I like Hullbreacher’s design, but a part of me wishes that this had been a white card. First Opposition Agent bled a bit of White’s rule-making and arguably has a better effect than White would get. Then this card does a thing that White should be doing, namely locking/slowing down and disrupting attempts to get ahead. They both even have Flash, which really encroaches on White’s slice of pie when connected to a tax effect.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
Why does WotC insist on sabotaging White in EDH? Every card we’ve gotten in White this year that was supposed to give it a boost in the format has been lackluster, and now Black and Blue are stealing White’s tricks. Opposition Agent and Hullbreacher are mono-White cards and yet WotC saw fit to give them to the two best colors in EDH. Why?
The art for Hullbreacher is really intense and dramatic; I love it. Feels like a still from a movie. I can almost feel the motion of the ship rocking and hear the sound of the thundering waves and the storm. I feel like I'm literally there. It's unexpectedly one of my favorite illustrations of the year.
I find Hullbreacher being completely mono-white in concept hard to believe when it does Notion Thief's hosing job but generally worse (I've often ended up with too much mana and nothing to spend it on, regardless of format).
Like Opposition Agent, Hullbreacher will likely see Legacy and Vintage play anyway. Ganking one opposing Brainstorm or virtually countering one Ancestral Recall is generally enough, making opponents not cast more until it's booted is even better, and it even fits in Legacy Merfolk decks to boot.

Hell, even red seem to work better with Hullbreacher than blue. Given blue's dominance in EDH, why is WotC of all people giving blue ramping?
Oh its Mana Drain , again ... and again ... and again ...
These reprints of reprints of reprints are getting old really quick.
Yes its still expensive, but cmon, its not like we have no other cards to reprint, instead we get the same bunch of cards all over again on endless repeat ...
----
For the "white" hate cards, i would have liked them all as White Multicolor cards.
Opposition Agent as a Orzhov/Dimir (could even be Esper color for that) would have been more in line of the effect, but they made it mono black to make it viable for more decks, cause its crazy power level (so the color identity principle of EDH is really hurting the design and balance aspects in that regard, as WotC is actively producing cards to be as viable for as many color combinations as possible).
Hullbreacher probably should have been at least white in its casting cost, and/or red.
Making it a WUR manacost would even be more inline with its effect, but once again, that would have restricted in what kind of decks this card could go, and once again WotC decides to make it mono blue to ensure people play it in as many decks as possible.
Adding FLASH to all these hate creatures is just icing on the powerlevel cake. Its absolutely not necessary, but it grants them free benefits.

...i mean like i get it, theres things like ancient tomb, and senseis divining top, and mana vault that need reprinting...
but this one is a powerhouse in the format and its price jumped pretty high again. There were worse choices that couldve been made like another cryptic command reprint.
I dont think this is a reprint worth complaining about in any way. If it was bad sure, if it was worthless sure, if it didnt see play sure, but its none of those things.

Yeah kind of. White has a similar effect with Alms Collector. And at least one card that does the 'only one card draw in your turn' thing with Spirit of the Labyrinth. In addition the card has similarities to Smothering Tithe because of the draw condition and the treasure. But it fits perfectly in the pirate theme and blue color pie. It is, I believe, the first mono blue card that is doing this, tho. While white were already dipping in this kind of effects. If this card would have been white than the effect should have been a little different, too. Like adding some kind of taxing condition on top the whole treasure creation, draw rule thing (similar to Smothering Tithe). Well at least it is a creature which can be easily removed.

If this were White, I don’t believe it would need a tax cost like Smothering Tithe. Tithe has to go through Standard, so makes sense the diagnosis would give the opponent an option. Since this is going straight into Commander, it should work like Alms Collector and give no option. It would give a nice boost to White, keeping with tax effects, but scaled for Commander.

How on EARTH is Mana Drain 'again and again and again'? It has been printed 3 times in 26 years. The original, a mythic in ONE masters set, ne of the worst and lower selling ones...and a Judge Promo. . It's one of those cards, as i keep explaining to people, that there are more copies of any given Ikoria mythic floating around out there, and Ikoria was released DURING lockdown over here in the US. I would guess that TOTAL, it has a similar number of copies to Rings of Brighthearth,it's like the best choice they are ALLOWED to reprint.

Commander protection AND stealing their draws. Oh, and Mana Drain. Classic blue.
EDIT: You know people are pissed about white being garbage when everyone ignores the Mana Drain.
