strictly worse hour of revelation since its 2 or should i say 5 cheaper than this is what I see here but the good part is that it's a land on the other so easier to put in edh decks so might be as much as a staple as revelation due to that
I think this is very relevant in a lot of decks. This card is a board wipe or a land when you need it, and in EDH and control decks those are two very relevant cards.

Planar Cleansing is the base for this effect. And I find Planar Cleansing a bit too much to pay sometimes.

might run this over a plains... somewhere... but probably not worth the loss of tempo, and at 8 mana... well i mean i guess its a good oh ***** button sometimes but hitting 8 mana in white can be rough

I mean, you can't play Hour of Revelation as a land in any situation. I think you're underestimating the upside of that. This costs a lot of mana, but it takes up a land slot in your deck.

Agreed. Your deck will be improved by replacing one basic plains with one of these.
Entering tapped is pretty bad too.
This is just a land if you really dont have anything better to play.
For 8 mana its incredible expensive and you have to evaluate how often you are actually going to cast it at all (most decks its basically never, as 8 mana is so much).
BUT
For Golos, Tireless Pilgrim as a commander, these lands are perfect. Huge spells to activate into to cast them for free, and lands that also help for Field of the Dead.
For the super casual kind of decks this will suffice, as they play slow enough magic with enough bad cards that makes this reasonable to be a play almost all the time over the course of a game.
But for cEDH cards like this tend to be completely worthless as mana efficiency is way more important (and a 4-5 mana spell better wins you the game to be worth including).

I was referring to EDH, as in the post I was quoting. I do realize these lands do have some drawbacks over basics. If we're talking about modern, hopefully your opponent gets disqualified if they use a wasteland against you.

Oh no I know that I'm just saying revelation is easier to cast but this has a huge advantage of having a land side for when you can’t cast it or don’t want to

My first statement could easily refer to both Modern and Legacy; my second refers to Legacy. In Legacy, even a 4-mana board wipe is very rarely playable.
With nissa leaving (There is a god and he is just), I like this a lot for standard as a supplemental wrath for control decks. This is the poster child for effects you don't really wanna see early, so having the option of playing this as a land drop early if you need it makes this card significantly better then a lot of people are making it out to be.
In any deck that can accept an etbt land this card seems like a no-brainer. Only question is whether the other flip-lands are more powerful, and whether they will be played instead or in addition to this, imo.
Because sometimes you don't want to blow the whole world up.

Depends.
Basic Land has intrinsic advantages (Path to Exile, Blood Moon, etc).
Entering tapped is pretty bad too.

Nah, that land loses me tempo, is nerfed by Blood Moon, gets hit by Wasteland, and can't be tutored for when my opponent hits my stuff with Path to Exile, Assassin's Trophy, Ghost Quarter, or Field of Ruin. An 8-mana board wipe is obscenely expensive in Modern, especially at sorcery speed.

The fact the other side is a land make this very different than other cards seen before. There are no comparisons.
