This will include all Commander Legends products: Draft Boosters, Collector Boosters, and Commander Decks. Prereleases will occur starting November 13, 2020 (Prerelease promos will have the previous date printed on them. In regions where in-store play is paused, organizers may host at-home and remote Prereleases only). On Magic Online, product and events will be available Thursday, November 19, 2020.
Previews for the highly anticipated set will now begin October 26, 2020.
No surprise there, better they push it back rather than having another Jumpstart where most people still can't get a hold of them due to the printing issues.
They really should have made Jumpstart a bigger priority. Allowing it to be a chase product that new and casual players can’t get their hands on was such a stupid, shortsighted move. Jumpstart could and should have been an excellent entry point, available at Target, Wal-Mart, etc. I can find Bundles at those places, but not a product designed to be played right out of the package.
it most likely got bumped due to delays in shipping/printing. there is still a global pandemic on after all. a lot of shops aren't even doing events because of that. i don't think a delayed release/previews are a good indicator of paper's health all things considered.
i do think paper is headed toward a collapse, not a death, but ultimately i think that has nothing to do with this.

i agree completely... but again, covid. then throw in that many of the cards are high demand, and that its so rare to see product that its often bought out completely because who knows when you'll see it again, plus printing/shipping delays... its no wonder it ended up a complete ******* mess
though i do sometimes wonder if its actually an artificial scarcity to drive up demand on their part. print less, blame the pandemic, everyone rushes out to buy everything they can whenever its restocked. similar to how nintendo under produces their game systems at launch. its pretty duplicitous, but i honestly wouldn't put it past them any more. someone at the top very clearly saw what worked for mobile gaming, and video gaming, and tried to apply it to their entire paper business model. arguably to disastrous effect all the product changes this year, and how hard they lean into FOMO, is a pretty good indicator of that type of business model. so... maybe it really is a scheme? speaking of wtf ever happened with archenemy... uh anyway...
yeah, covid causing supply issues and junk or something.
It is more because the lack of distribution right now as a whole, the lack of available LGS to play physical magic and an overflow of product that is just doing some weird things. More Arena tournaments and less paper tournies etc.
It is hyperbole, (i even said it 20 years ago sold off before... and regretted it) but it's in a weird state for sure.
Covid really did a number on it. Banned and overpowered chase mythics cause insecurity and stagnation in one fail swoop.
Hard to keep up with the "collecible" paper side of cards unless you shell out to the whale packages Wotc is selling us.
Singles will still be available I assume but might be less options and competiton when it all settles out.

Without more detailed knowledge about the internal processes here, I think it's quite hard to say much about this.
I mean, sure. There's a pandemic. It tracks. Could they have handled this better somehow? I don't know. Maybe. Again, hard for us to say,

I've been amazed that my Wal-Mart only had about 20 Jumpstart packs. I bought two and they were gone the next week I went grocery shopping. My LGS didn't even have a binder dedicated to the set for how hard they've been to come by.
Makes you wonder if Jumpstart was a success if barely anyone could get a hold of them.
But yet they had no problem with Zendikar releasing on time. Same with M21.
This is getting full of lamesauce.

Because those are the mainline Standard-legal sets. This is more like Jumpstart, which came out with M21 in June but is only arriving in Europe on the 16th.
Not sure why the previews were pushed back... this feels like a possible passive aggressive rebuttal to the public outcry on the Walking Dead Secret Lair. Maybe it's a far-flung conspiracy, but why else would they have to move them? Some people enjoy the slower spoiler season, which I can see why, but this is the one product I was looking forward to seeing what they put in it. Due to this secret lair Walking Dead affecting Commander drastically, it feels like they wanted to just throw the previews back as backlash for our negative reviews.

I could see it.
Again, why push back the previews? Especially since they can help build some interest while we wait for the delay.
I'm afraid these packs are going to be very hard to find much like Jumpstart. I managed to pick up 2 packs at my local store and then never saw jumpstart again.

And lose valuable revenue because of it? This post is pretty silly at best. They will never ever hold bad a product that will sell because another product has bad press because that hurts their bottom line more than it would ever hurt the playerbase

Why do they push back previews though?
Because giving players more time to sit and think about new cards means giving more time for hype to die down and for cards to be adequately assessed, resulting in diminished impulse purchases fueled by raw hype?

Because they want previews to take place shortly before release to hype people up to buy?
Obviously.
That's why they do previews in the first place.

Ikoria's previews were also pushed back because release was, but not close to the physical product release. People were pissed for weeks all the way into release week. Jumpstart is a similar scenario for anyone not in North America due to production issues.. This time, they don't want to screw it up.
Wizards doesn't like pushing stuff back like this, because leakers get a bigger chance of showing up and ruining their marketing plan. Something big happened, and it's not the Secret Lair. Double Masters went through despite all the vitriol around its price tag and the entire existence of VIP Boosters.
As to the argument of a slower spoiler season, War of the Spark spoiler season ran for three weeks, and leakers showed up at week 3. Wizards really, really doesn't like leaks, so that experiment didn't go so well.
Due to production challenges related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the decision to push back the full global launch of Commander Legends to November 20, 2020.
This will include all Commander Legends products: Draft Boosters, Collector Boosters, and Commander Decks. Prereleases will occur starting November 13, 2020 (Prerelease promos will have the previous date printed on them. Welcome product relief honestly. I dont mind a lull in eternal spoiler season.

(ofocarse part of that reason is probably the double wrapped cards)
But preview season day should have not been delayed because 1 ikorias preview season didn’t get delayed and 2 more time for evil leakers to strike
