Corsair Captain 2U
Creature- Human Pirate
When Corsair Captain enters the battlefield, create a Treasure token.
Other Pirates you control get +1/+1. "Lungs full of sea air and a hold full of loot. Ah, what a life!"
2/2
The Pirate theme has two decklists for its theme. Lots of theft and water is involved, as expected.
That island art is phenomenal. Love how they make cards that create treasure tokens or add X mana whenever you cast them to make it look like you're casting them for a "bargain" cost.
Oh my god, why that Coursair Captain sucks so much? The only thing he gives you more than adaptive automaton is a single treasure. Not even some form of evasion.
They think pirates are too strong to get a better lord? Dogs can get pack leader but we need adaptive automaton level for pirates?

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
I have to say this. Most of the basic lands from this set are some of the most imaginative pieces of arts for lands in some time. I actually want to buy basics for once for how cool I think some of them are.
That lord is a little disappointing. If it was an uncommon it would be alright, maybe be 3/2.
Really sad we didnt get captain Parrish. Or literally any commander to replace beckett brass, ramirez or our too limiting mono red options.
Beckett Brass could be an awesome commander, but simply there aren't enough playable pirates.

Raid - At the end of combat on your turn, if you attacked this turn, create a Treasure Token (It’s an artifact with “T, Sacrifice this artifact: Add one mana of any color.”).
There now your pirate lord is at least interesting and worthy of its rare status.

I raise you this:
"whenever another Pirate enters the battlefield under your control, create a Treasure token."
On par with merrow reejerey

Any part of an infinite combo that involves ashnod altar, deadly navigator, food chain, or pemmins aura/freed from the real is not a problem - it is just a new way of enabling easily abusable cards

I'd still take the Corsair Captain nonetheless. Reef Pirates will be unstoppable now!

Reconnaissance Mission from ikoria is strictly better

Beckett Brass could be an awesome commander, but simply there aren't enough playable pirates.
Beckett brass is too fugly a card to have to have on the battlefield/command zone at all times.
