So what happens if the enchanted creature dies to combat instead? (Is the card just emphasizing that sacrificing the enchanted creature is one way to get rid of it and Withercrown?)
Also, is that Egon in the back of this card's art?
From flavor text who’s egon in the picture the old man or the lady
anyway if it made the creature loose all abilities as well then we would be talking
Part 1 of the Kaldheim Planeswalker's Guide already says that Egon looks like a teenage boy.
In the card's art, that is Egon on the right. (Egon has been spoiled and has that haircut, sorta)
If the creature dies to combat, it dies. And its controller would stop losing life because the enchantment is gone too. This is a pretty bad removal option for aggressive decks but decent otherwise.
Actually WB angels also probably can pick this up late since it's just going to fly over the 0/4. It seems stronger there, but probably less needed than in elves.
Basically it's a card that control decks can use on non-utility creatures that aggressive decks won't want unless they're evasive.
Well, at least it's a decent way to deal with your opponent's bomb in Limited. In one sense this is slightly worse than Illusory Wrappings/Reduce in Stature because those auras don't give them a way out by sacrificing the creature.

The card itself seems worse than Guard Duty both outright and also in the context of this tribal set.
But I could be wrong.
I miss Stab Wound.
