the etb effect makes him pretty much a staple to red/x decks revolving around creatures in edh. i know he automatically has a place in my feldon build, if i still had ulasht together it fits right in there too
If you play a Dragon-themed deck with accelerators, this is a good drop with 5 casting cost.
The ability of "soft protection" is nice, but the possiibility to control the board from drops is really good. This card has a niche.
This is an odd one. The stats are amazing, the ability is great, and the protection is notable...
...except that banishing light can swallow this guy whole (note that the 3 life only protects against spells, not abilities).
Still think that this card is an amazing dragon that will make a big splash in commander but it lacks the immediate of something like glorybringer so I’m not sure how it will do elsewhere. Crossing my fingers, though.
Oh my god finally something that breaks the like, 2 year streak of absolutely awful dragons. For the first time in years I finally have one card, ONE CARD, to make me look forward to playing my The Ur-Dragon deck with.

If you use removal as an argument, that’s not an argument. Elspeth Conquers Death also eats this up and will be in the same standard. Glorybringer’s standard was much faster and also had Cast Out.

"The essence of every world, every spell and every thought is power. Nothing else matters, because nothing else exists."
Missing the haste of most of the best 5 drop dragons. Haste is how you kill someone by being perfectly on curve with your finisher. This will still be good in casual, but not op like the other 5cc dragons, which is s good thing imho.
Prety cool card. don't think that in a Standard with Baneslayer Angel it would be that good but at least you can use his ability to deal damage to your opponent.
Scourge of Valkas did it first (and I actually pulled this off a couple times in my Scion of the Ur-Dragon deck but this is nice redundancy and more versatile outside of the combo!

Archatmos
Excellion
Fracture: Israfiel (WBR), Wujal (URG), Valedon (GUB), Amduat (BGW), Paladris (RWU)
Collision (Set Two of the Fracture Block)
Quest for the Forsaken (Set Two of the Excellion Block)
Katingal: Plane of Chains
Probably a good commander card.
I fully understand why this doesn't have haste: Dragonstorm storm count 2 would kill.
Interestingly a Dragonstorm with storm count 2 could get Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund + Terror of the Peaks for 19 damage.
Actually the crunch said this is the final mythic
