Am i wrong or the god is good and the hammer is terrible?

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
I feel like the hammers ability should NOT have required tap. That way after attacking declared, throw the hammer before damage.
Or gave creature vigilance.
The fact you pay 6 to deal 3 damage w hammer back to your hand seems too steep.
The hammer returning to hand means you can use it early game then flip it into the gods later.
I'm kinda sad that both sides are one card for commander and such but love how the two sides work well with each other with most of the gods.

“There are no weak Jews. I am descended from those who wrestle angels and kill giants. We were chosen by God. You were chosen by a pathetic little man who can't seem to grow a full mustache"
"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
Yeah the flavor is there, but it is weak. Maybe less weak than the blue god's bird, but still.
At first I thought they could use "Spell trample" to simplify the wording but you wouldn't be able to redirect to any other target. Today is "slightly confusing wording day" I guess ^^

Reminder that Toralf's ability is noncombat damage itself, and it can re-trigger itself in multiple instances of damage. Combo with Torbran, Thane of Red Fell, amp every instance by 2 and suddenly a measly Lightning Bolt becomes a chain reaction of death.

Oh wow, that's hilarious. Imagine your opponent has like ten 1/1s out and you lightning bolt one of them...

I think people are missing the fact that if you have both Thor and his Hammer, he becomes a mini-Inferno Titan.
If you have the hammer equipped to a creature with Thor on the table, you can then kill 3 x/1's with one activation. It deals 3 to the first, then the excess 2 damage goes to the next, then the excess 1 damage goes to the last. That's pretty strong. With Torbran out, it just wipes their board, most likely.
Holy *****. I designed something very similar to this but it lacked the opponent clause (and double face) because it felt way too good. Not gonna complain as seeing this become real is like enough for me as I wanted to submit it for that make-a-wish event where you got to design a card.
^ list of cards is what me and friends had realized would be bonkers with it.
Edit: A trick you can do is Harmless Offering a Stuffy Doll and then as someone pointed out use Torbran, Thane of Redfell. As you accumulate a bunch of big damage, kill one player through stuffy, then potentially kill another with the damage trigger from Toralf. Such a legendary creature like Toralf thrives off big board states with lots of creatures you don't control.

I think it hardly makes the card good but I'll admit this interaction is pretty funny ^^

The moment you pull that off, you get to play The Immigrant Song and pretend you're Thor in this scene:

that’s pretty funny
And it’s true that makes this card beyond bonkers if you can get the cards out for a one side sweep the board with just a one dang single lightning bolt
The gods in this set feel more like goofy humans rather than gods. Not sure how I feel about them.
I mean, half the point of the Norse gods is that, first of all, as with certain other pantheons of gods (like the Greek gods), Norse gods are very close to the temperament and behavior of the humans.
Unlike most other pantheons, however, Norse gods aren't immortal. At all. On the contrary, when they die they go to Hel or Valhalla just like everyone else. And, unlike virtually every other pantheon of gods, the Norse gods are not inherently born immortal. They are ONLY able to stay youthful in body and long-lived enough to see Ragnarok because of magical apples grown by their fellow Norse goddess, Iðunn. If they did not eat these apples, Norse gods grow old and die of natural causes, just like everyone else.
Norse gods being fundamentally mortal but powerful beings is kind of one of the whole things that make them unique amongst pantheons.

I understand this. I just feel like they're kind of underrepresented in their art for their true strength. They all look like... well, common humans. I guess it somewhat fits with the flavor of the lore, but it still feels lacking.

While I agree with this description, this isn't unique to Norse myth.
I think I've learned to treat Magic cards like baseball cards: keep 'em in a binder in numerical order, don't play with 'em, try to finish the set and just keep my head down.
Today Mark talks about the different aspects of Kaldheim came to be. With him is Thor, God of Giving Your Noncombat Damage Trample, and his Hammer. May your Blasphemous Acts always kill everyone your go against.

The card is basically 4 mana 5/4 trample and a recurring 3 damage bolt effect.
And the card is STILL just awful for constructed ...
Thats how far we got ...
