The red-green companion.... is a 5-color card. Keep your double/triple/quadruple/etc mana cost cards in your sideboard (if applicable) and you'll be fine.
This doesn't really seem like much of a hoop to jump through, right? The payoff of this guy isn't huge, but it is a 5/5 for 5. Certainly some mid-range decks in G that could easily just throw this in the SB as a companion.
This could be an easy fit for Niv-Mizzet Reborn decks. It outsizes most creatures in Modern (and probably Pioneer), it helps with Niv-Mizzet Reborn overloading your hand, and it's a guaranteed threat in "hand" in a deck that tends to be primarily answers, acceleration, and lands. Shame about that Fulminator Mage and Wheel of Sun and Moon that are now risky to board in, though....
For those newbies playing at home the companion is even one cost involves WW, UU, BB, RR, GG (or higher numbers of 3 of each and so on and so forth) if even one cmc has something like those it can’t be your companion
And that mana ability you can’t tap for this x nor these 1 (and higher)
My horde of notions will like this even if I can’t do the companion condition in the deck

Well you can still play it without the companion requirement it just becomes 99 rather than 101
By the way doesn’t Fulminator Mage and Wheel of Sun and Moon makes it a fail in the companion condition since it’s technique 2 same mana symbols in the cost
But yes niv-Mizzet reborn defiantly has the upper hand of getting the companion condition
Forgot about this earlier--you can no longer maindeck the best board wipes if you want Jegantha as a Companion. Dang it, I wanted to not have to Glittering Wish for Supreme Verdict in my Niv-Mizzet Reborn deck.

So far this seems like the most reasonable companion to build for in commander. Maybe. Of my two 5 color decks it’s a no go for Dragons(some of the double/triple symbol cards are too strong) but maybe for Golos, although probably not. Although the 99 for Golos isn’t out of the question since he almost fulfills an activation of Golos by himself.
Dude, this guy absolutely stinks with Morophon. This guy requires no more than 1 pip per color, and morophon reduces cost by 1 pip per color. Morophon would literally cancel out the only part of the cost that this gy's ability can pay for (unless you have a ton of activated abilities, I guess).

I definitely want to at least run this in the 99 of my Golos deck, but I think I could pretty easily pull it off as a companion too. Some fun big spells like battlefield casualties would have to come out, but those are easily replaced. Only downside is I can't run any of the new (or old) ultimatums then, and they all look pretty fun.

I recently changed my Golos deck to a Blink build and I don’t think losing things like Avenger of Zendikar and Agent of Treachery would be worth having this in the companion slot but I can find a spot in the 99.
Do generic mana requirements count as mana symbols? Like "3R". Is "3" a symbol or only "R" counts as a symbol?
What about eldrazi and their "strict colourless" symbol?
Generic would be 1. Colorless is not generic.
So in this case, Jegantha's ability can't pay for either. No generic, because it says that, and no colorless (the "Eldrazi" mana), because it doesn't produce that, just WUBRG.

training grounds, Biomancer's Familiar and the new Zirda, the Dawnwaker plus this then all you need is 4 mana
