intersectionality as it gets.
I think that's a bit of a stretch. Their game plans will work against each other rather than with one another. Edgar wants you to play vampires, which will make you token vampires, all the while slowly increasing the power of your army. Felisa requires that you play some sort of suicide aggro/counters matter deck that will reward you with tokens. Orzhov counters isn't exactly a well-supported archetype - you have cards that care about counters in both White and Black, but this is new territory.

Felis is herself a vampire, and only cares that Edgar does what he's supposed to do (attack) in order to profit. It's 100% upside, maybe more if you consider the incidental benefits of having Blood Artist and Viscera Seer in your deck. I really don't think it's a stretch, and I really don't think they work against each other either - what you're describing as "suicide aggro/counters matter" looks like plain ol' aristocrats to me, which is par for the course with vampires.
These all seem terrible except that damage prevention spell that makes inklings.
Like there are neat concepts here but so many of these cards are just not giving you enough reward for your resources while simultaneously pushing your opponents ahead on your dime
I think the concept works in principle, but not in execution; this deck is just a little too disjointed to be effective, maybe even with considerable upgrades. The individual cards, however, should see a far amount of play across various archetypes.
Lots of other cards are nice for casual play, producing lots of tokens and "best friend hugs".
(if multiple players run such decks it becomes really interesting to see who allies with who)
Felisa seems really good. It's not hard to throw a bunch of counters on creatures you control, and then have them die off via combat or sacrifice in order to generate seas of inklings. Plus, she has evasion and a way to put counters on creatures herself. Idk, it looks good on paper to me, and I know how crazy things like Cathars' Crusade can get.

This deck looks like a PITA to play against. Too much to remember about who can attack who and who can't attack someone. I'll politely not want to play against this. Magic is supposed to be fun.
Dude, all the cards stop aggression just toward the player of this deck. I’m not seeing anything that stops attacks against any other player.
It's turtling and having to remembering all kinds of odd conditions. Not fun to play against.

Isn't that just EDH in general, though? And part of the skill involved, too; I'd consider myself a fairly experienced player, and I still get hosed by on-board tricks sometimes.
Love the Commanders included and really good reprints but at least imo this has the biggest number of duds so far. Guardian Archon is pretty terrible in any deck that isn't centered around blinking and even then it's just fine, Promise of Loyalty is really fun but underwhelming unless you're going Voltron (which could be a direction to take Breena since she's evasive and grows very fast but the deck doesn't really supports it), Bold Plagiarist relies on your opponents and even when it gets rolling it's just a beeg/huge creature without inherent evasion, Cunning Rhetoric is one of those cards that is much better in 1v1 and will probably be a fun card for Cubes but pretty crappy in Commander itself and Tempting Contract is way overpriced for a card that does nothing if either your opponents don't assist you or if the game has entered the 1v1 stage.
With that said, boy I do love those Commanders. Fain seems lowkey busted, Nils is a cool design and a very powerful political/pillowforting Commander and Felisa is both new space for WB and really fun to build around. Shame she doesn't combos with Rootha, Mercurial Artist, but then again, maybe it's extra flavorful if they don't?
I love the art of Nils and want one. Great white cards in Strixhaven, I am impressed. That said, he looks more like a professor to me. The set needed more professors of various magics IMO. He looks like a law mage professor
IDK about his effect, probably not the best, but interesting. I want to play with the card anyway. Neat art.

He’s a disciplinarian, the art strikes me as very appropriate.

It feels a lot of text on each card though. But I think after a game or two players can catch up, as most of the abilities are intuitive.
Back on the cards, I really like Fain for mg artifact cube. Lots of synergy and I do love to have the “machine” combos. And quite decent for good old aggro as it some combat tricks
I don't know why they bother with all of these pillowfort cards in these colors. It's been done to death by now.
The deck was created by Commander Rules Committee head Sheldon Menery, who loves effects and decks like this. It was bound to happen on his first project.

What is Nils suppose to do? He seems really slow for pillowfort strategies. He supports the +1/+1 theme okay but why is he a legendary? Is there some kind of reason to play him as a commander? Isn't Baird, Steward of Argive just a better option overall? If this is right and I'm not missing something then they missed the opportunity for a white political commander here. I don't no... it seems like he should have Partner with Fain or something. He is clearly the worse of the mono colored legendaries so far. Just seems to be supportive for some niche theme in the deck. Are there any cards that would work good with him? Normally you would distribute your +1/+1 counter effects on your own creatures. Each new threat need several turns to be neutralize or some resources to speed up the process and if they get rid of him than the whole thing back fires badly. Reminds me a lot of Orzhov Advokist.
Maybe is more like a 'I hope they don't focus on me and kill each other'-situation. Shinewend, Mikaeus, the Lunarch, Phantom Nomad and Custodi Soulbinders kind of work with the +1/+1 counter he provides for your board. Still very slow. He could be annoying if your opponent has some kind of counter (+1/+1, keyword) strategy at least.

Agreed.
Theyre hes got some interesting concepts, but thats really all they are.
Like the giving resources to opponents as a way to wheel and deal works in theory, but practice is far different. They wont kill you with those resources sure, but youre helping them kill you with different ones. A lot of people also see those effects helping push one person and end up annoyed with you enough to target you exclusively instead.
Designing a whole deck around his favored concepts just feels like it misses the mark.
Politics needs to happen naturally, it cant be forced.

In my experience, this playstyle's successes are a direct result of a player's ability, even more than most. Players who are particularly skilled at leveraging political/pillowfort/etc effects can use their own negotiation/manipulation/deception to create wins in situations others can't. Which, come to think of it, is really in flavor for Silverquill. I agree with you that playing politics needs to be natural, but I definitely see some uses for some of these cards, Nils in particular. I can't wait to convince my friends that I'm helping them then clearing everything with a Dusk or something similar. In casual circles, I've had the most success with these types of decks, so I'm really interested in this deck.

Promise of Loyalty: Avengers... EXTERMINATE!
And Fain... "Make sure we get Hiddles for the movie."

You don't think Ghostly Prison on a stick is decent? You can tutor for him with Recruiter of the Guard and bring him back with Reveillark.
