Just curious - what is an "etched foil"? I see this card got the clear textbox and white-font treatment that many set promos have received in recent years, but what is "etched"?
Cascade was originally a reward for playing multicolored cards during Alara play as many colors as possible theme so interesting to see it branching out.

They should really give the text a black border so it has a better contrast on these cards.
The white text is just awful if the background on the card is also very bright or white.

The split colors for multicolor look decent, kinda like what people did for years in Custom Set Editors and how they made Hybrid mana cards.
But it also blurs the identification of hybrid and multicolor.
Proper GOLD borders of old made a card look a lot better than the yellow dirt color they use for multicolor cards.
Boggart Ram-Gang, there you could at least read the text box clearly, this new style just makes the card cluttered with colors at the expense of readability and clearness.
Maelstrom Colossus is very nice. Many important cards for Colorless EDH are on thesixorsevenmanarange. It costing 8 seems like the perfect spot for those decks so I can see this seeing play, if only because Colorless has a limited card pool.

The foiling has a heavy texture to it and it's applied to the border instead of the art. It should feel the same as any other card but the foiling does makes the border "pop" while giving the impression of the art being lower than usual by contrast so that's probably why they called it "etched". See here.
