This looks like the artist took a picture of some guy & then painted around him. Maybe the artist owed this guy a favor or was blackmailed into doing this. Either way, atrocious. I can't decide which is worse, this 1 or the original Stasis art by Fay Jones. That one looks like Fay ran out of time & didn't finish it. Wotc must be hiring elementary school kids to do their artwork now.
The art might be treading into "it's so bad that it's good" territory here. Interesting, to say the least, to use almost photorealistic body along with MSPaint scrappiness. It's definitely something new.

She painted this, all of this, including the 'photo' part. You can blame this on the art direction, not on the artist, she has some impressive skills and a very distinctive, unique style.

The harmonize wasn't terrible, but this one is. The cape and the eyes are really too cartoony

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
If garbage were sentient and had its own garbage can, this would be found there. Banana taped to the wall level trash being pawned off as "art".

This is giving a run for the Foglios' money in my "Worst MtG artists" list...sucks that if we want to play Looting in Historic we're saddled with this bathroom wall art :/
Wow...This is the worst card art I've seen in a very long time.
Couldn't they have asked Drew Tucker to do something for less commission instead?
Honestly, I wouldn't sleeve this card in a deck even if someone bought me the playset and had it signed by the artist.
All I would want to do when drawing or seeing this is exile it to a non-visible zone outside the game (box or binder)
Is this the part where I bring in that the artist did all this by hand?
She clearly is capable of making good art, but for whatever reason produced an utter dud here that basically nobody likes.
The "feedback" on the card is overwhelming negative ... its like nobody in quality control had the balls to speak out and say "This is not up to standards".
They quite literally abandoned there quality control.

Yeah, the overall response I've seen online has been "more Harmonize, less... this thing."
First off I appreciate the willingness to branch out and go all out on weirder art. I understand the idea behind the artwork and mixing shaded figures with flat elements and colors. Something like Klimt or Art Noveau-ish. That's cool. But holy carp this looks bad not gonna lie. Composition is fine but by God those flat elements loo like automatic MS Paint shapes and overall this picture reminds me of like bad Youtube thumbnails on meme videos or those old Tripod and Angelfire sites which were basically a collection of dissonant nonsense.
I think I've learned to treat Magic cards like baseball cards: keep 'em in a binder in numerical order, don't play with 'em, try to finish the set and just keep my head down.

I really like this art, actually. My favorite artists range from Escher and Dali to Haring and Basquiat. I often find juxtaposition art fun and intriguing. The works of Magritte and Arcimboldo, for instance, embody juxtaposition and are some of the art pieces I most admire. I also really love Faithless Looting, so maybe this card is specifically for me?!?
It's better than Return to Ravnica's syncopate art.
To be honest I don't hate the style, but I do wish it had some small differences that I feel would make a world of difference. I wish the overall colors blended a little more together rather than have them appear so clashing like a collage. I think it would have made it feel more magic like and less new age collage.
In some way it reminds me of "She who we do not speak of" (T. N.) Art, in the sense that's its trying to go for that abstract, geometric weirdness, which I actually appreciate. There are a lot of magic cards that end up just looking the same as like every other card that functions similarly to it, and although this art style isn't everyone's cup of tea I do applaud them for at least trying to break free from the norm.
You should see all the simps on twitter praising the artist like she is Picasso. It is insane how many people have no taste. This looks like a bad Scarlet Witch cosplay photoshopped onto a 5 year olds art class drawing.

Now that I look at it again, for like the 5th time, it sort of reminds me of cut scenes from Zelda's Adventure, the CDi game.
Aka wasted talent on terrible art style.

Hope there are more people like you (for my selfish purpose )
