Welcome back, Jolrael. We hope you enjoy the card draw.
Well that is going to be my next commander. Going to need to get me that extended art as well as its one of the rare times they don't do a weird squish to try and make it fit but actually end up cutting off some of the art for it.
I suppose you could build her to barf tokens through other means with the sole intent of buffing them with her ability after a regal force or something.

Looking at this outside of commander... as a 1/2 for 2, she only needs to make you a single cat to feel pretty good about it and beyond that she can really dominate. Selesnya or Naya cycling could really be a thing.
As I see it, she's around to be sloted into Xyris decks. Green has a lot of card draw effects but virtually no card draw "pay-offs" (other than the cards that you draw, of course) and this can make all of your tiny snakes really big.

Ooh yes, perfect! The build of Xyris I'm working on is a little "group hug" in the card draw effect space, which will naturally trigger Jolrael's token making ability too. The deck is looking for that sweet spot of things that care about when you draw, things that make creatures, and things that care about making lots of creatures, and she hits all three.
Also, her ultimate turns all your creatures into Maros, which is a cool throwback since that creature premiered in Mirage, the set that introduced Jolrael into the lore.
Anyway base on this only the blue legend remains form the rare cycle
That means I'm 99% sure now it's Barrin for that one for the vanguard legend

This was in Maro's article yesterday. May be the blue legendary is his wife?
Oh that's a good point, if we don't have the "first time" legend yet, that slot can't be filled by Barrin (or Jolrael or Mangara). Is it also possible there are more legends than just the monocolor cycle and the buy a box promo?
Something needs to fill in the "A character with a Vanguard card and a legendary creature card gets a second of the latter" slot. Barrin would be a perfect fit for that. As far as I know, Jolrael and Mangara didn't get vanguard cards so they can't fit this slot.
Personally, I think that the buildings in the background are just a bit of compositional oddity.
Judging from the flavor text, I could imagine that the intention is for her to be standing at the edge of the forest in defiance of humans who dare encroach on the jungle. If you just show her looking out from the edge of the forest, however, you aren't able to see the signs of civilization beyond the forest... which means that she has to be looking away from civilization at the edge of the jungle so that the civilization can be caught in the background while you see her face... which unfortunately makes it look like she's coming from that civilization.
she's also depicted here outside of the walls, so i mean... anyone who chooses to live in the jungle outside a city's walls is pretty reclusive in their own right
thanks for offering up the link, clearly a lot of people don't know too much about her lore which is a shame because that period in magic's history is far more rich than anything current
