@leslak, there are more references to that Circle.
The stones that Jace is surrounded by in he top left of the image you gave, as well as the half floating thing hes looking at too (probably a broken statue of the dipiction), though it looks like a toothy thing now. Also there is the small monument behind the trap he dodges too.
Its also possible that the creature Nahiri fights is what leads her to that orb she has floating, which those images also seem to depict. Maybe they were both (treasure) hunting the same thing and its that orb?
was nahiri imprissoned in the hellvault pre or postmending ? if premending, did it effect her or does she still posses old planeswalker powers ?
Pre-mending and when she was freed from the helvault (or maybe during it) she lost her old walker powers but, like other still living old walkers, still has the knowledge and years of experience so she is still pretty powerful.

Someone brought it up on Reddit but the Ancients were a group of old planeswalkers, older than perhaps most of the Oldwalkers we know, though this is perhaps speculation on my part. They warred against the upstart Tolgath, then a 'new' generation of planeswalkers whose desire to learn somehow led to the conflict between the two groups. The Ancients and the Tolgath presumably could have had outposts on Zendikar, and thier war may have been interplanar in nature.
But even if these are the Ancients being referred to in the card, what does Nahiri stand to inherit from them? Their technology? Lore? Or their antagonism towards the younger generation of planeswalkers meddling in their affairs? Nissa and Jace witnessed what Nahiri did to Innistrad. They also know that for whatever reason, Ugin Nahiri and Sorin decided to trap the Eldrazi Titans on Zendikar. I doubt Nissa and Jace would have warm feelings towards Nahiri and I'm equally doubtful that Nahiri could believe this younger generation could ever understand the sacrifices she undertook to protect her world.
I could be wrong but names have meaning and this would not be the first time in the recent past that WotC has referenced some pretty obscure lore as the basis of a story arc.
I don't think Jace and/or Nissa actually know that Nahiri had anything to do with the events on Innistrad, though..? Is it ever stated in the story?
Unless I'm forgetting something, the only planeswalker who ever encountered Nahiri on Innistrad was Sorin. Liliana knows it was Nahiri, because she was present during Sorin's recruiting of the Voldarens in Innistrad's Last Hope though I don't believe she ever knew just WHO Nahiri was, nor do I think she ever shared that information with anyone in the Gatewatch. At least, none that I can recall in the stories, and it's highly unlikely she would have bothered to do so after the fact. She's not exactly the most forthcoming with details.
I also don't recall anyone mentioning it in War of the Spark, just that she and Sorin were fighting, then mysteriously not fighting any more.

For some reason I thought Jace learned it was Nahiri behind the cryptoliths while he was on Innistrad though I could be wrong in that. If this is true I wouldn't be surprised if he recounted what he learned at greater length sometime in the space between Eldritch Moon and Kaladesh.

Wizards. listen. The Vorthos community will await the consequences of the Eldrazi Titans' deaths/sealing. We will keep the watch.

Wasn't it Tamiyo who tipped Jace off through her journal entries? Jace pieced the clues (!) together and had a "DERP I KNOW WHO DID IT!" moment.
I want to know how this all ties into the "grander story arc" that was hinted at in Eldraine.

wow, he actually filled the whole image with details unlike usual pw artwork where lower half is only blurry sketch because it's hidden behind text on the card. very appreciated.
Ropes in the showcase depiction make me a little smile... Nahiri doesn't climb rocks, she SWIMS into them!
For the regular art, I appreciate such an iconic background for Zendikar's protector on her first home appearance in a Standard set.
If I would suggest one change for Nahiri, a trigger ability at the beginning of your upkeep she makes a variation of Throwing Knife Equipment token and the image looks like her signature flaming sword.
Card ******* sucks. This equipment theme she had was completed in the first iteration. Now their are fusing the first with the second and it's terrible. I think it's okay to make these middle of the road Planeswalker now, like hualtis first version, that can do everything on the first turn but it leads to severe balancing issues and since there is no payoff and they aren't hyper effieicient they just fall by the wayside, badly.

The card is pretty niche for equipment but decent.

Like the Ancients theory.
