Uh... I’m not sure what your problem with the flavor of the card is.
Sometimes indestructible squirrels with prosthetic limbs simply toss Viking funeral ships at giants that crush the bones of humans, destroying the ship and killing the giant.

I mean, the flavor is pretty self-explanatory.
I don‘t get the vigilance aspect of a corpse.
I think you have to look at it this way: It's not the corpse who is crewing the boat, and the one who does probably has to vigilantly guard it. At least that's how I see it.
I think it's more "a crew of the dead does not need to stop when the living would. It is single minded in it's task: to carry the dead to their final destination."
I'm not sure how a boat carrying a corpse can be a 3/3....that is, unless you light it on fire with an arrow as many of the shows tells us they did. Then I guess the fire can make it a 3/3
Eh, Magic has always had a power and toughness problem. Most people could punt a squirrel if it came at them, but apparently two can take down a grizzly bear, or a philosopher.

0/1 for corpse.
+3/+2 for stench.
Using Stenchskipper for stat hypothesis. Flying, 3/3 for 3B seems reasonable...because its stinky it gets +3/+2.

best explanation possible. Well done. I’ll accept this as fact

Today a single-target Rally to Battle and a Viking funeral longboat find their way immediately to the Card Image Gallery with little fanfare.

Abuse me, Funeral Ship of the Necromancer
crew 1
You may exile a creature card in your graveyard rather than pay the crew cost
Whenever Abuse me deals combat damage to an opponent you may return a card exiled with abuse me to the battlefield tapped
*taps Elizabeth Swan to crew Funeral Barge*
"I hope you like ghost stories, miss Swan... You're in one!"
Also, every time I read "of the Cosmos" I think it must be a mythic.
