Let's start the year with a visit to Viking world Kaldheim
In the spring, we go to Strixhaven
For the summer, we cross the streams into the Forgotten Realms
Good news Innistrad fans: we have TWO Innistrad sets in the fall
And for supplementals we have:
This will release around March, and is the first Remastered set to be released on paper. Each pack comes with one old-bordered reprint
THIS IS WHERE THE ENEMY FETCHLANDS ARE
EDIT: Here's the release schedule for 2021
EDIT 2: Here's what those old-border reprints look like.
Looks like we're finally going back to the true fantasy roots of Magic.
I hope the art goes back more to its roots, as well.
That said, I'm surprised they bother to change the font of expansions this time around. I guess even WotC is tired of using the same font (but different colors) again and again.
And no core set instead DnD set...i can get behind that.
Also I recently finished a new disney show called the owl house and renewed my interest in magical schools so Strixhaven will be fun.
Wonder if they will say Ramaz is canon with Kaldheim.

“There are no weak Jews. I am descended from those who wrestle angels and kill giants. We were chosen by God. You were chosen by a pathetic little man who can't seem to grow a full mustache"
"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
Kaldheim is unsurprising but good to finally see. I wonder if we might see Ramaz again?
Strixhaven will be interesting to see what it is going to be like. I imagine it will be somewhat like Ravnica as an urban setting with several competing factions. I expect there will be some Harry-potter type vibes here.
D&D Magic set is slightly unexpected. Wonder if Zendikar rising's party mechanic will return then given it's a very D&D thing.
Innistrad 3 is unsurprising, but I was less sure they would do more than one set. Interesting that the sets are so clearly given specific themes here. I wonder how strong the focus will be? I'm guessing there will still be a decent chunk of werewolves in vampires and vampires in werewolves. But will there be a significant imbalance? And what about spirits and zombies? I guess they just won't get the same limelight, but I'm sure they'll be there.
Time Spiral remastered is just...sure. Whatever.
Modern Horizons 2 having fetchlands is nice in the same year that fetches will be appearing as super-premium box toppers. Provides an alternate way to sate people's thirst for copies that's going to be more accessible.
I always wanted Sliversmith reprinted in paper in some kind of Modern Masters, or some kind of supplemental set so I can finally get my hands on officially released paper Metallic Sliver tokens. Please be in Time Spiral remastered!
In all seriousness though, Time Spiral remastered is an interesting choice. I wonder if it's simply going to be Time Spiral block compressed into a single set, or a more updated design. Also looking forward to the Forgotten Realms set.
As long as Thalia is in one ore bothof the innistrad sets, all is fine with me I still have an open slot in my 3x4 foil Thalia printings page of my collectibles binder.
Honnestly though. I'm fine with the announcements as is, for this year has felt like a continuous stream of spoilers.
Lots of Slivers in Time Spiral/Planar Chaos/Future Sight could use paper reprints with updated wording technology so I’m so stoked there as well!!!!
They won't change the Slivers to "Slivers you control..." if that's what you mean. That would functionally change how the cards work, and they don't do functional errata to existing cards, even when reprinting.

That is not what I meant. They will now place instances of “permanent”, “any target”, “menace”, “reach” (and anything else I’ve forgotten) where need be with the proper wording.

I wonder if both Innistrads will be released at the same time? Or are there 2 Q4 blocks with different release dates?
Interesting choice of blocks. Love the DND and Kaldheim. I am really hoping they find a way to actually have a story in the lore again that creates an archnemisis -- so hopefully we'll find an antagonist in Kaldheim. I'm not a fan of Harry Potter nor Innistrad in general, but since Innistrad was always a "when" as to when we get back there, I hope Strixhaven is more interesting than like a... Theme park drop by, as far as magic lore is concerned (like Ikoria was).

Vampire most likely if it comes to that [:)] she did form an alliance with Olivia Voldaren briefly after all.

Well, Ikoria didn't kill the franchise so I guess they feel free to try out pretty much anything at this point. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say Werewolves and Vampires are two smaller sets with an even smaller shared pool of cards that can be drafted interchangeably. Kind of like a mini block being released simultaneously?
Innistrad: the Twilight saga. Will they have Edward Cullen and Jacob as promo cards? Ewww.

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
I, for one, am super glad they've given up on that uniform font idea. They were losing so much visually. These are much cooler. I'm excited for all these sets. Maybe a little cautious about the D&D one, but I bet they'll do a good job.

But interestingly no Core Set 2022. I guess DND is taking over that spot then?
EDIT: Did you see the disclaimer below the Innistradi set names? "Set names not final." So it could change again.

With probably no concerts in 2021 either (increasingly looking likely), that helps me save money for Modern Horizons 2 and Time Spiral Remastered.
