The new core set has a lot of exciting new cards, including:
• A brand new planeswalker (from a plane we’ve visited) - Basri Ket
• A card that lets you draw half of your library. - Peer into the Abyss
• A +1/+1 tribal lord for a creature type that’s never had one. (A creature type with over fifty cards already in print.) - Pack Leader
• A character with a Vanguard card and a legendary creature card gets a second of the latter. - Barrin, Tolarian Archmage
• A card with thirty-one different options. - Sublime Epiphany
• A card that gains all activated abilities of a certain subset of cards in a place it’s never done it before. - Conspicuous Snoop
• A card that uses a nonevergreen named ability over twenty years old. - Teferi, Master of Time
• A card with the words “battlefield”, “cast”, “creature”, “converted mana cost”, “end of turn”, “exile”, “graveyard” and “mana cost”. - Idol of Endurance
• An aura inspired from a cycle from Urza’s Sagablock - Demonic Embrace
• A nonevergreen enchantment subtype returns - Shrines with Sanctum of Tranquil Light and co
Core 2021 also has a number of fun reprints, including:
• A popular character first introduced in flavor text. - Ugin, the Spirit Dragon
• A French Vanilla mythic rare. - Baneslayer Angel
• A popular aura that started as part of a cycle. - Faith's Fetters
• A card with a unique protection. - Runed Halo
• Two cards played in tournaments that have been reprinted over twenty times with at least five different pieces of art - Duress the other one is most likely Negate
• A card that’s never previously appeared in a premier set. - Grim Tutor
• A card that’s never been reprinted before which has a 2, 3, 5 and 6 all appear on the card. - Massacre Wurm
• A Human Monk. - Jeskai Elder
• A card from the Time Spiraltimeshifted sheet. - Tormod's Crypt
A card with thirty one different options? Must have something to do with keywords - there's no way the text box would allow for that level of complexity otherwise.
The Urza's Saga-esque aura must be the embrace cycle, which means it'll have +2/+2 and a keyword, as well as something else for four mana.
As far as Human Monks go, there's tons. All the Jeskai ones from Khans block as well as the Green ones from Kamigawa. It'd be interesting to get the Kamigawan monks instead - they have some pretty strong effects.
Ooo lorwyn walker maybe? Only major plane I can think of with no local walker.

Commander 2020 didn’t have old lore characters and it's core 2021 that kicks off the old lore characters of the year of commander
doesn't the hint say its a character that already has BOTH?
so wouldn't that rule out every single vanguard card that doesn't have a card counterpart?
if that's true, and the set revolves around teferi - from that smaller card pool shouldn't we be thinking about which characters influenced teferi the most?
wouldn't that narrow it down to basically barrin, urza, or karn?
from that - urza just got a card though there is demand to see him at another point in his life representing other colors and he was a major figure in almost every point of teferi's life. karn has an alright card but him being a planeswalker now could potentially confuse new people and they weren't connected too much after tolaria. barrin's card was originally mediocre garbage but he too had influences on teferi at multiple points in teferi's life until his death.
Edit: part of me says itll be a new urza representing the time during invasion block, but my gut says barrin since the original card was so bad and theyve been redoing a lot of the legends from that storyline to make them less trashy
Personally, my vote would be for Orim or Mishra, with Mishra being the favorite. Both are characters that people have been requesting for a while, that had lackluster first printings. In particular, Mishra is barely usable in Commander, which is a real shame for fans of the Character.
Urza makes a lot of sense to me. It's also an opportunity to to show the character in contrast with Teferi. Urza was kinda a b*stard.
I think the leak is legit, which only raises concerns surrounding Insider speculation in MTG finance circles. It's possible that the BoP was pulled not, or at least not merely out of any new concern for the card's power level, but to penalize those that took advantage of the tip and sold high so as to invest in cards that would retain value roughly similar to BoP before its expected tank.
Edit: I do hope that WotC releases a statement on the issue. While it is admittedly bad PR news, I think it would make players feel better learning the dirty secret from the horse's mouth than from other sources, especially for those new to the game. This would allow them to take better control of the narrative and frame the issue as in the process of reform, rather than in state mired by complacency. That being said I don't know what solutions they realy have. We want reprints of valuable cards and in order to cater to this need, there will always exist an incentive among employees to profit tangentally and illegally from the process.
But is it really that possible to pull a card that late in production? Few leaks are perfect in the information they provide

Yep those are the only choices (realized it's has to have only one black border card of the creature)

I could be terribly wrong in this. BoP isn't even all that expensive relative to the other rumoured reprints.

BoP fits Maro's leak as well, so it could still be in the set. And sets start printing about 6 months before a set's release. Remember the Ixalan leak? That was with cards from the printer factory. I can imagine there's some time between when cards start getting printed and when the set is finalized. It all depends on when the leak was first announced.
But it seems like the leaks are accurate, and I think it's great if they're true. These cards both rumored and new, look really good.

Plus it could have one of the most expensive reprints in history in a standard set heck even more value than a non-foil force of will
grim tutor that's a $228 average card (but that price will fall from space faster than a meteor the M20 version anyway if true)

I still think the S99 version will hold some value, but will tank significantly, though I feel it could still be worth $100+ just due to scarcity. The M20 version is going to be a mythic based on leaks, so I can see it as a $10 card. It's really not a great card in Standard because 3 life isn't huge, and it's only 1 mana less than Diabolic Tutor which has seen numerous reprints over the years.

A new Reaper King-esque mana cost? Also, the 20-year-old mechanic could be phasing from that one potential leak.
I wonder who this is, since it's a core set it HAS to be monocoloured
That and it's teferis signature move
And Yep that colors thing sounds like ”choose any number of colors” 31 combinations to choose from
doesn't the hint say its a character that already has BOTH?

So, if the Criteria is that they have a Vanguard card and only ONE legendary creature card, the list is as follows:
- Karn
- Maraxus
- Barrin
- Hanna
- Orim
- Selenia
- Tawnos
- Starke
- Eladamri
- Rofellos
- Sidar Kondo
- Sliver Queen
- Mishra
- Titania
- Urza
- Xantcha
Personally, my vote would be for Orim or Mishra, with Mishra being the favorite. Both are characters that people have been requesting for a while, that had lackluster first printings. In particular, Mishra is barely usable in Commander, which is a real shame for fans of the Character.
it's a safe bet that it isn't. It says that it's someone who has a vanguard and a legendary creature card and is getting a second card basically
I think the leak is legit, which only raises concerns surrounding Insider speculation in MTG finance circles. - Flamekin walker
- Treefolk walker
- Giant walker
- Kithkin walker
All of these would be great. Elf and Merfolk would be OK as well, but we already have those.
"Bands with other creatures named Wolves of the Hunt" confirmed!
"Norin, you're gonna be in a core set! Norin?"
Is subset a type?
If that's the case enchantment hasn’t been done yet since there's activated abilities on those
And for zones the only one not done is hands
I likewise immediately suspected Baneslayer.
